For drivers navigating the roads of New Jersey, the experience of fueling up is unique due to the state's long-standing full-service law. Unlike most other places in the country, here in the Garden State, an attendant will always pump your gas for you. This convenience is a part of daily life for New Jerseyans, and finding a reliable and trustworthy gas station is key. In Haddon Township, SPEED GAS at 50 Haddon Ave is one such local option for your fueling needs.

This article aims to provide a clear, factual, and informative overview of the SPEED GAS location in Haddon Township, helping local users understand its services, features, and important considerations based on available public information and customer feedback. We'll explore what this station offers and why it might (or might not) be a suitable choice for your next fill-up.

Introduction / Overview

SPEED GAS in Haddon Township operates as a standard retail gasoline station, offering various grades of fuel to motorists. As mandated by New Jersey law, the station provides full-service fueling, meaning an attendant is always on hand to assist you with pumping gas. This is a defining characteristic of gas stations in our state, offering drivers the comfort of staying in their vehicle regardless of weather conditions.

The core business of SPEED GAS, like any gas station, is to supply motor fuel efficiently. Located in a residential and commercial area, it aims to serve the daily needs of commuters and residents within Haddon Township and surrounding communities. While the fundamental service is fuel, the overall customer experience, including transparency and reliability, becomes crucial for a local business in this sector.

Location and Accessibility

The SPEED GAS station is situated at 50 Haddon Ave, Haddon Township, NJ 08108, USA. Haddon Avenue is a significant thoroughfare that connects various towns in this part of South Jersey, making the station easily accessible for a considerable number of local drivers. Its location ensures it's a convenient stop for those living or working in Haddon Township, as well as for individuals traveling through the area towards nearby communities like Collingswood, Audubon, or Camden.

Accessibility is a key factor for any gas station, and being on a main road typically ensures straightforward entry and exit points, reducing congestion and making quick stops feasible. For New Jersey residents, ease of access to a gas station is essential for maintaining their vehicles and managing their daily routines, especially given the density of traffic in many parts of the state. The station's presence on Haddon Avenue positions it well within the local infrastructure for convenient fuel access.

Services Offered

As a gas station operating under New Jersey regulations, SPEED GAS primarily offers:

  • Full-Service Fueling: This is the core service, where trained attendants are available to pump gasoline for customers. This includes dispensing various fuel grades (e.g., regular, mid-grade, premium) into vehicles. This adherence to New Jersey's unique law is a fundamental part of the service experience.
  • Payment Processing: Attendants handle cash and credit/debit card payments directly at the pump or within a kiosk/convenience store, facilitating the transaction process.

However, based on the provided customer reviews, it is important for potential users in New Jersey to be aware of significant concerns raised about the service execution. One review explicitly details an alleged incident of "overcharging" and "being charged for gas they never received or never needed," where an employee reportedly manipulated the pump to increase the charge. This raises serious questions about the transparency and integrity of the fueling service provided, making it crucial for customers to be highly vigilant during transactions.

It is not indicated whether this specific SPEED GAS location offers additional amenities typically found at larger gas stations, such as a convenience store, car wash, or repair services. The reviews focus heavily on the fueling experience itself. Given the serious nature of the complaints, customers should primarily assume only fuel dispensing is offered and approach with caution regarding transaction accuracy.

Features / Highlights

Based on the provided information, the key features of SPEED GAS in Haddon Township are:

  • New Jersey Full-Service Compliance: The station adheres to the state law requiring attendants to pump gas, offering this standard convenience to all drivers.
  • Accessibility: Its location on Haddon Avenue provides easy access for local residents and commuters in the Haddon Township area.
  • Accommodating Staff (Mixed Reviews): One review highlights that the staff has been "very accommodating" to a customer in a wheelchair, providing assistance for parking for "different things." This suggests a willingness to assist customers with specific needs.

However, it is absolutely essential to address the significant concerns raised by multiple customer reviews. The "highlights" for this gas station are heavily overshadowed by consistent complaints of alleged dishonest practices, specifically "being ripped off" and "charged for gas they never received or never needed." The detailed account of an employee allegedly manipulating the pump to overcharge a customer, and the subsequent confrontation and lack of apology, is a critical piece of feedback. This pervasive issue, reportedly known to "friends and family in town," fundamentally impacts the perceived trustworthiness and reliability of the station. Therefore, while the convenience of full-service exists, the primary feature from a customer perspective appears to be the necessity for extreme vigilance during transactions.

