Features / Highlights

Speedway at 891 Addison Rd distinguishes itself with several key features and highlights, though some are accompanied by customer concerns:

  • 24/7 Operation: A significant highlight is its round-the-clock availability. Being open "24/7" means customers can refuel or purchase convenience items at any time, day or night, providing unparalleled flexibility for those with unusual schedules or late-night needs.

  • Convenient Location: As mentioned, its placement on Addison Road makes it easily accessible for local residents and travelers, simplifying daily errands or quick stops on longer journeys.

  • Branded Fuel (Marathon): As a Speedway station, it offers Marathon brand fuel, which typically adheres to certain quality standards and may be preferred by drivers loyal to that brand.

  • Speedy Rewards Program: While not explicitly mentioned in the provided reviews for this specific location, Speedway's national loyalty program, Speedy Rewards, is a major feature for the brand. This program allows members to earn points on fuel and merchandise purchases, which can be redeemed for discounts on future purchases, offering significant savings for frequent visitors. This is a common draw for repeat customers.

However, it's crucial to address the significant concerns raised by customer reviews. These include:

  • Reported Overcharging and Pricing Discrepancies: Multiple reviews detail instances of being "overcharging for items advertised at a cheaper price" and receiving "double" sales tax charges. This suggests a consistent issue with pricing accuracy at the register versus advertised prices.

  • Customer Service Issues: One review specifically calls out an employee for being "one of the rudest employees I have ever encountered" and refusing to honor advertised prices. Another review implies a lack of proper resolution even after filing a corporate complaint. This indicates potential inconsistencies in staff demeanor and problem resolution.

  • Perceived Expense: One reviewer states the station is "expensive," reinforcing the concern about pricing.

These negative points are important considerations for potential customers, highlighting areas where the station's service may fall short of expectations, despite its convenience.

Promotions or Special Offers

Based on the general operations of Speedway locations and the limited information provided, specific in-store promotions for this particular 891 Addison Rd site are not detailed in the customer reviews. However, the most significant "promotion" inherent to the Speedway brand is its robust loyalty program:

  • Speedy Rewards: This is Speedway's primary customer loyalty program. By signing up for a free Speedy Rewards card or using their app, customers can earn points on almost every purchase, including fuel and most in-store merchandise. These points can then be redeemed for discounts on future fuel purchases, free merchandise, or entries into sweepstakes. It also often provides members with exclusive deals or discounts on specific products. This program is designed to incentivize repeat business and offer ongoing savings.

Beyond Speedy Rewards, like most convenience stores, this Speedway location likely offers various in-store promotions on specific products, such as:

  • Manufacturer Coupons/Discounts: Deals on beverages, snacks, or other items through manufacturer promotions.

  • Bundled Deals: Offers like "buy a coffee, get a donut for $1."

  • Seasonal Promotions: Special offers tied to holidays or events.

To learn about any current, specific promotions at the 891 Addison Rd location, customers are encouraged to visit the store directly, check their digital screens at the pump or inside, or consult the Speedway mobile app or website for local deals, as these can vary by location. The customer complaints about advertised pricing not being honored suggest vigilance is needed when relying on advertised deals.

Conclusion: Why This Place is Suitable for Locals

For residents of Painted Post, NY, and the surrounding areas, the Speedway at 891 Addison Rd offers a clear advantage in terms of convenience and accessibility. Its primary suitability for locals stems from its location on a main thoroughfare and, critically, its "24/7" operating hours. This round-the-clock availability ensures that local New York drivers can access fuel and essential convenience items at any time of day or night, which is invaluable for those with early commutes, late-night shifts, or unexpected needs. The presence of a well-known brand like Marathon for fuel also offers a degree of familiarity and quality assurance that many drivers seek.

The convenience store further enhances its utility, providing a quick stop for snacks, beverages, tobacco, and other necessities without needing to make a separate trip to a grocery store. For frequent visitors, the national Speedy Rewards program offers a tangible benefit, allowing them to earn points and save on future purchases, which can add up over time.

However, it is vital for local users to be aware of the significant concerns raised in customer reviews, particularly regarding pricing discrepancies and instances of rude staff interactions. These issues, including reports of being overcharged and corporate complaints going unresolved, indicate potential inconsistencies in service quality and pricing integrity. While the station offers undeniable convenience, local patrons should exercise vigilance when making purchases, verifying advertised prices against the final charge, and being prepared to address any discrepancies. Despite these challenges, for many in Painted Post, the 24/7 accessibility and a range of standard convenience offerings will continue to make this Speedway a suitable, albeit sometimes cautious, choice for their daily fueling and quick stop needs.

Speedway Customer Reviews

Employee Jimmy Newtron look alike is one of the rudest employees I have ever encountered. Furthermore, make sure you double or even triple check the final prices of the items you buy there. It is established they have been overcharging for items advertised at a chepaer price and will not honor the advertised price. EX Velo+ nictine pouches advertised on front entrance door 1.99 plus tax 1 can per transaction, final price 2.93. Jimmy Newtron look alike will tell you to pay the 2.93 or leave the store he will not override the transaction. UPDATE: Even after filing a complaint with corparate nothing was ever done about this incident. Amzing how a store can overcharge its customers and get away with it.

Conveniently located. 24/7, but expensive. Beware! I was charged $0.72 sales tax twice! Why? Owner lost on his/her March Madness brackets? lol!

This is the worst fueling station in the area. The card readers at the pumps don’t work nor do they work in the store. I suspect they would do a lot more business if they fixed their card readers. Avoid if you can.

Hours I like. Store is clean and eye catching. Food could use better time management and cleaned more regularly.

Food was amazing. Staff were courteous and made sure to know exactly how we wanted our pizza. The place was clean and very organized with a nice selection of products. Definitely will be back. Also has a Dunkin donuts in the location.
