Skunkworks Porting and ECOtec performance Introduce

Skunkworks Porting and ECOtec Performance, located at 30100 Fairfax St, Southfield, MI 48076, USA, is listed under the platform category of "Auto Repair Stations." The name suggests a specialization in engine porting and performance enhancements, particularly for ECOtec engines. This type of business typically caters to automotive enthusiasts seeking to improve the power and efficiency of their vehicles. For local users in Southfield and surrounding areas interested in performance modifications, Skunkworks Porting and ECOtec Performance would seemingly be a potential service provider.

Information regarding the physical environment of Skunkworks Porting and ECOtec Performance is not available through the provided customer review. Typically, a performance-oriented auto shop would have a garage area equipped with tools and machinery necessary for engine work, including porting tools, diagnostic equipment, and potentially even a dynamometer for performance testing. There might also be a customer reception area. However, without further information, it is impossible to describe the specific environment of this establishment.

The services implied by the name "Skunkworks Porting and ECOtec Performance" would likely include cylinder head porting and polishing, intake manifold modifications, and potentially other performance upgrades specifically tailored for ECOtec engines. These services aim to optimize airflow into and out of the engine, leading to increased power and improved throttle response. The customer review mentions the sale of a throttle body and an intake manifold, indicating that they also deal in performance parts. The initial discussion about additional work on "heads, cams and valves ect." suggests they offer more comprehensive engine modification services beyond just porting. However, the negative experience detailed in the review casts a shadow over the reliability and professionalism of their service delivery.

The single customer review provided offers a deeply concerning perspective on the features and business practices of Skunkworks Porting and ECOtec Performance. Several red flags are raised in this account. Firstly, the request for a $500 payment via Facebook Messenger for in-stock items is an unconventional and potentially risky payment method for a legitimate business transaction. Secondly, the immediate and persistent pressure to send a substantial sum ($5,600) via check through UPS for additional work, even before providing a clear and accessible invoice, is highly unprofessional and raises serious trust issues. The subsequent failure to provide a working invoice and the cessation of communication further exacerbate these concerns.

A significant feature, as highlighted by the reviewer, is the alleged non-refundable deposit policy that was not disclosed upfront. The customer explicitly states that they were not informed that the $500 payment was a non-refundable deposit for the throttle body and intake. This lack of transparency and the apparent contradiction with their phone and text message conversations are highly problematic. The reviewer's experience of contacting other companies in the same industry who allegedly warned against doing business with Skunkworks Porting and ECOtec Performance adds another layer of concern regarding their reputation within the automotive performance community.

The overall impression from this review is one of questionable business ethics and a lack of professionalism. The unconventional payment requests, the aggressive pressure for large sums of money without proper documentation, the failure to provide a working invoice, and the undisclosed non-refundable deposit policy all paint a picture that deviates significantly from the expected standards of a reputable "Auto Repair Station" or any legitimate business. The fact that other industry professionals reportedly advised against dealing with this company further amplifies these concerns.

Given the severely negative nature of the sole customer review available, there is no mention of any positive features or promotional information for Skunkworks Porting and ECOtec Performance. The entire account focuses on a highly unsatisfactory and potentially financially damaging experience. Local users considering engaging with this business should be aware of the serious allegations raised in this review and exercise extreme caution. It would be prudent to seek multiple opinions and thoroughly vet any automotive service provider, especially when dealing with specialized performance work and significant financial transactions.

In conclusion, while Skunkworks Porting and ECOtec Performance in Southfield, MI, presents itself as an "Auto Repair Station" specializing in engine porting and ECOtec performance upgrades, the single available customer review paints a very troubling picture. The alleged unconventional payment methods, aggressive financial demands without proper documentation, lack of transparency regarding deposit policies, and negative warnings from others in the industry are all significant red flags. Local users interested in their services should proceed with extreme caution and conduct thorough due diligence before engaging with this business.

Skunkworks Porting and ECOtec performance Customer Reviews

We contacted Skunkworks for a throttle body and an intake. He requested a $500 payment be sent via Facebook messenger for the items he had on the shelf. We then started talking to him about doing some more work on heads, cams and valves ect. We sent him Immediately the $500 he requested. He asked us to send in our intake that we had as a core and we agreed on this. For the additional work, he wanted approximately $5,600, which he requested to be sent via check thru UPS the next day. He would continuously hound us like a drug addict if we sent the money yet. We asked him to send us an invoice and he quit communicated with us for a few hours. Then he sent us something that could not be opened on our end. We sent an email back to him within 5 minutes asking him to resend the invoice in a file that could be opened. He did not resend the invoice nor did he reply to the email. We started to get uncomfortable. We started to make calls to other companies in his industry and everyone of them warned us not to do business with them. So we decided to pull the plug on everything we were going to do. We decided to still purchase the throttle body and intake since he already had out $500, which we were told was to cover those items. The money we choose not to send him was for additional work, which we choose not to move forward with. Now he is telling us the $500 was a non refundable deposit, which is not true as we were not told about this nor did we agree on this per our phone conversation and the text message conversation. Beware of this company.
