Glass America Introduce

Glass America, located at 2597 Cleveland Ave, St Paul, MN 55112, USA, operates within the "Auto Repair Stations" category, specifically specializing in vehicle glass repair and replacement. As one of the nation's larger independently-owned auto glass companies, Glass America has been providing services since 1999, focusing on windshields, door glass, back windows, and other auto glass components for a wide range of vehicles, including cars, trucks, vans, and commercial fleets.

While a detailed description of the physical environment of the St. Paul location at 2597 Cleveland Ave isn't extensively available online, Glass America generally aims to provide a professional and efficient service experience. As a dedicated auto glass repair facility, customers can expect a clean and organized shop environment. Beyond the physical location, Glass America heavily promotes its mobile service, where technicians can come to the customer's home, office, or other designated location at no extra charge. This convenience means that for many customers, the 'environment' of their repair might simply be their own driveway or workplace parking lot, highlighting a key feature of their service model.

The primary services offered by Glass America revolve around auto glass care. This includes:

  • Windshield Repair: For small chips and cracks, Glass America aims to repair the damage to restore the structural integrity of the glass. The company's policy states that if a chip repair is performed and the break gets bigger, or the customer is not satisfied with the appearance or if the repair fails over time, the money paid for the repair will be credited towards a full windshield replacement by Glass America. It's important to note, however, that customer feedback, as observed in some reviews, indicates that chip repairs can sometimes lead to the damage expanding, necessitating a full replacement, and communication regarding associated costs and refunds in such scenarios can be a point of concern for customers.

  • Windshield Replacement: When damage is too extensive for repair, or if a repair attempt fails, Glass America provides full windshield replacement services. They emphasize the use of OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) quality glass and adhesives, stating that this ensures a perfect fit and upholds safety standards, as windshields are crucial for structural support in a vehicle.

  • Side and Rear Window Replacement: In addition to windshields, Glass America also replaces side windows, rear windows, and other types of auto glass, such as quarter glass, for various vehicle makes and models.

  • Fleet Services: They cater to the auto glass needs of commercial fleets, indicating their capacity to handle multiple vehicles and ongoing maintenance requirements for businesses.

  • ADAS Calibration: With the increasing prevalence of Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems (ADAS) in modern vehicles, Glass America also performs calibrations on these systems after a windshield replacement, ensuring that features like lane departure warnings and automatic emergency braking function correctly.

Key features highlighted by Glass America include:

  • Mobile Service: As mentioned, a significant feature is their free mobile service, allowing technicians to perform repairs or replacements at the customer's preferred location, saving time and hassle.

  • Quality Materials: They assert that they use only OEM quality glass and adhesives to ensure the highest standards of safety and fit.

  • Certified Technicians: Glass America states that their technicians are trained and certified to industry standards, and all auto glass installations meet or exceed Automotive Glass Replacement Safety Standard (AGRSS) protocols.

  • Nationwide Lifetime Warranty: They offer a nationwide lifetime limited warranty on workmanship for windshield replacements for as long as the customer owns the vehicle. For chip repairs, if the repair fails or the customer is dissatisfied, the repair cost is credited towards a replacement. However, it's crucial for customers to understand the specific terms of this warranty, especially concerning issues arising from chip repairs that lead to larger cracks, as highlighted in some customer reviews.

  • Insurance Assistance: Glass America works with all insurance companies to handle claims efficiently, aiming to streamline the process for customers.

  • Competitive Pricing: The company promotes competitive prices, suggesting customers won't need to shop around extensively. They also state that their affordable rates do not include any hidden add-ons or fees.

  • Same-Day Service: In many instances, Glass America offers same-day scheduling for auto glass services, facilitating quick turnaround times.

Regarding promotional information, Glass America frequently emphasizes its competitive pricing and the convenience of its mobile service, often positioning it as a free added value. They also highlight their lifetime warranty on workmanship as a significant benefit. While specific ongoing promotions may vary, customers are encouraged to contact the St. Paul location directly at (651) 633-8300 or +1 651-633-8300 to inquire about current offers or to get a personalized quote for their specific auto glass needs. Online quote tools are also typically available through their corporate website.

