AAMCO Transmissions & Total Car Care

I had a previous major repair (transmission replacement) at this location last year. They did an amazing job so when the dreaded engine warning symbol appeared, I went straight Aamco. The manager, Mike, told me to swing by whenever I could and he’d take a look. He immediately found the probable issue and got me right in, did the repair in a couple of hours for a very fair price. No surprises. Mike’s the best. I highly recommend this place.

Went to the dealership first and they told me my transmission was no good, I have to replace it for 8k. Went here and they showed me my car’s transmission fluid, said it drove ok on their test drive and i could flush it for 390 if i wanted. I went ahead and got my Transmission flushed here for my Ford Escape. Car works great now! Mike and Co. were honest, clear about what my car needed, and did a wonderful job. Going here for my car from now on!

Mike and his team at AAMCO in Cathedral City were awesome. I have a 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee, that I bought used from a used car dealership with a limited extended warrantee. Unfortunately, I was having problems with the transfer case, the original proposed solution would have cost $6,900 (new transfer case, module, drive shaft). While waiting for the warranty approval, while the module was disconnected another solution to fix the "binding issue" was done that only cost $2,000. The Jeep runs like a new car! Thanks for the honesty and integrity.

I feel Mike and Armando gave me my freedom back. I've been a house bound senior for years and I bought a Ford Expedition that's tranny started failing and as low income I started giving up. Beautiful Mike gave me the courage to find alternative financing And now my Expedition is like new!! Thank you for setting me free!!

We initially arrived at AAMCO on Tuesday 4/22/25, for a top off for the transmission unit on our 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee (93,000 miles) as the transmission overheating alarm came on! With Mike Maloney (AAMCO, Manager) Personally assuring us to return should we have further concerns, we returned to our vacation- having been given that Complimentary service! Today- next day, Wednesday- we’re back with the transmission alarm illuminating again AND the 5.7litre motor-fan running while engine only warm. Mike introduced us to his Chief Technician Armando Sanchez today when setting about his business of the road test plus Diagnosing the problem. Armando, also being a friendly Dog owner- was very helpful and competent and was able to determine the sensor (2) readings as being the root cause for the issue. He and Mike drew up a plan whereas we could leave the Jeep for the Sensor replacement.. up to 48 hours (it had to await parts from Redlands) or we could safely resume our vacation and long drive home. This second visit in a row was thorough, and we were kept updated. Upon further examination we were advised we were safe to drive and “as much as our business would be appreciated” (Mike AAMCO Manager) we were 2 hours later assured we could safely drive the Vehicle. There was no charge!!! This branch of AAMCO is exceptionally well managed and maintained (bathroom, waiting area all immaculately clean) The Manager and Technicians very knowledgeable and sincere with their customers. Honesty, is the policy of this branch of AAMCO and is VERY much appreciated- thank you Mike and Armando John, Diana & Edward

Our car died on I 10 W right at Desert Hot Springs. After it was towed by an awesome tow truck driver named Ricardo for AAA, we ended up at AAMCO on Ramon Road, Cathedral City. Mike, the manager, went out of his way to get us get back on the road again. He called a motel for us to see if they had any available rooms, offered to drive us there in his personal vehicle, diagnosed the problem, didn't charge us a penny because the diagnosis wasn't the transmission but an electrical one. He is absolutely someone to be trusted and goes out of his way to help. We were so thankful for his honesty and assistance. Would highly recommend AAMCO Transmissions to anyone needing repairs. He's friendly, efficient, honest and helpful and doesn't want to see anyone get ripped off...thank you so much, Mike

I came here a few weeks ago at the recommendation of someone else. My Civic had just hit 60k miles and needed a transmission fluid change. I spoke with Mike who gave me a day and window of time to bring it in. I was worried about the cost of the maintenance since this is the first car I've ever owned. Mike explained to me what he would do, what I could expect, and answered all of the questions I had. He was really helpful, kind, and communicative. He gave me an incredibly competitive price and was just all-around kind every step of the way. I cannot recommend this place enough to anyone. My parents broke down while visiting us here in Palm Desert. Mike was very kind, responsive and HONEST. They spent a good amount of time trying to replicate the issue and concluded that their car did not need any repairs. My parents were able to drive back to Lake Havasu with the car. After this experience, when I need vehicle repairs in the future I will be taking my business to AAMCO in Cathedral City. Mike, your honesty is greatly appreciated!

I came here to have my transmission inspected, due to the fact it was making a noise that was getting LOUDER! They performed the inspection/diagnostic check and told me it was fine but the noise was a dangerously bad wheel bearing and I should not drive the car or any great distance. As I live some 50 miles away, I was stuck. however, Mike Maloney came to my assistance and went above and beyond to get me back on the road again, even to the extent of calling another business to see if they could fit me in. They could not however Mike made sure that he got me back on the road today. I would highly recommend this business to anyone very trustworthy honest and extremely helpful. Thanks Mike. You’re the best!
