Tire Discounters

I have read a lot of comments that are below 4 stars that I cannot rationalize. This morning I’ve called them and asked for a not regular tire size for my BMW 650i. Jay was very knowledgeable about the topic and found the tires I needed. Ask for my preferences like budget, all season, etc. He selected a good tire and answered my questions about it with care. They ordered the tires for me since tires for my car are a bit hard to find and they didn’t had it in stock. He said we’ll have it here tomorrow but they got the tires in very fast. They called me back 5 hours later and I went to their place and my tires were replaced within 7 hours of calling them. Everything was smooth, even if I don’t know his name the mechanic who changed my tire informed me about how tpm sensors could still not be able to reset themselves and told me how I could solve problem if it occur (it didn’t). I am a student at VT and this was my first experience of changing tires by myself. They cared about me. Also, thanks to the guy (which I also don’t know the name of) who was in the counter welcomed me and helped me. Come to this place eyes closed and they’ll take care of you. Normally I won’t comment bur it was so good that I felt an urge to comment.

I'm very happy with the service I received from Jay and his team. I dropped my vehicle to them in the morning for a 4 wheel alignment and they had my car ready in less than 2 hours. Obviously that can change depending on how busy they are but I can ensure you they care about their customers and go above and beyond to make sure they are satisfied. My alignment specs were met perfectly as well and they offer a warranty on it for adjustments. It's refreshing to work with some honest people, as opposed to some other shops in town.... They have earned a returning customer.

First I went to order tires…was told they were ordered…waited a week they never were ordered…the GM had to pick them up from Wytheville shop. Then the day of putting them on, the lady running the desk was swearing the “f bomb” in the store in conversation to another random customer. Then 30 min before my car is done I got a call… apparently my alignment wasn’t free… what was quoted increased by $100… The old establishment would have righted their wrong, this new bunch has no clue what customer service is… I have been going to Thompson tire for a few years and they always did great, but I won’t be going back to this new establishment, I can find cheaper and better customer service.

I am new in the area and was looking for a little guidance on tires for my truck. I explained what type of driving the truck was used for and the manager (J. Nobles) provided me with a few options. He was extremely knowledgeable, courteous and professional. I received excellent service, along with a great set of tires, and I would not hesitate to recommend Discount Tires to family and friends. Very satisfied with the entire experience.

Up until today my review would have been maybe 4 stars, but not anymore. I scheduled (emphasis on "scheduled") an 8 AM simple tire rotation. My 21-y.o. son met me there as he had a tire which needed a repair. It was loose in his trunk, and he would plan to reinstall it himself. He planned to drop it off and have that done while we went to breakfast. They told me they would call when the rotation was done, and told my son that the tire was not repairable. The cheapest pair of tires they'd sell him (for an old Camry, so a standard sedan size) would've cost him around $205, installed. We returned after 3 hours. My vehicle hadn't even been taken into the shop by then. I took my key and left. While out I checked wallyworld pricing for a low-cost pair of tires: approximately $50-55 dollars less, installed. We'll be interested to find out whether they say the tire is irreparable. This place used to be pretty decent (at least as far as my needs were concerned) *before* being bought out by Tire Discounters, though even then I've experienced at least a couple times where the wait was excessive for a simple *scheduled* rotation (hence 4 stars, not 5). I simply have no trust in this company now, and I avoid doing business with those whom I can not trust.

Affordable and quick service and maintenance. The deals on tires you can land here, as compared to a typical mechanic shop in the area, are amazing. The set I purchased even came with a free oil change! Installation fees are lower when compared to local competitors. Everyone I’ve met is kind, the employees are knowledgeable and passionate, and the service manager is extremely vigilant.

On the 19th of January, my clutch exploded, I got it towed over to Thompson Tire and explained the situation, let them know that I needed it back by the 21st. Sam (the service manager I’m assuming) assured me that it would be done, and kept me up to date on the inspection and the repairs as they happened. When I walked in to pick up my car on the 21st, I was met with a smile by Sam, and the lovely people up at the front. I met the technician, David, who worked on the car. Both Sam and David did an excellent job at getting me in and working with me. I will definitely be bringing my car back for service, no doubt about it!
