For owners of trucks and diesel vehicles in Stayton, Oregon, finding a specialized "Auto Repair Station" that understands the unique complexities of these machines is crucial. Hendricks Truck & Diesel Repair, located at 1339 Miller Dr, Stayton, OR 97383, USA, is a facility that positions itself to meet these specific needs. Environment and Affiliations

Hendricks Truck & Diesel Repair operates as a dedicated repair facility, specifically catering to trucks and diesel engines. As a NAPA Auto Care Center, they are part of a national network of independent automotive repair businesses that adhere to a strict Code of Ethics. This affiliation suggests an environment that aims to provide high-quality diagnostic and repair services using quality NAPA parts, and employ ASE-certified technicians. The business hours typically align with standard workday schedules, often Monday through Friday. While a detailed description of the waiting area or specific customer amenities isn't readily available, the focus of a specialized diesel repair shop is usually on the functionality of the repair bays and the expertise of the technicians. The NAPA Auto Care affiliation also implies a system for fair settlement of customer complaints, should they arise, and a commitment to maintaining high standards within the automotive service profession.

Services Offered

As their name suggests, Hendricks Truck & Diesel Repair specializes in services for trucks and vehicles equipped with diesel engines. Their expertise extends to handling complex issues, as evidenced by customer reviews. One reviewer mentions the installation of a "complete crate 7.3 motor from Ford," indicating their capability with major engine overhauls and replacements. Another review highlights services such as installing a "new clutch and injector cups," along with "multiple other small items" on a 2002 Ford 7.3. These specific examples illustrate a focus on heavy-duty and diesel-specific repairs, which often require specialized tools, knowledge, and experience. General services typically offered by a truck and diesel repair shop operating within the "Auto Repair Stations" category would include:

  • Comprehensive Diesel Engine Diagnostics and Repair
  • Engine Overhauls and Replacements (e.g., Ford 7.3 Powerstroke)
  • Clutch Replacement and Transmission Services
  • Fuel System Repairs, including Injector Replacement and Maintenance
  • Brake System Maintenance and Repair for Heavy-Duty Vehicles
  • Suspension and Steering System Services for Trucks
  • Electrical System Diagnostics and Repair
  • Preventive Maintenance for Diesel Vehicles
  • General Truck and Fleet Maintenance

The NAPA Auto Care affiliation further reinforces their commitment to providing a broad range of repair and maintenance services, leveraging NAPA's extensive parts inventory.

Features and Customer Experiences

The feedback from customers provides a mixed, yet insightful, perspective on Hendricks Truck & Diesel Repair. On one hand, there is a strong endorsement highlighting the team's ease to "work with" and their clear understanding of their craft, stating they "definitely know what they are doing." This positive review specifically commends Shawn for doing "a great job" with a clutch and injector cup installation, leading to a strong recommendation for others. This suggests that when the service is delivered effectively, the shop provides highly skilled and competent repairs, particularly in their area of specialization.

However, another, more extensive review, describes a profoundly negative and frustrating experience. This customer invested over $13,000 for a new 7.3 Ford engine installation and subsequent repairs. The core issues revolve around a persistent problem with black smoke and cold start issues, which the customer attributes to "bad injectors from day 1." The critical points raised in this negative review include:

  • Mismanagement of ECU Tune: The shop initially claimed a pre-existing computer tune (from a previous owner) was fine but then removed it due to warranty concerns, which the customer believes voided the warranty.
  • Inaccurate Diagnostics and Repeated Failures: The shop allegedly misdiagnosed the cold start problem multiple times (blaming the relay, then the intake) without resolving the underlying issue. They eventually claimed "nothing was wrong with it" when the problem persisted, only for it to recur seasonally.
  • Lack of Resolution and Warranty Expiration: After "multiple attempts" to resolve the issue, the customer was eventually told to take the truck to Ford, at which point the warranty had expired, leaving the customer with a costly, unresolved problem.
  • Perceived Negligence and Warranty Voiding: The customer explicitly states they believe the shop "neglected" the issue of bad injectors from the beginning, possibly to avoid accountability for voiding the warranty by not reflashing the computer correctly.

This stark contrast in reviews highlights that while the shop clearly possesses the technical capability for complex diesel repairs, there may be inconsistencies in diagnostic thoroughness, communication regarding warranty implications, and ultimately, ensuring complete customer satisfaction, especially with long-standing or recurring issues. The feature of being a NAPA Auto Care Center, which pledges to "perform high-quality diagnostic and repair services" and "provide a system for fair settlement of customer complaints," is put to the test by such varied experiences.

Promotional Information

Given the nature of the reviews, the most effective promotional strategy for Hendricks Truck & Diesel Repair would be to emphasize their proven successes and address the concerns raised by the less satisfied customers. Their NAPA Auto Care affiliation itself serves as a promotional banner, signaling a commitment to a code of ethics and quality parts. Promotional points would include:

  • Specialization in Truck & Diesel Repair: Highlighting their expertise in complex diesel engines like the Ford 7.3.
  • Use of Quality NAPA Parts: Assuring customers of the quality and reliability of components used in repairs.
  • ASE-Certified Technicians: Promoting the expertise and qualifications of their staff, as pledged by the NAPA Auto Care program.

However, to foster trust and address the negative feedback, any promotional efforts should ideally be coupled with a renewed focus on:

  • Transparent Diagnostic Processes: Clearly communicating findings and potential solutions to customers, especially for complex or recurring issues.
  • Proactive Warranty Management: Ensuring that repairs do not inadvertently void manufacturer warranties and openly discussing such implications with customers.
  • Thorough Follow-up and Resolution: Committing to seeing issues through to full resolution, even if it requires more extensive troubleshooting or referral to other specialists at an earlier stage.

Ultimately, for Hendricks Truck & Diesel Repair, word-of-mouth remains a powerful force. Consistently positive experiences, built on transparent communication, accurate diagnostics, and reliable repairs, will be the most potent form of promotion within the Stayton community.

After having them install a complete create 7.3 motor from ford in the summer . I noticed that I had smoke when I got on it after taking it to the they found out the computer still had a tune on it which should have been removed due to voiding the warranty. They claimed it would be fine and removed it which got rid of the black smoke come that winter I started having cold start issues the claimed it was the relay so I replaced next time the intake so I replaced it and still nothing changed I brought it I'm again and they claimed there was nothing wrong with it then summer came and no problems again tell the next winter again after multiple attempts of tying to get the issue resolved . They finally told me to take it to ford and I did and guess what a month after the warranty was up . I spent over 13k with that motor and install to have a motor with bad injectors from day 1 that they neglected for the only reason I can see was because they voided the warranty by not re flashing the computer . I do not recommend this shop to anyone after my experience

Experiencing issues w/our F-250 6.4 L turbo diesel while traveling, Kevin squeezed us into their busy schedule and had us back on the road the next day. Family owned & operated, fairly priced, friendly staff, extra-mile service truly appreciated. Would be our go-to shop if we chose to stay in this area, but the adventure continues!!!

A Dodge dealership said my 2006 Ram needed needed all 6 injectors replaced at a cost of $5800. Ihad an engine come on. I opted to get a second opinion with Hendricks. They pulled my injectors and had them tested. Results is they tested all good except one had a glitchy solenoid. They also discovered one of the injector tubes had a hairline crack and recommended I have all 6 replaced. Total cost was just $1600. Much, much better than $5800. I will be a repeat customer if ever needed and will recommend this shop to my family and friends.
