Masters Oil Change Introduce

Located at W 2nd St, St Johns, MI 48879, USA, Masters Oil Change has been a familiar name for many local residents seeking routine vehicle maintenance. While the name on the sign may have changed, the location continues to serve the community as an auto repair station, now operating under the name Performance Plus. This establishment falls under the “Auto Repair Stations” category, providing essential services and goods for sale related to vehicle upkeep and repair. For those in St Johns looking for a place to get their oil changed or other quick car services, this location remains a point of interest.

When considering an auto repair station, the **environment** plays a significant role in a customer's experience. From the outside, the facility at W 2nd St appears to be a standard automotive service center. Inside, customers would typically expect a waiting area, a service counter, and bays where vehicles are worked on. While specific details about the current interior aesthetic of Performance Plus are not readily available, most auto service centers aim for a clean, organized, and functional space. The mention of a "big screen TV" where prices are "usually on" suggests an attempt to modernize the customer experience within the waiting area, providing information and potentially entertainment while customers wait for their vehicles to be serviced. This indicates an effort to create a more transparent and comfortable environment, although customer experiences suggest that this transparency isn't always fully realized.

The core **services** provided at this location, under both its previous name Masters Oil Change and its current iteration Performance Plus, center around quick vehicle maintenance. The primary service highlighted by customer reviews is **oil changes**. This typically includes draining old oil, replacing it with new oil (conventional, synthetic, or a blend, depending on customer preference and vehicle requirements), and replacing the oil filter. Beyond just an oil change, standard services at such establishments often include a courtesy check. This can involve topping off fluids like washer fluid, checking tire pressure, inspecting wiper blades, and verifying the functionality of vehicle lights. These supplementary checks are crucial for overall vehicle health and safety, making them a significant part of the value proposition for customers seeking an oil change.

However, customer reviews suggest there might be discrepancies between advertised services and actual execution. For example, one review explicitly states that while the checklist indicated wipers, tires, and lights were checked, "NONE OF THAT WAS DONE." Another customer's experience highlights an issue with tire pressure, where the tire caution light remained on even after the vehicle was returned, indicating that the tires were not properly inflated or the system was not reset correctly. These instances suggest that while a comprehensive list of services may be offered, the consistency of their delivery might vary, which is an important consideration for potential customers.

Regarding **features**, the location's primary feature is its focus on quick, routine maintenance. The ability to drive in for an oil change without an extensive appointment process is a convenience for many busy individuals. The presence of service technicians who interact directly with customers is another key feature, allowing for immediate communication regarding vehicle needs. The concept of displaying prices on a "big screen TV" is an attempt at transparency, a feature that, if consistently implemented, could be highly beneficial to customers. Additionally, the location's accessibility on W 2nd St in St Johns makes it a convenient stop for local residents. The rapid turnaround time often associated with oil change specialists is also a significant feature, allowing customers to get back on the road quickly.

From the customer feedback, it's clear that one notable feature, or rather, a change in feature, is the significant **price increase** since the transition from Masters Oil Change to Performance Plus. A customer noted their oil change price "MORE THAN DOUBLED," from approximately $45 to nearly $95 for a conventional oil change, filter, and washer fluid top-off. This drastic change in pricing structure is a crucial piece of information for any local user and directly impacts the perceived value and competitiveness of the service provided. While the establishment may argue for increased service quality or overhead, such a substantial jump in cost is a prominent feature that customers will undoubtedly consider.

As for **promotional information**, based solely on the provided customer reviews and the lack of official promotional material, direct promotional offers are not available. However, the implicit promotion would typically revolve around the convenience of quick service, the comprehensive nature of their oil change package (including the courtesy checks), and the expertise of their technicians. Given the recent change in ownership and pricing, any current promotional efforts would likely focus on re-establishing customer trust and justifying the new price structure. For example, they might offer discounts on first-time visits under the new Performance Plus branding, bundle services, or emphasize the quality of parts and fluids used to explain the increased cost. Without official statements from Performance Plus, any specific promotions are speculative. However, for a business in the auto repair station category, common promotions include seasonal discounts, loyalty programs, or introductory offers for new services or new customers.

The customer reviews provide valuable insights into the reality of the service at this location. While staff interactions were described as "very cordial," the core issues revolved around the disparity between promised and delivered services, particularly the unfulfilled checks (wipers, tires, lights) and the tire pressure issue. These are critical aspects of a professional auto repair station. For local users in St Johns, it's important to be aware of these past experiences when considering Performance Plus for their vehicle maintenance needs. It underscores the importance of customers verifying the completion of services and asking for clarification on pricing before agreeing to work.

In summary, Masters Oil Change, now operating as Performance Plus at W 2nd St, St Johns, MI, continues to function as an auto repair station specializing in oil changes and related vehicle maintenance. Its environment aims for functionality and transparency, while its services encompass oil changes and courtesy checks. Key features include the convenience of quick service, though recent changes have led to a significant increase in pricing. While no specific promotional information is available, understanding past customer experiences is vital for anyone considering their services. Customers are encouraged to inquire about current pricing and service details to ensure their expectations are met.

Masters Oil Change Customer Reviews

Masters has been sold & it's now PERFORMANCE PLUS & my oil change MORE THAN DOUBLED in price since last oil change when it was still Masters (been going to Masters for several years). $95 for 4 quart of conventional 5W30, a filter & topping of my washer fluid. Check list says wipers, tires & lights were check & NONE OF THAT WAS DONE. Prices were not listed but the tech did say the big screen TV is usually on with the prices. When I heard the price of $94.94 I replied that my last oil change was only like $45 and he said "oh really" & walked away. The techs then told me it was no longer Masters. It was all very cordial but at least if your charging SIGNIFICANTLY higher price complete the services you are supposed to. I'm leaving the review here as I do not see a local Performance Plus page.

I had my wife take my truck in for a oil change. Prior to that my tire caution light was on knowing they would fill my tires. After the oil change my wife noticed the tire caution light remained on. My wife took it back immediately. They pressed a button on the steering wheel and said you are all set. My wife left and the caution light remained on I put my own air In myself. All tires were low. You can only reset the caution light if all tire are properly inflated to 39.5. Masters Oil Change didn't live up to their name! Jeff Hull

Every time you go in there for an oil change they try to sell you something. Told me my rear differential fluid was bad and needed changing. Took it to the dealer, perfectly fine. Watch out for the cabin filters you won't need replaced, they'll try to sell ya one of those too. Beware of these shady folks.

I have been a customer for years. The staff is always courteous. Today I came in for my oil change and after checking a few things they said I needed to go to the car parts store for a filter. They were out of my size. I asked if they would discount my fees and they said I would get a percentage off. I went and spent $6 on the filter and went back. After finishing they told me they gave me a $2 discount. I asked to speak with a manager and he said that was all he was allowed to do. Seems like he could have comped me $6 or a free carwash or something. I guess I should have waited for them to get the part themselves. I was not impressed.
