Hello, New Jersey drivers. When it comes to our daily routines, finding a reliable and trustworthy gas station is paramount. We seek places that offer not only convenient access to fuel but also ensure a smooth and pleasant experience. Unfortunately, not all local establishments meet these expectations, and it's crucial for the community to be aware of experiences shared by their fellow New Jerseyans. This article will provide an in-depth, yet cautionary, look at the Sunoco gas station located at 1280 Chews Landing Road in Clementon, NJ. Our aim is to present factual information based on publicly available customer reviews, allowing you to make informed decisions about where you choose to fuel up in the Garden State.
While the Sunoco brand is well-known and generally associated with quality fuels, individual station experiences can vary significantly based on local management and staff. For this particular Clementon location, recent customer feedback has raised serious concerns regarding service quality, attention to detail, and overall professionalism. We understand that drivers need to trust the places they frequent, especially when it involves their vehicles and financial transactions. This overview will delve into specific instances reported by customers, providing a clear picture of the issues that have been brought to light.
In the following sections, we'll detail the station's location and accessibility, discuss the services generally offered by Sunoco (while noting that the execution of these services is where concerns arise for this specific location), highlight the reported features, and, importantly, share the direct experiences of customers. Our objective is to empower you, the local New Jersey user, with the information you need to navigate your fueling options wisely.
The Sunoco station is situated at 1280 Chews Landing Road, Clementon, NJ 08021, USA. Chews Landing Road is a local thoroughfare connecting various residential areas and commercial zones within Clementon and its surrounding communities. Its position makes it accessible for residents in Clementon, Laurel Springs, Lindenwold, and other parts of Gloucester Township. While being on a main road often implies convenience, the context of customer experiences here suggests that physical accessibility alone does not guarantee a positive outcome.
For drivers in the immediate vicinity, the address is straightforward to locate. However, based on customer feedback, the proximity to other well-regarded gas stations, such as a Wawa just two minutes away, becomes a critical factor for local users evaluating their options. The ease of pulling in and out of a gas station is usually a highlight, but if the service itself presents challenges, drivers may opt for nearby alternatives that offer a more reliable and respectful experience.
Typically, a Sunoco branded gas station, including this location, would offer a standard range of services expected from a major fuel retailer. These generally include:
- Fuel Sales: Offering various grades of gasoline. Sunoco is known for its "Top Tier" fuels, which means they meet stringent standards for detergency to help keep engines clean. However, the quality of the pumping experience at this specific location has been directly challenged by customers.
- Convenience Store: Most Sunoco stations feature a convenience store where customers can purchase snacks, beverages, and other essential items. The availability of such a store is standard, but the management and operation of it, as with the fuel service, are key to customer satisfaction.
- ATM Services: Often, gas stations provide an ATM for cash withdrawals, offering a quick way to access funds.
- Basic Amenities: Restrooms and air pumps for tires are generally available for customer convenience.
It is important to differentiate between the standard offerings expected from a brand like Sunoco and the actual execution and customer experience at an individual franchise location. In this case, while the services are theoretically available, the reported incidents suggest significant issues in their delivery.
Based on the provided customer reviews, the features and highlights of this particular Sunoco station are overwhelmingly negative, serving as significant red flags for potential customers. It is critical to present these factual observations directly:
- Rude Attendants: Multiple reviews explicitly state that the attendants are "extremely rude." This directly impacts the customer experience and creates an unwelcoming atmosphere.
- Incompetent Fuel Pumping: A customer reported that attendants "don't even know how to pump gas right," indicating a fundamental failure in delivering the primary service of a gas station.
- Lack of Attention to Detail: A severe incident highlights "horrible attention to detail" and "even worse integrity." This refers to an instance where a prepaid $10 gas purchase resulted in over $70 of gas being pumped, leading to significant dispute and legal issues.
- Absence of Integrity and Morals: The most damning feedback points to a complete lack of "morals or integrity" in how a serious over-pumping error was handled, escalating a simple mistake into a police matter.
- Unprofessional Conduct: The overall handling of customer complaints and the subsequent legal actions are described as "very unprofessional."
- Negative Impact on Brand Loyalty: Even a "biker who solely uses Sunoco for their superior gas" stated they would no longer use this specific location and would not recommend it due to the negative experience. This indicates a severe breakdown in trust.
These detailed accounts from customers serve as the primary "features" of this particular Sunoco, highlighting areas of significant concern rather than positive attributes.
While Sunoco as a brand frequently offers various promotions and loyalty programs, such as the Sunoco Go Rewards program which provides discounts for linking a bank account, or savings with the Sunoco Rewards Credit Card, it is highly unlikely that these benefits would outweigh the reported negative experiences at this specific Clementon location. Customers prioritize basic service and respect above potential discounts when a fundamental lack of professionalism is present.
Any promotional savings would be overshadowed by the risk of encountering rude staff, improper service, or, as one review vividly describes, a dispute leading to legal complications over an operational error. Therefore, while Sunoco the brand has promotions, any local user considering this specific station should weigh those against the significant reported downsides. The recommendation from a prior customer to simply "go to Wawa 2 mins away instead" suggests that the perceived value of any promotion is negated by the poor service.
For those who may still need to contact this specific Sunoco station for any reason, or if you were unfortunately involved in an incident requiring follow-up, here is the publicly available contact information:
- Address: 1280 Chews Landing Rd, Clementon, NJ 08021, USA
- Phone: (856) 245-7892
- Mobile Phone: +1 856-245-7892
It is worth noting that in the case of the over-pumped gas incident, the customer attempted to contact "corporate" and a "territory manager" when local resolution failed, indicating that direct contact with the station may not always lead to a satisfactory outcome for serious issues.
Based on the direct and unambiguous feedback from actual customers, the Sunoco station at 1280 Chews Landing Road in Clementon, NJ, presents significant concerns regarding its suitability for local New Jersey drivers. While any gas station aims to provide convenient access to fuel, the reported issues with rude attendants, fundamental pumping errors, and a severe lack of integrity and professionalism in handling customer disputes make this location highly questionable for reliable daily use.
For New Jersey locals, the value of a gas station extends beyond just the price per gallon. It encompasses the entire experience: efficient service, respectful interactions, and a sense of trust that you are being treated fairly. The detailed accounts of over-pumping, broken agreements, and attempts to press charges for an admitted station error represent a profound breach of this trust. Such incidents are not merely inconveniences; they can cause significant stress, financial burden, and legal complications for innocent customers.
Given that there are readily available alternatives, such as the Wawa located just two minutes away (as explicitly recommended by a dissatisfied customer), it appears that local drivers have better options where they can expect more courteous service and a more professional environment. For the reasons detailed above, this particular Sunoco location, despite its brand name, unfortunately does not align with the standard expectations of convenience, quality, and respectful service that New Jersey residents rightly demand from their local businesses. Local users are advised to exercise caution and consider nearby alternatives when choosing where to fuel up.