Promotions or Special Offers

Specific daily or ongoing promotions for SPEED GAS in Haddon Township are not publicly available or detailed in the provided information. Gas stations typically offer promotions such as:

  • Fuel Discount Programs: Partnerships with grocery stores (like Stop & Shop with Shell) or credit card companies that offer cents-off per gallon for purchases.
  • Loyalty Programs: Some gas stations have their own loyalty cards or app-based programs that provide discounts or points for repeat business.
  • Cash Price Discounts: Many New Jersey gas stations offer a slightly lower price per gallon for customers paying with cash to offset credit card processing fees.

Given the nature of the customer reviews, it would be prudent for any prospective customer to approach any potential "offers" with caution and to meticulously verify all transactions. It is always advisable to confirm prices and quantities directly with the attendant before and after fueling, especially at locations with reported concerns about overcharging.

Conclusion: Why This Place Is Suitable for Locals

For residents of Haddon Township, NJ, and those traveling along Haddon Avenue, SPEED GAS offers the fundamental service of full-service gasoline, a cornerstone of the New Jersey driving experience. Its convenient location provides easy access for quick fuel stops, which is a significant factor in a busy state like ours. For customers with specific needs, one review indicates a willingness by staff to be accommodating, which can be a valuable aspect of local service.

However, it is imperative for locals to approach this gas station with extreme caution. The numerous and consistent customer complaints alleging overcharging and manipulation of fuel pumps represent a serious concern that cannot be overlooked. While the full-service aspect is a convenience, the trustworthiness of transactions is paramount for any business, especially one handling payments for essential goods like fuel.

Therefore, while SPEED GAS is physically present and offers the required full-service fueling, its suitability for locals is heavily conditional. It might be considered by those who are in an immediate bind for fuel and can pay close attention to the pump and their transaction. For peace of mind and to avoid potential disputes, locals might consider exploring other gas stations in the Haddon Township area with more consistently positive customer feedback regarding transaction integrity. If choosing to visit, it is strongly advised to:

  • Clearly state the exact amount of fuel desired.
  • Watch the pump meter closely throughout the fueling process.
  • Verify the final amount on the pump and receipt before payment.
  • Keep receipts for all transactions.

In essence, while it offers the basic New Jersey full-service gas station experience, the reported issues with overcharging mean that customers must be vigilant to ensure a fair and accurate transaction. This makes it a cautious choice for local New Jersey drivers.

SPEED GAS Customer Reviews

Seems like a bit of a coincidence that a lot of the one star reviews consist of people complaining about being ripped off. Maybe because they do that to nearly everyone. Friends and family in town know to avoid this place, as everyone I know has been charged for gas they never revived or never needed at least once or multiple times. I just got back from giving them another chance and I asked for $40 worth of gas knowing that my car only needed $20 of gas. I watched the gas click and stop at $22 which is what I expected, and checked and confirmed my gas was now filled. I then watched the employee walk over and hold his hand directly over the gas pump on my car, making the price continue to go up and charge me for gas I didn’t even need. When I addressed this to the employee, he didn't have an excuse and said that it was fine. Once I explained to him that I just watched him overcharge me, he accepted my $25 (which I never even received change for) but still insisted that I owed him $40. I offered to call the police, or speak with his manager, however he quickly gave me my money and walked away with zero explanation or apology. This exact thing has happened to so many people in my area, and it always seems go be the same employee and manager as well that are accountable. This NEEDS to be fixed .

These people are incredible. They are so nice to me every year by letting me park there for different things. Because I am in a wheelchair they have been very accommodating to me.

I only stopped to put air in my tire. The two employees were so helpful! I know it sounds silly but they didn’t have to put the air in my tire but they did and even gave me advice. They told me how much air I should have and also that I should get two new tires and put the back two in the front. This was just a gas station they do not sell tires so it wasn’t a sales pitch just being friendly.

They have overcharged so many people I know, including me. I’ve watched as my tank gets overcharged even though my tank is entirely full, and the employees are never hesitant to lie. This place is known around town as much vetch’s thing for gas. Please be careful when going there, I avoid this gas station all together now, which is a shame, as its the closest gas station to me.

I asked for $20 of regular gas, the attendant said "20?" I replied "Yes, $20 of regular." He then proceeded to fill my tank with $46 of gas. I complained and he said he forgot and he implied that my car would need gas at some point anyways. This is unacceptable. Especially because I was the only customer he was helping.
