LaFontaine Collision Center & Body Shop Plymouth Introduce

LaFontaine Collision Center & Body Shop Plymouth, located at 21535 Telegraph Rd, Southfield, MI 48033, USA, operates within the 'Auto Repair Stations' category, specifically focusing on collision repair and auto body work. This facility aims to restore vehicles that have sustained damage from accidents, catering to a wide range of car brands, from luxury vehicles like Aston Martin and Tesla to more common makes like Chrysler. For local users in Southfield and the surrounding areas, it presents itself as a solution for post-accident vehicle restoration. However, it is imperative for potential customers to consider the experiences detailed in recent customer reviews when evaluating this establishment for their repair needs.

The environment at LaFontaine Collision Center & Body Shop Plymouth, as depicted by customer feedback, appears to be one that, while physically equipped for complex repairs, is fraught with communication and service integrity challenges. On the operational side, the facility is clearly set up to handle significant body work, including repairs for high-end vehicles, suggesting a capable physical space and specialized equipment. However, the customer service environment, as detailed in the reviews, is a significant area of concern. One customer describes a lack of responsiveness to calls, unreturned messages, and a dismissive attitude when a disparity in information arose. Another review recounts being pressured into a more expensive replacement over a simpler repair, with subsequent calls to management going unanswered. This indicates an environment where customer requests might not be fully honored, and communication can be a significant hurdle, potentially leading to frustration and distrust. The repeated instances of unreturned calls and lack of follow-through paint a picture of an environment where customer satisfaction, particularly outside of insurance claims, might not be consistently prioritized.

LaFontaine Collision Center & Body Shop Plymouth provides specialized services primarily centered around collision repair and auto body work. Their core offerings include repairing cosmetic and structural damage resulting from accidents. This encompasses various tasks such as:

  • **Bumper Repair/Replacement**: As seen in the Aston Martin case, they handle damage to vehicle bumpers, though their approach may lean towards replacement over repair.
  • **Body Panel Repair**: Implied by general collision services, they address damage to vehicle panels.
  • **Painting and Refinishing**: Necessary after body work to match the vehicle's original finish.
  • **Diagnostic Code Clearing**: As seen with the Tesla review, they address electronic issues and codes that arise post-accident, though the thoroughness of this service is a point of contention.
  • **Working with Insurance Companies**: Both reviews indicate that customers brought their vehicles in for accident-related repairs, implying their involvement in insurance claim processes.

While they handle a range of vehicles, including luxury brands, the services seem to be dictated by their preferred repair methods, as opposed to customer-preferred, potentially more cost-effective, solutions. The phone number for contacting LaFontaine Collision Center & Body Shop Plymouth is (313) 561-5850 or +1 313-561-5850.

The features of LaFontaine Collision Center & Body Shop Plymouth, based on the provided reviews, present a complex picture. On the positive side, they have the capability to handle repairs for a wide range of vehicles, including high-end models like Aston Martin and Tesla, suggesting a degree of technical expertise and specialized equipment. They are also involved in the process of working with insurance companies for accident repairs, which can be a convenience for insured customers. However, critical features, as highlighted by customer experiences, include a propensity to recommend more expensive solutions (e.g., bumper replacement instead of repair) even when not explicitly necessary or requested, leading to concerns about potential "gouging." Furthermore, a significant negative feature is a reported lack of consistent and transparent communication. This includes unreturned phone calls, failure to follow up on inquiries, and what customers perceive as misleading information or a lack of due diligence in resolving post-repair issues (e.g., the Tesla diagnostic code). The alleged unwillingness to accommodate customer preferences for repair methods and a perceived focus on maximizing charges, especially for non-insurance related repairs, are also critical features that prospective clients should be aware of. The duration of repairs can also be lengthy, with one vehicle reportedly held for over a month.

