Peterbilt of Des Moines Service Introduce

For the trucking industry and heavy-duty vehicle operators in Ankeny, Iowa, and the broader Des Moines area, Peterbilt of Des Moines Service, located at 5825 SE Delaware Ave, Ankeny, IA 50021, USA, stands as a critical resource within the "Auto Repair Stations" category. This facility is specifically designed and equipped to cater to the unique and demanding needs of Peterbilt trucks and other heavy-duty commercial vehicles, offering specialized services, genuine parts, and expert diagnostics.

The environment at Peterbilt of Des Moines Service is inherently industrial and professional, built to accommodate large commercial trucks. As a Peterbilt dealership service center, it features numerous service bays, often exceeding 20, capable of handling the size and complexity of semi-trucks. The location is conveniently situated adjacent to Sam's Club, easily accessible from I-35 (Exit 89 towards Corporate Woods Drive). While the primary focus is on the vehicle, the facility likely includes a driver waiting room, a common amenity at such centers, designed to offer some comfort during service, as hinted by a positive review mentioning a "pretty decent driver waiting room." The overall atmosphere is structured for efficiency, aiming to minimize downtime for commercial operators, which is crucial for their business. The service center operates with specific hours to support the trucking industry, typically Monday-Friday, from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM, and Saturday from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, with Sunday closures.

Peterbilt of Des Moines Service offers an extensive array of services tailored for heavy-duty trucks, including Peterbilt models and often other makes as well. Their core offerings include comprehensive diagnostics and repair for complex issues, such as those related to engines (including Cummins, CAT, and PACCAR), transmissions (Eaton, Allison), and other critical systems. They handle routine maintenance like oil changes, and more intricate repairs related to cooling systems, clutches, and oil leaks, as evidenced by customer experiences. The service center boasts "24 service bays with factory-trained technicians," ensuring that mechanics are specialized in heavy-duty vehicle repair and utilize advanced diagnostic equipment to identify and resolve problems. Beyond mechanical repairs, they likely offer services related to brakes, suspension, electrical systems, and emissions components. A significant aspect of their operation is their "huge Retail Parts Department," which stocks a wide inventory of "quality truck parts for All Makes," including OEM Peterbilt and aftermarket options, ensuring availability of necessary components for repairs. They also provide preventative maintenance to help fleets cut costs and minimize downtime, and offer warranty support for their services and parts. Furthermore, Peterbilt offers TruckCare® Roadside Assistance, a 24/7 service that can connect drivers to help with towing, jump starts, tires, and mechanical repairs, though this is a broader Peterbilt network offering rather than specific to this location's immediate services.

Several key features define the Peterbilt of Des Moines Service. A major feature is their specialization in heavy-duty trucks, providing a level of expertise and equipment not typically found at a standard passenger vehicle auto repair station. The presence of "factory-trained technicians" who know Peterbilt vehicles intimately and "advanced diagnostic equipment" ensures a high level of technical capability. The extensive parts department is another crucial feature, reducing wait times for parts and ensuring the use of genuine or high-quality aftermarket components. However, customer experiences highlight important features that can impact satisfaction. While some reviews praise "Great people, great service," and instances where staff like "Rey, the service Manager," "Melissa," "Levon," and the parts team (Josh, Erica, Mackenzie, Mikey, and Ray) are "super helpful," and manage to get trucks "fixed quickly," there are also significant concerns. A detailed negative review points to issues with diagnostic accuracy, repeated repairs for the same problem (coolant loss, clutch noise, oil leak), and lengthy turnaround times (up to 16 days or even 3 weeks wait for follow-up). The customer also reported spending "over 20K" without resolution for recurring issues, suggesting a feature of inconsistent service outcomes. The availability of loaner vehicles, a crucial feature for commercial operators, also appears to be a point of contention, with offers sometimes being "half-hearted" and not followed through, leading to significant inconvenience. This mixed feedback indicates that while the facility has the infrastructure and trained personnel, the actual customer experience can vary significantly depending on the specific issue and service management.

Regarding promotional information, Peterbilt of Des Moines Service, as part of the broader Peterbilt dealer network (likely Midwest Peterbilt Group), regularly offers service specials and parts promotions. These are typically advertised on the dealership's website and sometimes through direct communication to fleet customers. Promotions can include discounts on various parts categories such as aftertreatment, battery & charging, brakes, cooling systems, drivetrain, engines, exhaust & intake, and more. For instance, there might be specific dollar-off deals on TRP® brand air dryer cartridges, brake rotors, wheel seals, or brake shoe kits, with specific redemption limits and validity dates. These promotions are designed to support heavy-duty truck operators by offering cost savings on essential maintenance and replacement parts. Customers are advised to check the Midwest Peterbilt Group website or contact Peterbilt of Des Moines Service directly via phone at (515) 957-5602 or +1 515-957-5602 to inquire about any current exclusive specials, limited-time offers, or programs like the PACCAR Parts Fleet Services Program, which provides consolidated billing and customized reporting for larger fleets. It is important for customers to clarify the terms and conditions of any promotion and to confirm estimates, especially given the varying customer experiences regarding diagnostic accuracy and repair timelines.

Peterbilt of Des Moines Service Customer Reviews

I have used this shop several times during the course of 7-8 months. Unfortunately the truck I own has had several issues throughout the months which had me coming back. I originally came in because I was loosing coolant, the shop was never able to figure out what it was and I was told to replace a coolant line. That did not repaired the issue. Then while I brought the truck for an oil change, I explained to the shop foreman that I was having issues with rattling coming from the clutch area. He immediately told me that I had to get clutch replaced to get issued corrected. So I paid them to replace the clutch and after 1000-1500 miles the same noise came back! I have taken it back a couple times to have them identify the issue with luck. Most recently I brought the truck in because I had an oil leak which they said it would be repaired by replacing an oil sensor. Guess what!? The problem still there, leak stops for maybe a day and now they want me to wait almost 3 weeks so they can look at the truck once again. I’m beyond disappointed with this place. I have spent over 20K at this place on several repairs and they simply can’t get a thing done right… beware of this place. I will never go back…
