I had the check engine light come on this morning (10/2/2024) and I called the Pit Stop this morning after I got to work in Winamac. They told me to stop by anytime today and they would be able to check it for a code to determine what was wrong. There is a small leak in my emission system. The problem was two fold with the gas cap being fixable today and due to the second part not being in stock the vent solenoid will be fixed on Monday. I have been to the Pit Stop now for the second time and I find the people there (receptionist to the mechanics and even the owners wife all friendly and very professional. I feel that I am not being taken advantage of and they are honest and dedicated to servicing the vehicles brought to them as well as keeping cost down as best as possible. I would highly recommend this business to anyone needing auto repairs.

I had been dealing with a persisting leak of oil and coolant and brought it into this shop. I was charged $1500 for a new water pump, turbocharger coolant return hose, labor, etc. There's absolutely NO difference pre and post service. It's still leaking in the *same exact* spot at the *same exact* rate. I remained calm and returned to the shop and they wanted to charge me another $1500 for the "other" leak. They claimed the first test they did there was a leak in the diagnosed spots but now it's leaking in another area (engine). It was always leaking in this area. What they did was charge me an arm and a leg for parts/labor that had nothing to do with the leak. Their way of "working" with me was to cut the "new" leak fix from $1500 to $1200 - an ABSOLUTE JOKE. This is nearing $3,000 for a small leak that they didn't even fix/quote the first time. I've been babysitting this leak for months so I know that whatever they did was not the main source of the leak. They misdiagnosed and want to stick me with their mistake. I found it humorous that they told me they don't pump coolant through the machine during the tests to save money. They also told me the person communicating with me through all of these appointments and phone calls was new -- good stuff! If I can get a single person to not do business with this place, I will consider this review a resounding success.
