Sunoco Introduce

For drivers navigating the busy roads of New Jersey, particularly in the Pennsauken area, finding a convenient and reliable gas station is a daily necessity. Our vehicles are indispensable for commutes, family activities, and connecting with the wider South Jersey region. While the primary function of any gas station is to provide fuel, the overall customer experience, including service quality and transaction security, plays a crucial role in shaping a local user's perception and trust. The Sunoco station located at 5301 NJ-38 in Pennsauken aims to serve this vital need, but recent customer feedback reveals some significant concerns that potential patrons in New Jersey should be aware of.

New Jersey stands out with its full-service gas pumping law, meaning attendants are directly involved in your fueling process. This unique aspect places a premium on staff professionalism and the integrity of transactions. This article will delve into the offerings of this Sunoco station, providing a factual overview based on its location and the experiences shared by actual customers, empowering local drivers to make informed decisions about their fueling stops.

Location and Accessibility

The Sunoco gas station is strategically positioned at 5301 NJ-38, Pennsauken, NJ 08109, USA. Route 38, also known as State Highway 38, is a significant east-west corridor in South Jersey, connecting various suburban communities and providing access to major highways. This location offers excellent accessibility for residents of Pennsauken, Cherry Hill, and other surrounding towns, as well as for those commuting through the area. Its placement on a prominent state highway ensures high visibility and generally straightforward entry and exit, making it a convenient stop for quick refueling during daily travels. The ease of access is a key benefit, allowing drivers to quickly pull in, fill up, and get back on their way.

Services Offered

As a standard Sunoco branded gas station, this location on Route 38 offers the essential services expected by motorists, with the added benefit of New Jersey's full-service model:

  • Fueling Stations: The primary service is the provision of various grades of gasoline. Sunoco typically offers standard unleaded options, and often includes Top Tier fuel, which is designed to keep engines cleaner and optimize performance by reducing engine deposits. This is a benefit for vehicle health and efficiency.
  • Full-Service Pumping: In compliance with New Jersey state law, trained attendants are available to pump your gas. This full-service convenience can be particularly appealing during adverse weather conditions or when drivers are in a hurry.
  • Convenience Store (Likely): While not explicitly detailed in the provided reviews, most modern Sunoco stations, especially those on major highways, include a convenience store. These stores typically offer a range of quick-purchase items such as snacks, beverages, and potentially some basic automotive supplies.
  • Window Washing (Voluntary/Controversial): Attendants may offer to wash your windshield during fueling, a common courtesy at full-service stations. However, as noted in customer reviews, this service can become an issue if performed against the customer's wishes.
  • Sunoco Go Rewards® Participation: As a Sunoco branded station, it is likely to participate in the Sunoco Go Rewards® program, which allows customers to earn loyalty discounts on fuel purchases.
Features / Highlights

The Sunoco on Route 38 W has several features, but some are unfortunately highlighted by negative customer experiences:

  • Strategic Location: Its placement on NJ-38 (Marlton Pike W) is a definite highlight for convenience, offering easy access for a wide range of drivers in the South Jersey area. This high-traffic location makes it a highly visible and accessible point for refueling.
  • Sunoco Top Tier Fuel: As a Sunoco station, it is expected to offer Top Tier gasoline, which is a beneficial feature for engine health and performance, providing a higher standard of fuel quality.

However, very serious negative "highlights" from customer reviews include:

  • Unwanted Services and "Scheming" Attempts: One customer reported attendants washing their window despite being told "multiple times I did not want my windshields washed," and then attempting to demand money ($2) for this unsolicited service when paying with cash. This indicates a concerning practice of aggressive upselling and potentially deceptive behavior.
  • Allegations of Credit Card Information Theft/Fraud: A severe and critical highlight is the direct accusation of "Two different credit cards information was stolen from this location." The customer reported that their cards "declined" repeatedly, only to find later that their information was compromised. This raises profound security concerns and directly impacts customer trust and financial safety.
  • Trust and Integrity Issues: The combination of unwanted services being pushed for payment and direct accusations of credit card theft creates a significant red flag regarding the integrity and trustworthiness of operations at this specific location.

These serious negative reports are critical for any potential customer to consider.

Promotions or Special Offers

As a Sunoco branded station, this location on Route 38 W would likely participate in corporate-level promotions and loyalty programs, such as:

  • Sunoco Go Rewards® Program: This is Sunoco's primary loyalty program, allowing customers to earn discounts on fuel by downloading the Sunoco app, registering, and linking a payment method. Members typically save 3¢ per gallon, and even more if they use the Sunoco Rewards credit card (an additional 5¢ per gallon, stacking for a total of 8¢ off per gallon).
  • Sunoco Rewards Credit Card: This branded credit card offers additional savings (typically 5¢ per gallon) on every fuel purchase at Sunoco stations.
  • Grocery Rewards Redemption: In some markets, Sunoco partners with grocery store loyalty programs, allowing customers to redeem grocery points for gas discounts at participating Sunoco stations.

However, given the serious allegations of credit card information theft, customers should exercise extreme caution when considering using any payment methods that could expose their card details, even when trying to avail of promotional offers. The benefits of loyalty programs must be weighed against the reported security risks.

  • Phone: (856) 663-7661

Conclusion: Why This Place is Suitable for Locals

For residents of Pennsauken, NJ, and those traveling along Route 38, the Sunoco gas station at 5301 NJ-38 offers a physically convenient location for refueling, a primary factor for any gas station in a busy area. As a Sunoco branded station, it can provide Top Tier fuel, which is a quality benefit for vehicle engines, and typically offers the convenience of full-service pumping, a standard and often appreciated feature in New Jersey.

However, it is with grave concern and strong advisories that this station's "suitability for locals" must be framed. The customer reviews present extremely serious allegations of misconduct, including attempts to "scheme" customers for unwanted services and, more critically, claims of credit card information being stolen. These are not minor inconveniences but fundamental breaches of trust and security that directly impact a customer's financial well-being and peace of mind.

While the location is geographically convenient and the brand is well-known, the reported operational issues and security risks are paramount. For the safety and financial security of New Jersey drivers, it is strongly recommended that locals exercise extreme caution when considering this Sunoco location for their fueling needs. It would be prudent for customers to prioritize their security and consider alternative, more reliably trustworthy fueling options in the Pennsauken area until these very serious concerns are demonstrably addressed and resolved by the station's management.

Sunoco Customer Reviews

Becareful, some of the gas attendants will still wash your window even though you say not to and try to scheme you when you may cash. Wanted $2 even though I said multiple times I did not want my windshields washed.

Two different credit cards information was stolen from this location. First card “declined” so it was returned to me asking for a second card which also “declined”.

This is no longer a Sunoco and has been turned into a Conoco service was fine. I'm glad it was still open at 9pm on a Saturday.

Gas attendant didn't tighten the cap at all and caused gas to leak out later in the day. Avoid!
