Snelling Auto Service Introduce

Snelling Auto Service, located at 670 Snelling Ave N, St Paul, MN 55104, USA, operates within the platform category of **Auto Repair Stations**. This establishment is positioned to provide a range of services for vehicle owners, encompassing both routine maintenance and more extensive repairs, including collision work. For local users in the St. Paul, MN area, Snelling Auto Service would be a potential option for their automotive needs.

When considering any auto repair facility, it's customary for customers to evaluate aspects such as the shop's environment, the scope and quality of services offered, any unique features or distinguishing factors, and promotional information that might attract business. Based on the provided customer reviews, here's an objective introduction to Snelling Auto Service.

Environment

The **environment** of an auto repair station is often judged by its cleanliness, organization, and the professionalism of its staff. While specific details about the physical layout or waiting area of Snelling Auto Service are not provided, customer feedback offers insights into the operational environment. One review points to a lack of attention to detail and care from employees during a routine oil change, stating, "your employees didn't care enough to check everything." This suggests that the internal operating environment might lack consistent adherence to service standards or thoroughness. Another review concerning collision repair implies a prolonged service period, with the car held for "over a month," and issues with evasiveness regarding parts and costs, which can contribute to a frustrating customer environment rather than a transparent and efficient one.

Services

As an **Auto Repair Station**, Snelling Auto Service is expected to offer a variety of services for vehicles. The provided reviews specifically mention **oil changes** and **collision repair**, indicating that these are among their offerings. For oil changes, the expectation is a quick and thorough service that includes additional checks like tire pressure, windshield fluid top-off, and tire rotation. However, one customer explicitly noted being "refused a tire rotation" and a lack of these additional checks during an oil change, despite trusting the "Snelling/university location" for this service in the past. This suggests inconsistency in their routine maintenance service delivery.

For **collision repair**, which typically involves extensive bodywork, paint matching, and structural adjustments, the services would include fixing damage from accidents. The review for collision repair, however, details significant dissatisfaction. Issues highlighted include "poorly" done body work, such as a misaligned hood that was allegedly "hit... with a hammer until it was completely sideways" rather than properly adjusted. Other reported problems include an "incorrectly installed" new battery requiring repair at another shop, headlights that "aren't properly placed so they face different directions," and a grill that "isn't flush with the rest of my car." These detailed accounts suggest a significant lack of quality in the collision repair services provided, leading to multiple subsequent problems for the vehicle owner. The evasiveness on "parts and costs" and repeated delays in "finish time" also speak to concerns about the transparency and efficiency of their repair process.

Features

In terms of **features**, an Auto Repair Station aims to offer qualities that attract and retain customers, such as skilled technicians, efficient service, transparent communication, and reliable repairs. Based on the customer feedback, Snelling Auto Service appears to have certain challenges in consistently delivering these features:

  • Speed for Basic Service (Oil Change): One positive note is that the oil change was performed "quickly." However, this speed seems to come at the expense of thoroughness, as other advertised checks were not completed.

  • Customer Trust (Initially): One customer mentioned finally "trusted someone else to change my oil" at this location, suggesting that at one point, they might have built some level of customer confidence, though this appears to have eroded.

Conversely, the reviews highlight features that appear to be lacking:

  • Quality of Workmanship: The detailed account of the collision repair points to significant issues with the quality of the bodywork and installations, leading to ongoing problems and external validation that the work was poorly executed. This directly contradicts the expectation of reliable and lasting repairs.

  • Attention to Detail: The refusal of a tire rotation and omission of basic checks during an oil change indicate a lack of attention to advertised or expected service details.

  • Transparency and Communication: Evasiveness on "parts and costs" and repeated delays in completion time during the collision repair process suggest poor communication and a lack of transparency, which are critical for customer trust in a repair shop.

  • Customer Care: The sentiment "your employees didn't care enough" and the overall negative experience with collision repair, including the need for subsequent fixes at other shops, indicate a potential deficiency in customer care and satisfaction focus.

Promotional Information

While no explicit promotional offers or advertising content is provided in the input, businesses like Snelling Auto Service would typically promote their services through convenience, expertise, and competitive pricing. However, the provided customer reviews serve as significant "promotional" or, more accurately, "deterrent" information. The repeated advice from other mechanics that the customer "got played at this shop" and the direct recommendation "I really really don't recommend" are powerful messages that counteract any positive promotional efforts.

For local users, the existing online information suggests exercising extreme caution when considering Snelling Auto Service for their car repair needs. The detailed accounts of dissatisfaction with both routine maintenance and complex collision repairs, coupled with issues of communication and quality, would likely influence potential customers to seek services elsewhere. A business's reputation, especially in the auto repair industry, is heavily influenced by customer experiences, and the negative feedback available online would likely override any direct promotional materials.

Got my oil changed quickly but was refused a tire rotation!!! No checks on tire pressure,no windshield fluid top off, nothing of that sorts!!! I go to this Snelling/university location because I finally trusted someone else to change my oil, now I think I'll do my own because your employees didn't care enough to check everything and rotate my tires like I asked!! Do what you advertise or get out of the business!!!

Got my car fixed there last April after an accident, to this day whenever I go to other shops, I get comments on how poorly the body work was on my car. They're always so shocked at how much I paid and basically recommend I get some money back. So yeah, I really really don't recommend. Just an example on what I mean, my hood was misaligned from the accident, instead of adjusting the hood so it aligned with the bottom hook, it looks like he hit the top hook with a hammer until it was completely sideways so it fell into the slot so my hood closes. Installed a new battery incorrectly so I had to jiggle it to start my car and had to pay to get it correctly installed at another shop. Also my headlights aren't properly placed so they face different directions and my grill isn't flush with the rest of my car but he had already had my car for over a month by the time he was "done." He was being evasive on the parts and costs of each part and also was pushing the finish time down again and again and I honestly don't trust to leave it with him to fix it, even for free. There's more but I'll leave it at that. Wasn't planning on leaving a review but I keep hearing things from other car shops about my car that really show that I got played at this shop and I don't want someone else to go through that too.

2008 Town and Country radiator replacement. Google said cost should be $280 to $380. They charged $460 and then brought it down to $420. $75 for fluid alone... Work done well though. Just check the numbers. I should have been more clear on costs prior to work. I assumed they were a good price and was mistaken.
