Firestone Complete Auto Care Introduce

Located at 1475 Old York Rd, Abington, PA 19001, USA, Firestone Complete Auto Care is an "Auto Repair Station" that offers a wide array of automotive services and goods. They can be reached by phone at (215) 488-7778 or via mobile at +1 215-488-7778. As part of a larger national chain, this Abington location aims to provide comprehensive car care, from tire sales and service to various mechanical repairs and routine maintenance, intending to be a one-stop shop for vehicle owners.

The environment at Firestone Complete Auto Care, like many large service chains, is typically structured for volume and efficiency. While the facility itself likely features a standard layout with a customer waiting area, service bays, and a front counter, the customer reviews indicate that the actual experience within this environment can be mixed. On the one hand, a "nice employees" comment suggests that the staff at the counter aims to be personable and helpful, contributing to a welcoming initial interaction. This implies a customer-facing area that is reasonably clean and accessible. However, the operational environment within the bays and the overall management of the workflow raise concerns. Issues such as cars not being taken back until long after appointment times, extended waiting periods (almost 3 hours for a tire change), and a vehicle being returned "filthy" with a "floor covered in dirt" point to potential challenges in maintaining cleanliness and efficient time management in the workshop area. The mention of scratched rims further suggests a lack of meticulous care during the service process, indicating that while the staff may be friendly, the attention to detail in handling vehicles might vary.

As a "Complete Auto Care" center and an "Auto Repair Station," Firestone offers an extensive range of services to meet diverse automotive needs. These typically include:

  • Tire Sales and Service: This is a core offering, including the sale of a wide selection of tires (such as Firestone and Bridgestone brands), tire mounting, balancing, rotation, and flat repairs. However, customers should be aware that online inventory may not always reflect actual stock, necessitating a call to confirm availability.
  • Oil Changes: Providing various oil change options, including conventional, synthetic blend, and full synthetic, often accompanied by a multi-point vehicle inspection.
  • Brake Services: Comprehensive inspection, repair, and replacement of brake components (pads, rotors, calipers).
  • Battery Testing and Replacement: Diagnosing battery health and installing new batteries when necessary. The customer review mentioned a battery replacement recommendation, though at a significantly higher price than expected.
  • Wheel Alignment: Ensuring proper alignment to prevent uneven tire wear and improve vehicle handling.
  • Steering & Suspension Repair: Addressing issues with shocks, struts, and other components related to vehicle ride and control.
  • Engine Diagnostics & Repair: Troubleshooting check engine lights and performing various engine repairs and tune-ups.
  • Heating & Air Conditioning (HVAC) Service: Repairing and maintaining climate control systems.
  • Fluid Services: Including transmission fluid exchange, coolant fluid exchange, and brake fluid exchange.
  • Wiper Blade and Headlight Repair/Replacement: Basic but essential services for visibility.
  • Vehicle Inspections: Offering complete vehicle inspections to identify potential issues and recommend future maintenance.
  • Electric & Hybrid Vehicle Services: Adapting to modern vehicle technology by providing maintenance and repair for electric and hybrid cars.

The features of Firestone Complete Auto Care are multifaceted, drawing both positive and negative feedback:

  • Broad Service Offering: A major feature is their ability to provide a wide range of services under one roof, making it convenient for customers to get multiple issues addressed at a single location.
  • Online Appointment Scheduling: They offer online appointment booking, which is a modern convenience, though customer reviews suggest there might be discrepancies between online information (e.g., tire stock) and actual availability, and appointment times are not always strictly adhered to.
  • Nationwide Network: As a large chain, they have numerous locations, potentially offering consistent service standards and honoring warranties across different stores.
  • Friendly Counter Staff: At least one review indicates that the front-of-house staff can be "nice to speak to," which can help mitigate frustration during long waits or service issues.
  • Brand Recognition and Trust (General): Firestone is a well-established name in the automotive industry, which can instill a general sense of trust in their products (tires) and services.

However, the customer reviews highlight some significant areas where their features fall short:

  • Poor Time Management and Appointment Adherence: A critical concern is the significant waiting times despite having appointments, and the discrepancy between online stock information and actual availability. This indicates inefficiencies in their operational scheduling and inventory management.
  • Lack of Quality Control in Service Delivery: Scratched rims and a dirty car interior after service point to a lack of care and attention to detail during the repair process, which can lead to customer dissatisfaction and additional costs or efforts for the customer.
  • Questionable Pricing Transparency and Upselling: The experience of a college student being charged more than expected for an oil change and tire rotation, with an unsubstantiated explanation ("tariffs are impacting our labor costs"), coupled with a high-priced battery recommendation that the customer could install cheaper, suggests potential issues with pricing transparency and aggressive upselling tactics.
  • Poor Follow-Up on Complaints: The failure of a manager to call back after a complaint indicates a lack of effective customer complaint resolution, further eroding trust.

