D & M Restoration

I sent a wiper motor to be rebuilt- it was sent back a month later without any indication it had even been touched. It was dirty and would not work. I returned the piece and with several telephone calls it was finally returned approximately 6 weeks later. It looked "pristine" but was missing the pump which had been attached when it was sent. I called and they couldn't find the piece. They did reimburse me $50.00 for the part they lost. I took this "pristine" looking wiper motor in for install. It did not work. In fact, the wiring inside hadn't been touched. It was brittle, taped in some cases and broken. At the end of the day, over $250.00 and two months of my time with nothing to show for it. I would never recommend dealing with D & M.

I sent a total of 4 gauges from a classic car (1957 Thunderbird) to DM for overhaul. These were originally sent out in the spring of 2023 and returned summer of the same year. Both the speedometer and the clock failed within weeks of delivery and I sent both back to DM for warranty repair. Add to that two (2) of the needles/faces were not repainted, their solution was to send me paint and have me paint them. Isn’t that what I paid you guys for? Originally I had wanted the clock to be converted to a quartz movement, but their website indicated that the current supplier of these parts were unreliable and they were no longer doing quartz conversions on the clocks. The returned items made it through the summer of 2023 and then again both the clock and the speedometer failed. I sent both back in spring of 2024. When I called their office I spoke with Jack and he was surprised to hear their website was claiming quartz movements were not available as they had found a new supplier. I asked about the cost of the repair and he said they would do it for $50-60 dollars, they would eat the labor as it had been back so many times. The speedometer was returned to me a few weeks later and the clock was left at the shop to be converted. I had sent a letter with the clock stating that at any point the conversion would exceed the manager’s estimate that I should be called. To date DM has NEVER placed a phone call to me, for any reason. The week of June 17th I called and spoke to Keith; he stated that the technician had been in an accident but the clock was on his desk and would be then next one in line. After no response from them I called again the week of July 10th. And was told that I would receive a phone call by the end of the day, which never happened. I called again the week of July 15th and spoke to Keith. I was told the conversion was done and that the clock had to “run” for several days prior to shipping, but it would ship Monday 7/21 and I would receive a tracking number, no call back. Today, 7/24 I called again and now I am told the conversion was never done, despite being told so on several occasions that it had, and the conversion would now be $125 in parts and $250 in labor. I asked that the clock be returned to me. This business has no integrity in my opinion, and the reasoning behind that statement is they refuse to stand behind what their employees tell customers. Answers like “he doesn’t know” or “that isn’t correct” are not my problem. If those employees can’t answer questions properly they shouldn’t be answering the phone.

I could not be happier. My Smiths gauges are working again, spot on! And, I appreciate the turn around time and cost in order to restore yet another feature of my '65 Volvo 1800S.

Last 3 jobs have been sub par Final job was charged double & the gage came bac not wrkn Been calling for 3 wks & have not received a call back from Jack only received partial refund not correct amount & they don't care one bit Don't use them Zero customer service & they will just tell u there to busy

Got the gauge for my 1941 Willys MB Slat Grill refaced to read Gas instead of Fuel. It looks great. Work was completed within the time frame they stated. I am pleased with the result. Thank you for doing a great job.

Incompetent, Unprofessional, and Dismissive. I sent in my 1959 Thunderbird Fuel / Temp Gauge September 26th to be repaired after verifying this was something the company is capable of via email exchange. On October 13th, I called to ensure the part had gotten there and make sure there were no issues, as I'd heard nothing back. Full Disclaimer: I did not put means by which to contact me, other than my return address. Means of contact were in my email signature, but I will accept responsibility on that. Rene was very bothered but told me I would be hearing from a technician as the work was "just about wrapped up." I called again November 1st after no communication following the October 13th phone call. It was on this phone call with Jacob that after sitting on the bench for over a month, it was determined that my part cannot be fixed, and I'm on the hook to cover the return shipping. Unbelievable.
