Operating under the platform category of Auto Repair Stations, Ken's Cycle & RS Powersport Repairs appears to specialize in the repair and maintenance of motorcycles and other powersport vehicles. Customer reviews present a stark contrast in experiences, with one praising their exceptional engine restoration work and another detailing significant dissatisfaction with their service and capabilities for more complex repairs.

As an Auto Repair Station focusing on motorcycles and powersport vehicles, the environment at Ken's Cycle & RS Powersport Repairs likely includes service bays equipped with specialized tools and equipment necessary for working on these types of machines. This might include lifts and stands for motorcycles and ATVs, diagnostic tools specific to powersport engines and systems, and potentially equipment for tasks like tire changes and oil services. The positive review regarding engine restoration suggests a dedicated area for more intricate work, possibly including parts cleaning and painting facilities. However, the negative review paints a picture of a shop that may be better suited for simpler tasks.

Ken's Cycle & RS Powersport Repairs, operating within the Auto Repair Stations category, likely offers the following services and goods related to motorcycles and powersport vehicles:

  • Motorcycle Repair and Maintenance: This would include a range of services to keep motorcycles running smoothly, from routine maintenance like oil and filter changes to more complex engine and transmission repairs.
  • Powersport Vehicle Repair and Maintenance: Extending beyond motorcycles, they likely service other powersport vehicles such as ATVs, UTVs, and potentially scooters or other similar machines.
  • Engine Restoration: As highlighted in a positive review, they offer engine restoration services, including sourcing OEM parts, bead blasting, and painting, aiming for a showroom-like finish. This suggests a capability for detailed and high-quality engine work.
  • Oil Changes: A reviewer mentioned this as a potential core service, suggesting they handle routine oil and filter replacements for motorcycles and powersport vehicles.
  • Tire Changes: Another service mentioned in a review, indicating they can handle tire replacements for these types of vehicles.
  • Parts Sourcing: The positive review notes their ability to source OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) parts, which is crucial for maintaining the integrity and performance of specific makes and models.

The customer reviews provide a dramatically contrasting view of the features of Ken's Cycle & RS Powersport Repairs:

  • Exceptional Engine Restoration (according to one review): One customer was extremely satisfied with the engine restoration work performed on their vintage Yamaha motorcycle, praising the showroom quality, use of OEM parts, and overall attention to detail. This highlights a potential strength in detailed engine work.
  • Efficiency and Attention to Detail (according to one review): The same positive review implies efficiency and a meticulous approach in their restoration process.
  • Potential Misleading Name: A negative review points out that the shop might actually be Rodney's, not Ken's, which could cause confusion for potential customers.
  • Poor Service for More Complex Repairs (according to one review): The negative review details a very unsatisfactory experience with a dirt bike repair, alleging a lack of work done over a significant period, failure to order parts as promised, and the bike being returned in pieces. This raises serious concerns about their ability to handle more involved mechanical issues beyond basic maintenance.
  • Questionable Practices (according to one review): The negative review concludes with a warning to "buyer beware" and suggests "questionable practices," indicating a significant lack of trust and satisfaction.
  • Perceived Specialization in Basic Services: The negative reviewer suggests the shop might primarily function as an "oil change stop" and tire change location, implying a lack of expertise or focus on more complex mechanical repairs.
  • Poor Communication: The negative review mentions a lack of communication and delays in ordering parts and providing updates.

Given the strongly contrasting reviews and the limited positive feedback focusing specifically on engine restoration, it is challenging to ascertain reliable promotional information. However, based on the potential services offered, they might have promotions such as:

  • Seasonal Service Specials: Offering discounts on tune-ups or maintenance packages at the start of riding seasons.
  • Tire Change Specials: Discounted rates for tire replacements or balancing.
  • Oil Change Packages: Offering deals on oil and filter changes.
  • Restoration Project Quotes: Providing customized quotes for engine or full vehicle restoration projects.

Due to the significant discrepancy in customer experiences, it is strongly recommended that potential customers contact Ken's Cycle & RS Powersport Repairs directly at (423) 477-8596 or +1 423-477-8596 to inquire about their specific service capabilities, pricing, and to discuss the nature of the repair or maintenance work needed. It would be prudent to ask detailed questions about their experience with similar projects and to potentially seek additional references or testimonials beyond the limited information available online.

In conclusion, Ken's Cycle & RS Powersport Repairs in Johnson City, TN, operates as an Auto Repair Station specializing in motorcycle and powersport repairs. While one customer lauded their engine restoration work, another reported a severely negative experience with a more complex repair, suggesting potential limitations in their service capabilities beyond basic maintenance. The conflicting reviews highlight the importance for local users to conduct thorough research and direct communication with the shop to determine if their specific needs can be met with confidence. Proceed with caution and ensure clear communication regarding the scope of work, timelines, and expectations before entrusting your motorcycle or powersport vehicle to this shop.

Ken's Cycle & RS Powersport Repairs Customer Reviews

Dropped a pretty rough looking motor off from my 1986 Yamaha BW80. Told them I was doing a full restoration on the bike and I was looking to get a motor back that looked brand new. They did not disappoint. When I picked up the motor everything looked showroom. They sourced all OEM parts when available and bead blasted and painted all parts. 100% wouldn't hesitate to take any of my motorcycle projects to them. Highly recommended!

Let’s start with this is Rodney’s shop not Ken’s Name is misleading issue #1 Dropped my rm85L off a month and a half ago, no work was done, this is a joke of a mechanic shop, unless your trying to get a oil change or a tire change this is the wrong shop May 7th dropped bike off 3 weeks later I drop off a clutch release arm and see what their mechanic claims is wrong. Tell the yes go ahead and order the parts, which apparent They didn’t Got a call saying they can’t find the parts for my bike weeks after they said they would be ordering them, shouldn’t be that hard to source parts for a 85 dirt bike (red flag)…. Tell them at this point I’ll just come pick the bike up I’m done waiting , bike was returned to me in parts in a box. In conclusion do your research this isn’t a mechanic shop this is an oil change stop, and has some questionable practices. Buyer beware there are plenty of reputable shops in the area this isn’t it though 1 star Joke of a shop Photos are of the bike that was whole when it was dropped of top them

Everyone at Ken’s was fantastic! I was jammed up at 4:30 in the afternoon with a blown tire just getting off I-26 on a road trip; not only did everyone stay late, they came and got me, changed out my rear tire and got me back on the road running from an incoming storm. They really came through for me when I was in a really bad spot
