Services Offered

The Sunoco at 305 S Hamilton St in Painted Post, NY, offers a range of services typical of a modern gas station, designed to meet the needs of motorists and general consumers.

  • Gasoline and Diesel Fuel: As a primary service, the station provides various grades of gasoline, and typically diesel fuel, to power a wide array of vehicles. Sunoco is known for its commitment to fuel quality.

  • Convenience Store: An on-site convenience store is available, offering a selection of common items such as snacks, beverages, and other quick necessities for travelers and locals.

  • Unique Prepared Food & Snacks: This particular Sunoco location stands out due to its offering of "delicious Indian snacks" like "one dollar samosas." This suggests a specialty food section beyond typical gas station fare, providing a unique culinary experience for customers looking for something different and affordable.

  • Restrooms: The station is equipped with restrooms for customer use, an essential amenity for both local patrons and those on longer journeys.

  • Sunoco Go Rewards® Program: As part of the larger Sunoco network, this location likely participates in the Sunoco Go Rewards program, allowing customers to earn savings on fuel purchases through a loyalty system.

  • ATM: While not explicitly mentioned in the provided reviews, most full-service gas stations with a convenience store typically include an ATM for cash withdrawals, adding to customer convenience.

While the unique food offerings are a significant draw, it is important to acknowledge conflicting customer service experiences, as detailed in the features section below.

Features / Highlights

The Sunoco station at 305 S Hamilton St in Painted Post, NY, offers several notable features, though customer experiences reveal a spectrum of interactions.

  • Exceptional Indian Snacks: This is a standout highlight, explicitly praised by a customer for offering "delicious Indian snacks," particularly "one dollar samosas" that were described as "stupid cheap, superbly spicy, and sumptuously satisfying." This unique culinary offering provides a significant differentiator and a pleasant surprise for customers accustomed to typical gas station food. It suggests a focus on providing diverse and high-quality prepared food items.

  • Affordable Prepared Food: The customer found the Indian snacks to be incredibly cost-effective, stating they "stocked up for the entire remainder of the trip for the price of eating fast food for one meal (about $15)." This emphasis on value for money in prepared food is a major benefit for budget-conscious travelers and locals.

  • Friendly Staff Experience: One reviewer specifically noted, "Plus the owner/employee was super nice." This positive interaction highlights a commitment to good customer service, which can significantly enhance the overall experience at a gas station.

  • Recognized Fuel Brand: Being a Sunoco station, it provides access to a widely recognized brand of fuel, which generally assures quality and performance for vehicles.

  • Convenience Amenities: Like most Sunoco locations, it offers essential amenities such as restrooms and likely an ATM, catering to the immediate needs of motorists.

However, it is crucial to address a concerning customer service experience that stands in stark contrast to the positive feedback:

  • Negative Customer Service Incident: One customer reported an extremely negative interaction where an employee "comes out and yells at me for throwing my garbage in the garbage can." This escalated into a heated exchange over the use of the garbage cans and a payment issue that resulted in the customer leaving without purchasing fuel and vowing "will never go back." This incident indicates a significant breakdown in customer relations and suggests potential issues with staff demeanor or policy enforcement.

These contrasting reviews highlight that while the station offers unique and highly appreciated food items and can provide excellent service, there are also instances of very poor customer interaction that severely detract from the experience. This duality suggests variability in staff behavior or management consistency.

  • In-Store Specials: Beyond fuel, the convenience store may feature rotating promotions on its unique Indian snacks, beverages, and other convenience items. Look for bundled deals or discounted prices on specific food items that could further enhance their value.

Sunoco Customer Reviews

I’d give it 0 stars if I could. Before getting my gas the douche bag at the register comes out and yells at me for throwing my garbage in the garbage can. Saying “This is a place of business you can not just throw your garbage here.” To which I said “it’s a garbage can.” He then said “do you see any garbage cans anywhere that you can throw away any garbage?!” I then pointed at both garbage cans next to the gas pumps and said “yeah right there.” He then said “well did you buy gas?!” And I said “I was about to!” But then my card got declined (I had plenty of money to pay) and it said to pay inside and I wasn’t going to do that so I left and will never go back.

I was driving from Michigan to Maine, hating the idea of eating only gas station and fast food. Then I had the great fortune of stopping in here. Hesitantly I piled up a stash of delicious Indian snacks, worried about the cost at checkout because everything was unlabeled on the shelves. To my shock, I found that I had stocked up for the entire remainder of the trip for the price of eating fast food for one meal (about $15). Amazing! Plus the owner/employee was super nice. Edit: the one dollar samosas were stupid cheap, superbly spicy, and sumptuously satisfying.

Owners are very friendly and helpful. On my last visit went to use the restroom and found that there was no toilet paper or paper towels to be used.

Pump 1 is not working, charging ultra $$ for regular gas. Please check your receipt every time you fill gas here. The staff was ultra rude too asked me to take out the gas and return😂 when I said the pump was not working properly