Regarding promotional information, no explicit marketing campaigns or discount offers are provided in the given customer reviews. However, the very nature of a collision center is to attract customers who have been involved in accidents and are often directed by insurance companies or seeking professional body work. The implied "promotion" for LaFontaine Collision Center & Body Shop Plymouth would stem from its presence as a reputable collision repair facility handling diverse vehicle types. However, the customer reviews serve as a powerful counter-promotion, cautioning potential clients about potential issues. The first review explicitly advises avoiding the business if not going through an insurance company, warning of charges for "much more work than is needed." The second review, detailing disappointment and a lack of follow-through, explicitly states the customers will "continue to share our experience with everyone we can who is considering bringing their vehicle to this location." These negative testimonials act as a strong deterrent, potentially undermining any perceived value or convenience. Therefore, while the facility might have general advertising or be listed by insurance networks, prospective customers should heavily weigh these critical experiences before deciding to utilize their services. Direct inquiry about repair methodologies and detailed written estimates would be crucial for anyone considering LaFontaine Collision Center & Body Shop Plymouth.

LaFontaine Collision Center & Body Shop Plymouth Customer Reviews

During delivery of my Aston Martin, damage was done to my front diffuser. Nothing more than superficial damage. Due to winter weather here in Michigan I requested a "rough" estimate sending multiple photos which provided a very reasonable depiction of the dameages done, and fully understand how things could change to one degree or another when I was able to take it in pending weather. I originally received an estimate which included replacing my entire front bumper. The quote was not unreasonable , however, replacing the part is not at all necessary. I called back to request a quote to repair, not replace. I did not receive a return call this being a Friday. On Monday I called back in case a message failed to be relayed. Spoke to someone who said they would get back to me, they did not. Third call on Tuesday where I received an apology , but, the reply I got was that they would not repair my bumper if I didn't pay to replace. As a customer I requested a quote to repair and not a replace, and to be told no matter what it is I would like, they will only do a much more expensive repair so they can make money, or refuse service all together is unacceptable. I requested the manager call me back to discuss this matter ,but, as I much expected, given this businesses lack of response in the past, I did not. I have attatched photos to show the damage they say can not be repaired. If you are not going to be going through an insurance company for your repair, I highly recommend avoiding this business as they will look to charge you for much more work than is needed. Aston Martin, Chrysler, doesn't matter, it's body work and something I have had done and seen done many times. Gouging is unacceptable no matter the brand.

I am so disappointed in the service my husband received here with his Tesla. My husband's car was at this shop for over a month for repairs when someone ran a red light and hit him. Near the end of the repairs, the person who had been my husband's main point of contact, Alex, called to say that everything was done except one code needed to be cleared by Tesla. Alex called back later to share that he spoke to people at Tesla and they said the code appeared before the date of the accident so it was not related and thus he did not need to repair it. My husband promptly called Tesla after getting off the phone with Alex and Tesla told him that the code came on on the day of the accident and that this code only ever appears when an accident happens. When my husband called Alex back to communicate this disparity in information, Alex dismissed it and continued to say that Tesla told him something different. He never offered to call Tesla back to look into it, suggesting he was simply trying to get rid of the car. My husband requested that Alex put in writing the information that Tesla gave him for insurance purposes and the blurb that he provided my husband when he picked up the car was cryptically written to avoid any specific details from Tesla, again suggesting that LaFontaine was unwilling to do their due diligence and follow back up when a customer shared differing information that they received. In his research about this, my husband learned that this code cannot be cleared and that a part needs to be ordered to replace it, which takes no more than 20 minutes upon receiving. LaFontaine lost a returning customer over a simple fix and we will continue to share our experience with everyone we can who is considering bringing their vehicle to this location because people do not deserve this level of poor professionalism and lack of follow through to just 'get done' with a car. Extremely disappointed and could have easily been avoided with a quick follow up call and commitment to their customers.

Do not bring your Tesla to this shop. Can’t speak to other brands, but had a terrible customer service experience. When what seemed like a simple mistake on the teams part was discovered they doubled down and would often takes days to return calls. Made thousands from insurance then called to get mad when we gave them a negative review to Tesla directly. Unprofessional and disrespectful.

I had an excellent experience at this shop. They fixed my car in less than a month, and the service was outstanding. The staff was professional, knowledgeable, and kept me updated throughout the entire process. My car runs perfectly now, and I couldn’t be happier with the quick and efficient service I received. Highly recommend!

I found this collision shop while searching for a Tesla-certified location, and I couldn't be more impressed. Their communication was top-notch, and Alex was incredibly kind and accommodating—one of the nicest people I've ever met. I highly recommend this place. They even offer a courtesy car if your insurance doesn't cover rentals.