Horrible gas station. Attention to detail is horrible, interegrity is even worse. My fiancee who was having a bad day and lost her wallet ran out of gas directly infront of the gloucester township police station. She called the police and 2 very kind police officers pushed her to this gas station. She still had her cashapp card which was not in the wallet she lost. She tried to use the card to put $10 in gas. The card did not work. So she went inside to use the ATM. She withdrew the $10 and told the gas attendant $10 and even prepaid before he pumped it. Well she was on the phone trying to locate her wallet and looks over the gas attendant pumped over $70 worth of gas. My fiancee stayed and went and got the guy inside "whom she thought was the manager". After back and forths he admitted it was their fault the gas was over pumped and said to come back within a week with the remaining balance. So 2 days later My fiancee receives a call from a detective stating the gas station is trying to press charges. I then contacted cooperate and was told not to pay and a territory manager would handle the situation and be in contact. A week later she receives charges for not paying. 1 she would not have had cops push her to the gas station with the intent on robbing them, 2 she would not have stuck around after the fact to come up with a solution, 3 we had every plan on paying the money which was owed until the gas station broke the agreement and tried to make this into something it is not, 4 she has never been in trouble a day in her life and I will not let her get in trouble over this. These people have no morals or integrity and as a biker who solely uses sunoco for their superior gas I will not be using this one anymore and don't recommend anyone else use it either. Very unprofessional.

Prices are a clear rip-off. Gas for 10 cents cheaper can be found within a mile of the place. Also, I asked one attendant to assist me with putting air in my tires. He told me to visit the tire place next door.

Normally I love these guys. I live in the development just behind here so it's my go to place for gas and what not. About a month ago I went to get gas and after I filled up I drove off and noticed my gas gauge didn't move. I go back to the place and the guys just tell me to "check the receipt." Figuring it was a one time error I let it slide because everyone messes up. This morning(5/2/18), I went to go get gas before my morning commute and again I paid for the gas and they never filled my tank. I don't know if its a problem on their side or if its part of the payment processing but regardless I'm doing a chargeback on my card and avoiding this place at all costs.

The young guy who pumps gas in the morning is very rude. I've never had such horrible customer service from a gas attendee. I drive the extra miles just to go to the other Sunoco.
