---

Environment and Atmosphere

As an auto repair shop specializing in tires and offering general repair services, the environment at Mr. Tire is typically a functional and practical garage setting. This would include multiple service bays equipped with lifts, tire mounting and balancing machines, and tools necessary for various automotive repairs. The atmosphere would be that of a working mechanic shop, focused on the technical aspects of vehicle service. While specific details about a customer waiting area are not provided, it is common for such establishments to have a basic space for customers to wait during shorter services. The primary emphasis is on the mechanical work performed on vehicles, suggesting a no-frills, utilitarian approach to the physical space.

Services Offered

While the name "Mr. Tire" clearly indicates a specialization in tire-related services, a typical "Auto Repair Station" under this umbrella would offer a broader range of maintenance and repair options. Based on the customer reviews provided, and the general scope of similar businesses, the services offered by Mr. Tire would likely include:

  • Tire Services: This is a core offering, encompassing tire repairs (plugs, patches), tire mounting and balancing, and potentially new tire sales. The review specifically mentions a "temporary tire plug," indicating this service is performed.

  • Wheel Alignment: One review explicitly states a customer went for an "alignment" and paid for it, confirming this service is offered.

  • General Auto Repair: While not as prominently featured as tire services, as an "Auto Repair Station," they would be expected to handle general automotive maintenance and repairs, though specific details are not provided beyond what is implied by the reviews.

The information suggests a focus on quick, common services like tire repair and alignments, which are frequently sought by vehicle owners.

Features and Customer Experience

The available customer reviews for Mr. Tire present a consistently negative portrayal of the business, highlighting several critical issues regarding service quality, transparency, and professionalism. It is important to objectively present these reported features:

  • Questionable Tire Repair Practices: A customer reported being charged $30 for a "temporary tire plug" on a dismounted spare tire, expressing strong dissatisfaction with the cost and the temporary nature of the repair, implying it was not a professional, permanent patch. This suggests a potential lack of transparency in repair methods and pricing for a fundamental tire service.

  • Concerns Regarding Professionalism and Ethics: Multiple strong allegations are made, including being called "fools," and accusations of being "Nigerian scammers," installing "used parts," and charging "thousands." While these are severe allegations and not independently verified, their presence in customer feedback indicates a significant breakdown in trust and a perception of unethical business practices. The statement "it seems they are not even mechanics" further questions the competency of the staff.

  • Lack of Transparency in Alignment Services: A customer who paid $124.79 for an alignment was not provided with the standard "report form that they normally measure at MIDAS where it reports the degrees and inclination and alignment of the wheels." This lack of documentation raises serious concerns about the thoroughness and verification of the alignment service performed. The request for an additional $180 to adjust the steering tie rod, which the customer claims is part of the alignment, further exacerbates concerns about hidden costs and pricing transparency.

  • Poor Customer Service and Refusal of Refunds: One customer reported being "kicked out of his shop for complaining" and being refused a refund for a disputed alignment service. This indicates a highly confrontational and unprofessional approach to customer grievances, highlighting a complete disregard for customer satisfaction and conflict resolution.

  • Negative Comparisons to Competitors: The customer explicitly recommends "MIDAS OR ANOTHER SHOP ARE BETTER WITH AND BETTER PRICES," even stating that MIDAS's alignment cost was "$115 below the cost of this shop" (note: the text says $115 below the cost of this shop, but the price for Mr. Tire was $124.79, so it likely means Midas was $115 total, which is less than $124.79, implying a better price). This direct comparison further diminishes Mr. Tire's standing in terms of both service quality and value.

The overwhelming consensus from the provided reviews suggests significant issues with service quality, transparency, pricing, and customer handling. The accusations of unprofessional conduct and potentially unethical practices are very serious concerns for any prospective customer.

Promotional Information

No specific promotional information, discounts, or special offers for Mr. Tire at 1201 Rice St are available in the provided text or readily found through general online searches. This is not uncommon for independent auto repair shops, especially those with a challenged reputation. Typically, businesses in the "Auto Repair Stations" category would leverage various promotions such as seasonal discounts, new customer incentives, or package deals to attract and retain clientele. However, the absence of such publicized information for Mr. Tire, coupled with the highly negative customer feedback, suggests that the business may not be actively engaging in promotional campaigns or that any such efforts are overshadowed by the reported service issues. For a business with such critical customer reviews, relying on word-of-mouth would be highly detrimental, and a lack of overt promotions further compounds the challenge of attracting new customers.

I live near this shop and took my car for an alignment. I paid $124.79. I normally go to MIDAS auto repair shop. I was in a hurry. They gave me the car key and told me it was already . They did not give me the report form that they normally measure at MIDAS where it reports the degrees and inclination and alignment of the wheels. I went back to complain but the owner said that they had to adjust the steering tie rod and that they would charge me $180 more when this is part of the alignment. I claimed my money back, which the owner refused to do and kicked me out of his shop for complaining. I RECOMMEND YOU NOT GO TO THIS SHOP. MIDAS OR ANOTHER SHOP ARE BETTER WITH AND BETTER PRICES. AT MIDAS the cost of an alignment is $115 below the cost of this shop.

DO NOT GO HERE!!! Went to get new tires, and ever since then my car has been shaking so bad. Brought it to Nelson’s Auto on Lyndale, and they said this place left on the old weights and put on new weights as well, and it was completely unbalanced. Drove my car today after it was fixed, smooth as can be. Please do not go here if you care about your car and money.

Horrible alignment, tires are showing belts after a 1000 miles. Wouldn't recommend. Don't waste your money.

Went in for an alignment after getting some work done on my car. Owner came out and talked to me and answered all of my questions thoroughly, then offered to take the car in that day! The price was reasonable and the service was excellent and fast. I will definitely going back in the future. They also gave me cookies!
