LaFontaine Subaru Service Center Customer Reviews

I can no longer trust this service department. I brought my 2021 Subaru in four times for brake issues. The first time they told me everything was fine. The second time they allegedly replaced my pads under warranty, except my brakes still made a lot of noise. They indicated that was normal for new pads. About a month later a warranty extension for multiple brake components comes out. I bring the vehicle in two more times to address this. I explain the past work and tell them the new pads are embarrassingly squeaky and occasionally grind. Both times they tell me everything's fine and I instead need a bunch of other unrelated work that will cost me hundreds of dollars. Finally I take my vehicle to another regional dealership. I explain my problem to them. They look it up and tell me Lafontaine didn't actually do the correct brake work. They ordered the parts, replaced them a week later, and for the first time in 18 months my Subaru has good brakes. This was a highly disappointing and time-consuming experience on a vehicle system that is directly involved in vehicular safety. This is not a service I can trust.

My 2023 Forrester had every warning light turned on and all safety systems disabled, and I called their service department ( to determine if I could safely drive it to their shop). I was directed to tighten the gas cap and the system should reset by itself. Four days later no reset and I then brought car in for service. The technician was able to manually reset the system (which did clear the system) and since then I now habitually tighten the gas cap three times with no repeat error messages. At the time I complained to multiple service team members that manually resetting the error does not fix the root problem (once the gas cap was tightened the system should have reset itself but it did not!). No one from the service team would agree that root cause needed to be addressed. I then entered a poor feedback rating on a service survey they sent me stating that root cause was not being addressed. Fast forward three months- I called and scheduled an oil change. Brought the car down with a return ride and the service department then tells me they won’t service my car! Why?…because I was “blacklisted” by the service department! Wanted to speak to service manager - not available, asked to speak to general manager , also not available. Eventually I was told they don’t want my business because my low rating cost someone money. What’s the point of asking for feedback if the customer concerns are never addressed. Low ratings appear to be met with a vindictive response. Do yourself a favor and don’t buy from this horrible dealership! I like the car, but the dealership is the worst that I have ever encountered!

"I recently had my car serviced at LaFontaine Subaru, and I was very impressed with the service. My service advisor, Luc Samples, was incredibly helpful and informative. He explained everything clearly and answered all my questions. The work was completed on time, and the waiting area was clean and comfortable. I was able to get some work done while my car was being serviced. Overall, I had a great experience and would highly recommend LaFontaine Subaru to anyone in need of car service."

Good service center with VERY limited shuttle service range. Took my neighbor's Subaru in for warranty service while she was having a procedure done. Found out when I got there, Lafontaine only offers shuttle service if you are less than 10 miles away. That's the smallest radius for a courtesy shuttle I've ever heard of. (My Ford dealer gives 30 miles). I had to call an Uber to get back home. A day after I picked up the car, they called my neighbor to say the car was done and ready for pickup. My neighbor called me asking "Didn't you tell me you already got my car??" I sent her a picture of it in her driveway as a 'proof of life' LOL. Recommend, but be aware of the limited shuttle range!

I am beyond disappointed with my experience at this Subaru dealership. I own a 2019 Subaru Outback and brought it in because the radio was not turning off when the vehicle was turned off and the door opened. This issue has drained my battery multiple times. I took my car to the dealership, explaining that I believed it was an issue with the ignition switch. However, they insisted it was a radio problem and ordered a replacement. It took over a month for the new radio to arrive, and when it finally did, I brought my vehicle in for the installation. After paying the $100 deductible, I found out that the problem was still not fixed – the radio still stayed on after the vehicle was turned off and the door opened. It was clear that the issue was not properly diagnosed in the first place. The tech who installed the radio didn’t solve the problem, and another tech confirmed that the radio was indeed not turning off. I was then told I’d have to bring my vehicle back on Tuesday because the original tech who diagnosed it wasn’t in until then. This “guess and test” approach is not acceptable, especially on my dime and my time. I was offered a pickup service for Tuesday (today), which was not that convenient for me. Despite promises to contact me, here it is 4:00 PM on Tuesday and I still haven’t received a call. I feel completely taken advantage of – my time and money wasted, and the issue still unresolved. This level of service is unacceptable. Electrical problems should be handled with expertise, not guesswork. I am extremely upset and dissatisfied with how this situation has been handled.