It is important for potential customers to consider customer feedback when evaluating services. While Glass America generally promotes positive aspects like convenience and quality, some customer experiences, as observed in the provided reviews, indicate potential challenges. Specifically, one customer reported a negative experience with a windshield chip repair at this location where the repair led to a significant crack, requiring a full windshield replacement at the customer's cost. The customer also raised concerns about communication and the handling of a refund for the initial botched repair, suggesting a discrepancy between what was promised and what was delivered. This particular experience highlights the importance of clarifying the terms of service, especially concerning liability and warranty for chip repairs, and ensuring all agreements, particularly those involving refunds or credits, are documented in writing. While Glass America's warranty states that the money paid for a repair will be credited towards a replacement if the repair fails, the customer's experience suggests that the application of this policy might sometimes lead to disputes or misunderstandings regarding its implementation.

In conclusion, Glass America at 2597 Cleveland Ave, St Paul, MN, functions as a specialized auto repair station focusing on comprehensive auto glass services. They aim to provide high-quality repairs and replacements using OEM materials, supported by certified technicians and a convenient mobile service. While they offer a lifetime warranty on workmanship and strive for competitive pricing, customers should engage in clear communication regarding repair outcomes, particularly for chip repairs, and ensure all financial agreements are well-documented to avoid potential misunderstandings, as reflected in some customer feedback. For auto glass needs, including repairs, replacements, and ADAS calibration, Glass America presents itself as a viable option for local users in the St. Paul area, with its extensive services and emphasis on customer convenience.

Glass America Customer Reviews

Don't do a windshield chip repair at this place or any glass shops. If they crack your windshield doing the repair and this is almost a 90% chance, then you're left with getting a new windshield. They aren't liable even if they screw up the job. I had a bad experience at this shop and will never go here again. Very poor communication....... My Situation: Took wife's car to this shop for a chipped windshield repair. Mind you, I wasn't ready to buy a new windshield, plus the chip was small and towards the side, which wasn't obstructing the view. After 20 minutes in, the technician comes and tells me that he has good and bad news. The bad news is they screwed up, and now there's a 7 inch horizontal crack on the windshield. Too bad for me, go cry me a river. The good news is I get a new windshield replaced at my cost, which isn't really good news. Called my wife, and she was mad as hell because she could have driven the car with the small chip until it actually cracks on its own, which it might in a few months or even a year+. I ended up having them replace the windshield since I needed it done, which was expensive due to the car being newer. Was told that I would get a refund for the botched repair job. After a few weeks no refund so I called them and their excuse is, oh we put it towards your windshield replacement, but when I look at the actual printed paper invoice/receipt it had no mentions of it. So they're pretty much saying, you ain't getting your refund. If your cars windshield has a small chip, just leave it alone.

This place is HORRIBLE! I chose this place for two reasons. 1 - price 2- a review. I called and tried to schedule an appointment. It was a Saturday and they couldn't do it until Monday. I told the woman I get off work at 1200. She said she would have to call me back with a time a mobile until could come out. I called the next day and left a message that I was able to get the day off and I have the entire day. I called back Monday and a man answered. I told him the same thing and he asked if I wanted the mobile unit or if I could bring it to their shop. I chose the shop. I arrived at 1030 for an 1100 appointment. While waiting, there were two other waiting. They mixed up their keys and the man who had just exited the shop came back in and said these aren't my keys. My vehicle was done after the estimated time and I walked out to find my vehicle. Once inside I put the window down and back up. It didn't go all the way up and would not go back down. It was stuck. I walked in and told them what I had experienced. They took the car inside once again. The tech came out and said they used a kick off brand and sometimes they aren't the exact fit. He said he would give me a discount for my troubles. They ran out to pick up another window at a dealership. Being a diabetic, I asked if there was a place nearby where I could eat. I walked to an Indian restaurant. It was wonderful. When I returned and noticed my vehicle was still inside the garage and I thought that didn't look good. When I went inside a tech told me it was an error on their part and it should be fine. I ended leaving at 1430 with no discount. I should note, the call center I originally called asked me if I still intended to get my car fixed. I said yes and told her I was at the shop. She said, Oh, I had it scheduled for 1100. But as far as she knew I was working till 1200, she didn't know I was able to secure the day off because her email was a no response email. She lied to me. If you have PTSD as I do, go with Safelight. Spend the extra 40 bucks.
