Gandrud Collision Center Introduce

For vehicle owners in Green Bay, Wisconsin, requiring post-accident restoration or significant body work, Gandrud Collision Center, located at 1000 Auto Plaza Dr, positions itself as a key "Auto Repair Station." As part of a larger automotive group, this center is equipped to handle various levels of vehicle damage, aiming to return vehicles to their pre-collision condition. It's important to provide an objective overview, considering both the positive aspects highlighted by customers and the significant concerns raised in some reviews.

Environment and Operational Context

As a dedicated collision center, Gandrud Collision Center operates within a specialized environment designed for comprehensive auto body repair. This typically includes a spacious workshop area with equipment for frame straightening, panel replacement, dent removal, and a paint booth for precise color matching and flawless finishes. Being part of the "Auto Plaza Dr" suggests it's located within a complex that might house other automotive dealerships or service centers, potentially offering a convenient one-stop shop for vehicle needs. One notable environmental feature highlighted in a positive review is its "close to enterprise car rental," which is a significant convenience for customers needing a temporary vehicle while theirs is undergoing repairs.

The operational environment also involves frequent interaction with insurance companies, as collision repair often necessitates insurance claims. The positive review mentions that they "worked well with my insurance company," indicating a degree of familiarity and efficiency in handling such administrative processes. However, a detailed negative review raises concerns about transparency and communication during the estimating and billing process, suggesting that while the physical environment is set up for repairs, the administrative and customer service aspects can vary significantly.

Services Offered

As an "Auto Repair Station" specifically focused on collision work, Gandrud Collision Center provides a range of services aimed at restoring vehicles after accidents or extensive body damage. While a comprehensive list is not available, common services offered by such facilities typically include:

  • Collision Repair: Repairing structural and cosmetic damage resulting from accidents, including dent removal, panel replacement, and frame straightening.
  • Auto Body Repair: Addressing various forms of body damage, from minor dings and scratches to more significant exterior imperfections.
  • Professional Auto Painting: Utilizing advanced techniques and equipment to match paint colors accurately and apply a high-quality finish, ensuring the repaired sections blend seamlessly with the original paintwork.
  • Paintless Dent Repair (PDR): For smaller dents that haven't damaged the paint, offering a less intrusive repair method. (This is a common service in collision centers, though not explicitly confirmed for Gandrud).
  • Wheel Alignment and Suspension Checks: Often necessary after a collision to ensure the vehicle drives straight and safely. (Inferred based on typical comprehensive collision repair).
  • Headlight and Taillight Repair/Replacement: Essential safety components often damaged in fender benders.
  • Working with Insurance Companies: Assisting customers with their insurance claims, including providing estimates and liaising directly with adjusters.

The services are designed to be comprehensive, ensuring that vehicles are not only aesthetically restored but also structurally sound and safe to drive after an incident.

Features and Customer Experience

The customer experience at Gandrud Collision Center appears to be quite varied based on the provided reviews. On the positive side, features highlighted include:

  • Timely Completion: One customer noted that repairs were "done in a timely fashion," which is a crucial factor for vehicle owners reliant on their cars.
  • Insurance Company Collaboration: The ability to "work well with my insurance company" suggests a streamlined process for claims, potentially easing the burden on the vehicle owner.
  • Convenient Location: Proximity to Enterprise Car Rental offers a practical solution for transportation during the repair period.
  • Overall Good Job: The summary "No complaints, good job all around!" from a satisfied customer indicates effective repair work and a positive outcome.

However, a significant feature, albeit a negative one, revolves around the estimating and billing process. A detailed account describes a situation where the final invoice was 2.5 times higher than the initial estimate, with crucial components like the bumper and paint allegedly omitted from the original quote. This raises serious concerns about:

  • Estimating Accuracy and Transparency: The customer found it unbelievable that obvious damage was missed in an initial estimate.
  • Communication Practices: The employee and manager reportedly dismissed the discrepancy as "normal," which could be perceived as unhelpful or even evasive, leading to customer frustration.
  • Ethical Billing: The "magical" $1,000 drop in the invoice upon mentioning insurance suggests potential issues with how out-of-pocket versus insurance-covered costs are handled, leading to questions about fairness and consistency in pricing.

