Unfortunately, this was a long and terrible experience. I showed nothing but patience with Wrenchers, but was continuously met with exorbitant bills, missed deadlines, and questionable service. I am sure they will respond to this review, but keep in mind Google does not allow people to respond back. They do not owe anybody reading this an explanation; they can call me directly to justify what has transpired. I am just going to lay out the series of events that unfolded. June 2023: Called Wrenchers for the first time, as I was looking to find a reputable shop to work on a 1969 Pontiac Firebird. The car worked very well. Not perfect, but it was a very reliable cruiser that had work done in 2021 to fix major issues (such as brakes and the starter). I made it clear I wanted to do the Pure Stock Muscle Car Drags event in September, and that if they cannot meet that deadline, I will look elsewhere. They were busy, and said I can drop the car off after July 4th. July 2023: Walked through what I wanted done. There are strict rules for that event in terms of what can be modified on the car, and I wanted them to inspect it to make sure it adhered to the race guidelines. I did not want a full race build, just some work done to make sure it could complete the event safely. I needed some cosmetic work done (taking out an aftermarket radio, fixing window cranks, putting on new tires, etc.). I knew some mechanical work was needed since the car would sputter a bit under heavy throttle. I also suggested swapping in a 3.55 gear to be more aggressive. August 2023: This is when they first looked at the car according to the invoice, so it sat for a month. Significant work done, and some of it I am not sure why, such as painting the block. September 2023: They let me know they cannot meet the deadline for the race. I say I just want it back in October so I have it before the season is over. I am billed for a substantial list of work on the engine, again not fully understanding if all of it was necessary since the car largely ran fine. They also rebuild the transmission on consignment. October 2023: Car will not be ready. I am frustrated at this point, but show patience by telling them since the season is over, there is no difference whether I get it back in November or March. April 2024: The car has clearly not been a priority. Apparently cars they had to get ready for Autorama took precedence even though they had all winter (and fall, and part of summer) to work on mine. They go on a spree of ordering parts that were clear from day one that I needed (mirrors, window cranks, tires, etc.). We discuss the gear ratio quite a bit and they push hard for a 3.73. I trust their word and opt for that instead of the 3.55 I initially suggested. May 2024: The car is finally ready for pickup but right away I notice that the new hood emblem they put on the car is askew. They also put the wrong tires on. June 2024: Take it back in for things that should have been done right the first time. July 2024: Gas pedal is very loose, something I have never experienced in that car. I am told pedals on old cars are looser than modern cars. This was a safety concern with how loose it was. There is also now some new, awful grinding noise the car is making. August 2024: Supposedly the car is all set. I could not make it home due to a new overheating issue. Car stalled out 30 minutes into driving. Am told the new gears cause overheating, even though I am driving it at lower RPM than before. September 2024: Uncover fuel delivery issues but suggest new carb even though they already rebuilt this one. Pickup car day of race and thankfully complete it, but car ran very slow and overheating is still a major issue. I am now out an incredible amount of money (more than 2x the estimate) and this car is less drivable than before. They had over a year to get this right and somehow new issues keep emerging. It has been a revolving door of people working on this. I gave them more than enough chances but I need to look elsewhere now to get this right.

Our family loves classic cars and Wrenchers is the only place we would go in the Detroit area for that highly specialized work. The shop looks like a working museum and everyone there is highly passionate about producing stellar results. The hours billed are the hours worked, very easy to see that in the superior results they produce. Patrick and his team are great.

Great team, great service, amazing work. I brought my 1970 Corvette to Wrenchers looking to solve some electrical issues I was having, along with a full interior and exterior restoration. The Wrenchers team was more than able to assist and even identified issues at the source that were overlooked by previous shops. Patrick and the team were transparent about costs and timeline, always keeping me in the loop. 10/10 would recommend, wish I had found Wrenchers sooner!

Just didn't listen. They tried to return the car to me three times when work wasn't done. The third time I paid the entire bill, then discovered work was still not done. They cashed the check before I got to the parking lot even though I didn't pick up the car. Several of the heater box servos they replaced are still good. Just not the great experience you expect for the prices they charge.

recently visited this car shop, and it was a complete nightmare from start to finish. The staff were incredibly rude and unprofessional, showing no respect for me or my vehicle. They took forever to even acknowledge my presence, and when they finally did, they were dismissive and condescending. The service itself was a disaster. Not only did they fail to fix the issue I came in for, but they also managed to create several new problems. My car now runs worse than before, and I'm left with a hefty bill for their incompetence. To top it all off, the shop was filthy and disorganized, with tools and parts scattered everywhere. It's clear that they have no respect for their workspace or their customers.I would strongly advise anyone to avoid this car shop at all costs. Save yourself the time, money, and headache, and find a more reputable establishment to take your vehicle to.
