Stoots Auto Works Sales & Services Introduce

Stoots Auto Works Sales & Services, located at 5963 Kingsport Hwy, Johnson City, TN 37615, USA, operates as a multifaceted establishment. It functions primarily as an "Auto Repair Station" offering vehicle servicing, but its name also suggests a component of "Car Dealer" services, likely involving the sale of pre-owned vehicles. This dual nature makes it a potential one-stop shop for local users in Johnson City, TN, seeking both automotive sales and service. They can be reached via phone at (423) 477-2823 or mobile at +1 423-477-2823.

Environment and Facilities

As a business combining both auto repair and car sales, Stoots Auto Works Sales & Services would typically have a layout that accommodates both functions. While specific details of their environment are not provided, one can infer the following common characteristics for such establishments:

  • Repair Workshop: Dedicated bays equipped with lifts, tools, and diagnostic equipment necessary for various automotive repairs and maintenance tasks. This area would be distinct from the sales environment.
  • Customer Waiting Area: A space for customers to relax while their vehicles are being serviced. This would likely be connected to the service reception.
  • Service Reception Desk: An area for customers to check in their vehicles for service, discuss issues with mechanics or service advisors, and handle payments.
  • Vehicle Display Area: For the "Sales" aspect, there would be an outdoor lot or potentially an indoor showroom where vehicles for sale are displayed.
  • Sales Office: An office space for sales staff to interact with potential car buyers, discuss financing, and complete paperwork.
  • Parts Storage: An organized inventory of common parts and fluids for repair operations.

The address on Kingsport Hwy is likely a well-trafficked route, providing visibility and accessibility for customers interested in either purchasing a vehicle or seeking repair services.

Services Offered

Stoots Auto Works Sales & Services, leveraging its dual designation, would offer a comprehensive range of services:

Auto Repair Station Services:
  • General Vehicle Repair: Addressing a wide array of mechanical issues. Customer reviews specifically mention:
    • Transmission Repair: One customer had their "2002 Yukon" towed there for a transmission issue, which was reportedly fixed to their "100% satisfied" approval.
    • Radiator Repair: Another customer brought their son's car in for a "radiator broke" issue, indicating competence in cooling system repairs.
  • Diagnostic Services: The discussion around the "head gasket" issue implies they conduct diagnostics to identify vehicle problems.
  • General Maintenance: Likely includes routine services such as oil changes, fluid checks, filter replacements, tire services, and other preventative maintenance to ensure vehicle longevity.
  • Brake Services: Repair and replacement of brake system components.
  • Electrical System Repair: Addressing issues related to the vehicle's electrical components.
Car Dealer Services:
  • Used Vehicle Sales: The "Sales" in their name suggests they buy, recondition, and sell pre-owned vehicles. This would typically involve offering various makes and models, and potentially financing options.
  • Vehicle Sourcing: They might assist customers in finding specific types of vehicles they are looking for.

The combination of these services positions Stoots Auto Works as a versatile automotive business aiming to cater to both existing vehicle owners and those looking to purchase a car.

Features and Customer Experience

The customer reviews provide a mixed but insightful picture of Stoots Auto Works Sales & Services, highlighting both strengths and significant concerns:

  • Positive Aspects (from a satisfied customer):
    • Effective Repairs: "I am 100% satisfied with the work they done." The successful resolution of a transmission issue, even if it "took a little longer," indicates their capability in performing complex repairs.
    • Reliability After Repair: The vehicle running "about a month and I've not any issues" after a transmission fix is a strong positive indicator of quality.
    • Willingness to Return: "I would take my car back here to have it serviced" signifies high customer satisfaction and trust from at least one client.
  • Negative Aspects (from a dissatisfied customer):
    • Failure to Fully Resolve Issue: Despite being told the car "was fixed" after a radiator replacement, it was "still overheating." This points to incomplete or inaccurate repair work.
    • Lack of Accountability/Poor Customer Service Post-Repair: The owner "implied that the head gasket may have been blown when I brought it to him" and expected the customer to pay for a tow for a problem that surfaced immediately after their repair. This reflects a significant failure in customer service, accountability, and standing behind their work.
    • Breakdown of Trust: The customer explicitly states, "I should have never trusted him to begin with," which is a severe blow to a business's reputation, especially when a customer had "been working on my family’s cars for years." This highlights the critical importance of trust in the auto repair industry.
    • Potential for Further Damage: The customer's concern that the engine "could have happened" (been destroyed) due to the incomplete repair is very serious.

These contrasting reviews indicate that while Stoots Auto Works can perform effective repairs, there appear to be inconsistencies in quality assurance and customer service, particularly when issues arise post-repair. The concept of "trust" is central to the positive experience, and its alleged breakdown is a significant concern.

Promotional Information (Implied)

Given the nature of a business like Stoots Auto Works Sales & Services, typical promotional strategies might include:

  • Word-of-Mouth Referrals: For local businesses, a long history of serving "family’s cars for years" (as mentioned in a review) suggests a strong reliance on generational or community-based referrals. Positive experiences, when they occur, would drive this.
  • Reputation for Specific Repairs: If they have a track record of successfully fixing complex issues like transmissions, they might implicitly or explicitly promote this expertise.
  • Fair Pricing (when applicable): The initial "fair price" for the radiator job suggests competitive estimating can be a draw.
  • One-Stop Shop Convenience: The combination of sales and service can be a promotional point for customers who prefer to handle all their automotive needs at one location.

However, the negative customer feedback regarding accountability and incomplete repairs would pose a significant challenge to any promotional efforts. For local users considering Stoots Auto Works Sales & Services, it is crucial to weigh both the positive testimonials and the serious concerns raised. It is always recommended to thoroughly discuss the scope of work, warranty, and any potential follow-up procedures before committing to repairs, and to consider the long-term relationship based on trust. Customers can contact them at (423) 477-2823 for inquiries regarding both sales and service.

Stoots Auto Works Sales & Services Customer Reviews

I had a tranmission issue on my 2002 youkon. I had it towed here to be fixed. It took a little longer than I thought it might. I've had my car back about a month and I've not any issues. I am 100% satisfied with the work they done. I would take my car back here to have it serviced.

I took my sons car here to have it fixed after the radiator broke ( which was as much as I knew) The owner of Stoots called me the next day to tell me it just needed a radiator and to give me an estimate,530.00,a fair price and the exact estimate I got from another garage but I wanted Stoots to do it because they have been working on my family’s cars for years and we all want someone we trust over someone we don’t. I got the car back and for reasons unknown it was still overheating so naturally I parked it and went to talk to him in person thinking he would definitely stand behind his work. Maybe 530.00 isn’t a lot of money to some but it is to me. I fully expected him to tell me I was smart to not move it and have it towed for me or go to wherever it was and check his work but he actually implied that the head gasket may have been blown when I brought it to him but he would be happy to look at it if I could get it back over there. Why would I be expected to pay for a tow after he told me it was fixed? At that point I’m smart enough to know I should have never trusted him to begin with. Thank God the engine is not destroyed but that’s exactly what could have happened because they didn’t bother to take the time to see that it was not fixed!

Stoots was recommended to me by my church family. They do great work and have great rates. They changed the spark plugs on my 2017 Ford F150 Ecoboost 3.5L and did an oil change for a lot less than the dealership I have been taking it to.