This stark contrast in customer experiences highlights that while the center may deliver satisfactory results in terms of repair quality and convenience for some, others may face significant challenges with transparency, communication, and billing practices. This variability is a critical aspect for potential customers to consider.

Promotional Information

Based on the provided information, there are no specific promotional offers, discounts, or advertising campaigns detailed for Gandrud Collision Center. Like many larger collision centers that handle insurance claims, their primary "promotion" comes from their ability to work with various insurance providers and the convenience they offer, such as proximity to rental car services. Being part of the larger "Gandrud" group, they might benefit from broader brand recognition and potentially participate in group-wide promotions, but none are explicitly mentioned for the collision center itself.

For specific inquiries about services, estimates, or to discuss a particular repair, potential customers are advised to contact Gandrud Collision Center directly. They are located at 1000 Auto Plaza Dr, Green Bay, WI 54311, USA. You can reach them by phone at (920) 468-3677 or via mobile at +1 920-468-3677. Given the issues highlighted in one review, it would be prudent for customers, especially those paying out-of-pocket, to request a highly detailed estimate, clarify what unforeseen issues might arise, and understand their policy regarding price adjustments before authorizing any work.

Gandrud Collision Center Customer Reviews

Buyer beware! We made a mistake and backed into someone's truck, yup we screwed up. I told the owner of the truck to take their vehicle wherever they would like to get an estimate to get the truck repaired. They unfortunately took it here. The owner of the truck explained the situation to the employee (I will spare his name). Said employee took photos and wrote up an estimate. The owner emailed me the estimate. I said ok, I will pay this out of pocket. Take it in and I will pay the bill. The truck got fixed, said employee emailed over the invoice to the owner and it was 2.5 times what the estimate was for! I was born at night but not last night. I immediately called and spoke to said employee and he told me that the bumper, bumper brackets, paint (painted bumper) were not on the original estimate. The bumper was the most obvious part of what we backed into, I mean obvious. He then proceeded to tell me that this is "normal". Normal? I said, yes he stated. There was also a headlight bracket that was broken that they could not see from a visual inspection until they took the truck apart. I totally understand that part, unforseen things can happen. So I paid a visit and spoke with the manager. I will also not call out his name. He proceeded to tell me that this was all normal and that he once forgot to include a windshield in a quote for a deer damage vehicle. A windshield, yes he said. A windshield did not 2.5 X the estimate for your job. To make a long story short. Both of these guys would not come clean to just apologize for screwing up the quote. Accidents happen and none of us are perfect. I wanted to speak to the manager's boss but was told he does not have a boss....hard to believe. So instead of paying for this fender bender out of pocket, I had to get my insurance company involved. Magically the final invoice dropped by $1,000 just by me mentioning insurance. I think the Rydell group has some training to do. This is a 100% true story.

Took my silverado in for repairs after being involved in a fender bender. They got it done in a timely fashion, worked well with my insurance company, and it's close to enterprise car rental. No complaints, good job all around!

I brought my Nebula Gray Pearl Lexus here with paint damage on the rear quarter, and I thought the paint would be off after repainting. No way they'd match it closely especially with the pearl... My paint from the factory had lots of silver flakes. They color matched it perfectly! You can't even tell anything had ever happened now. My car is perfect again! They even cleaned and vacuumed my car. I definitely recommend!

I traded truck in after getting it fixed.. Issues after picking it up: Broken plastic on steering column Door had wind noise Passenger door was covered in buffer trails and holograms ,whoever taught that person how to use a orbital polisher needs to be fired. Vehicle was covered in swirls from them washing it half assed. Can't believe the amount of swirls they caused from just 1 "wash"

Fantastic job and so professional!! Fixed my bumper and other items to perfection. Timeline was accurate. Cleaned the interior of my car as well. Helped align a rental while my car was being repaired. So friendly!