Regarding promotional information, Firestone Complete Auto Care, as a national chain, regularly runs various promotions and offers. While specific local deals for the Abington location might vary, common promotions typically include:

  • Tire Rebates and Discounts: Often featuring instant savings or prepaid Mastercard rebates when purchasing a set of four eligible Firestone or Bridgestone tires. These can range from $50 to $160 or more, especially with the use of a Firestone Credit Card.
  • Oil Change Coupons: Discounted rates on their various oil change services, often bundled with a free tire rotation or vehicle inspection.
  • Service Discounts: General coupons offering a percentage or fixed dollar amount off any service purchase above a certain threshold (e.g., $20 off any $100 service).
  • Seasonal Service Specials: Promotions for services relevant to specific seasons, such as A/C performance checks (sometimes as low as $9.99), winterization packages, or brake service specials.
  • Credit Card Holder Exclusives: Special deals and financing options for customers who use their Firestone Credit Card.
  • Free Services: Often include free tire pressure checks, visual brake inspections, and battery tests.

In summary, Firestone Complete Auto Care at 1475 Old York Rd, Abington, PA, offers a broad spectrum of automotive services. While they provide the convenience of a one-stop shop and their front-line staff can be pleasant, the customer reviews highlight significant operational inconsistencies, including poor time management, potential quality control issues, and concerns about pricing transparency and follow-up on complaints. Potential customers should be aware of these reported experiences and consider confirming details like tire availability and service pricing thoroughly before committing to service.

Firestone Complete Auto Care Customer Reviews

Nice employees- terrible time management. I made an appt online for 7am on a Saturday, the appt was confirmed, i get there and they don’t have the tires i selected online in stock. Guy said “oh you should have called.” I don’t know how i was supposed to know that when the store website said they were in stock…rescheduled for 2pm the following day. Also indicated I would be waiting on site. Arrived 15 minutes early for my 2pm appt, they didn’t take my car back until 3pm (why even have appt times?) and didn’t finish with it till 4:45pm. They also scratched my black rims in three places that I have found (that wasn’t the white wax from changing my tires.) I won’t be returning. 3 stars bc the guy at the counter was at least nice to speak to. After almost 3 hrs of waiting i was just too tired to make a stink about my rims. Very similar to how they beat you down in dealerships lol

My daughter (a college student) went to get a standard oil change and tire rotation. She scheduled it between commitments thinking it would take about an hour. Two hours later her car was finished and they told her she needed a new battery. They claimed it would stop working very soon and offered to do it for 400.00. She turned down their offer knowing she could install a battery herself and was in a time crunch. They then charged over 70.00 for the oil change and rotation. She was expecting around 50.00 but was in a hurry because it took so long so didn't check the receipt. When she got in the car it was filthy..the floor was covered in dirt. (See pic below). I called to explain to them what had happened and was told that she could bring the car back and they would clean their mess. This was after 2 hours of waiting and she was back at college meeting with a group 20 minutes away. When asked for an explanation for the bill they said " tariffs are impacting our labor costs"..?? My daughter was never told this before the appt. They also said they would have a manager call her to discuss the complaint but she never got a call back. A highly disappointing experience. 😞

Walked outside and had a flat tire. I was able to get it over to Firestone in Abington and they looked at it right away. They also were so kind and did not charge me for it. I’m so appreciative of everyone there and how quick and helpful they were.

Timely access to their services. They were pleasant, accommodating, and helpful. They orders the tires we requested but then attempted to add on a recycle fee when I had specifically asked to keep the original tires. They were supposed to call when tires arrived, but did not. I called after not hearing in the expected time and was told they were waiting there. On picking up the car, two of the custom valve covers were missing and found by me on the floor of the tire bay. Three of the 4 tires had recommended pressure when I checked them at home.. the 4th was 10 lbs under pressure. Telling it like it is. I expected better service from a major, reputable company and brand.

Towed in with a battery/alternator issue. They quickly told me it was the battery and replaced it. Thirty minutes down the road the battery light came on again and it acted as before. Found another mechanic who showed me right away, it's the alternator. The Firestone guys were super nice but this was a monster hassle.
