Good to have the Ford Explorer 2018 back home. Thank you, Bobby.. Nearing 120,000 miles on the odometer. Transmission was shifting hard or dropping power between some gears. Was worse when starting up at these recent near zero temps. Checked around. Had AAA flatbed it to Aamco Reynoldsburg while I flew to New Mexico on assignment. Online estimates for an all wheel drive transmission repair or replace @ $3,000 to $6,000. I had changed the fluids a week before and thought that was a remedy.....Not. Aamco ran some diagnostics and cleared some codes. Based on their Root Cause Analysis, the cause was .....loose negative battery cable. 😃 😊 $75 plus tax. Fix appears to be effective. On the road again. 2,000 miles of test driving ahead. Then, on to 300,000 miles.

We have a 2011 F150 that Aamco has just been a life saver to work with. The team there is friendly knowledgeable and professional no matter what. They did a fantastic job overhauling the six speed transmission and was helpful with offering financing options. I will recommend this Aamco to anyone.

I dropped off my car here for a diagnostic concerning a fluid leak. The next morning I received a call back, assuring me the cause of the leak was a simple loose oil drain plug and oil filter, the issue was totally fixed, and it was no longer leaking. I picked my car up to find, after only 30 minutes of being home, that there was still a leak. I called and the man said it was “residual” and to run it through a car wash and it would be fine. I did as he instructed, but it continued leaking. I took it back to them that same day, and when they looked at it again they said it “looks like” the leak is coming from the oil filter, but likely wasn’t the filter itself, rather it was the part the filter connects to on the engine. They were willing to replace that part for $500, and when I asked “but you don’t know if that’s actually going to fix the leak?” he said no. I spent $75 for the “diagnostic”, $22 for a car wash, plus about $50 in Uber rides over the course of 24 hours and still never got an actual diagnosis for the leak. These guys are willing to load up the parts cannon (with your money, of course) and just start shooting. Biggest waste of time and money. Do not take your car here unless you are willing to spend entirely too much for them to only guess what might be wrong with your car, instead of simply cleaning the engine, adding some dye to the oil and looking to see where the leak is coming from - otherwise known as performing a proper diagnostic for an oil leak. To make matters worse, I also found a few things missing from my car after I left. It only cost me $50 to replace what was taken, but still, not a good look. It’s also worth mentioning that when I took my car back to them for a second attempt at a proper diagnostic, I overheard a conversation between the man I dealt with through this process and another guy who was working there. They didn’t realize I had come in yet, and the door between the lobby and the garage was left wide open so I overheard the one say he was going to “bring some of those pre rolls” and I’m assuming they were referring to pre rolled marijuana cigarettes, as I am not familiar with any other type of “pre rolls” that would make sense in the context of that particular conversation. I will never take my car to this or any AAMCO ever again. This was by far the worst experience I have ever had with a large, well known company I previously thought of as reputable, and it was also my worst experience with any mechanic, ever.

These guys are great. Tommy definitely went above and beyond to get the warranty repair coverage setup. I really appreciate the work.
