Power Gas and Food Mart Introduce
In the quieter, more remote stretches of Pennsylvania, where larger towns and bustling commercial centers give way to scenic countryside, local gas stations become more than just places to refuel. They transform into vital community hubs and essential roadside lifelines. Such is the case with Power Gas and Food Mart in Strausstown, Pennsylvania. Described by some as "the only store in the middle of nowhere," this establishment plays a crucial role for both the residents of this small town and those simply passing through.
Power Gas and Food Mart aims to provide the fundamental services necessary for daily travel and immediate needs in a rural setting. It's a place where you can top off your tank, grab a quick drink or snack, and find a brief respite during your journey. In areas like Strausstown, which might not boast a wide array of retail options, a gas station and food mart often serves as a primary source for convenience items, bridging the gap between more heavily populated areas. While every business strives for perfect customer satisfaction, the core mission of Power Gas and Food Mart is to offer accessibility and convenience to those navigating the roads of rural Pennsylvania, ensuring that essential services are available when and where they are most needed.
Power Gas and Food Mart is strategically located at 150 Main St, Strausstown, PA 19559, USA. This address places it squarely within the heart of Strausstown, a small borough in Berks County, Pennsylvania. For anyone familiar with rural Pennsylvania, "Main Street" often signifies the central thoroughfare, making the station relatively easy to find upon entering the town.
The description "only store in the middle of nowhere" highlights the station's critical importance in its immediate vicinity. Strausstown, by its nature, is not a bustling metropolis, and as such, local services are highly valued. This location makes Power Gas and Food Mart an indispensable stop for drivers who find themselves traveling through this area, perhaps on lesser-known state routes or local roads that connect more prominent towns. It serves as a necessary pit stop for fuel, especially when other options might be many miles away. For residents of Strausstown and the surrounding rural communities, its central position on Main Street means it's a convenient and familiar place for their everyday fueling and quick shopping needs. The accessibility factor is paramount here, as it minimizes detours and provides a readily available service point in a less developed region of Pennsylvania. The ease with which one can "pass thru the little town" and stop here further underscores its practical placement for transient visitors.
Power Gas and Food Mart, like most convenience-oriented gas stations, provides a core set of services aimed at meeting the immediate needs of motorists and local customers. These services are typical for a smaller, independent establishment in a rural Pennsylvania setting.
Fueling Services: The primary service is the dispensing of gasoline. Customers can expect to find various grades of fuel available for their vehicles, allowing for quick fill-ups to continue their journeys.
Convenience Store: An attached food mart or convenience store offers a selection of common items. This typically includes beverages (such as sodas, bottled water, and coffee), a range of packaged snacks (chips, candy bars, etc.), and potentially some basic groceries or grab-and-go food items.
Restrooms: For the comfort of travelers and patrons, restrooms are generally available on-site, providing a necessary amenity, especially during longer drives.
Accepts Credit Cards: As noted in public data, the station accepts credit cards, providing a convenient and widely used payment method for fuel and in-store purchases.
Parking for Customers: Dedicated parking is available for customers, allowing for easy access to the pumps and the convenience store.
Basic Consumer Goods: While not a supermarket, such food marts usually stock a limited array of emergency or forgotten items that a traveler or local resident might suddenly need.
These services, though standard for the industry, are particularly valuable in a rural location like Strausstown, where accessibility to a wide range of retail options is often limited.
Power Gas and Food Mart in Strausstown stands out due to several features that are particularly relevant given its location and role within the community.
Rural Accessibility: Its most significant highlight is its presence in what is described as "the middle of nowhere." For those traveling through or living in remote areas of Pennsylvania, having a readily available gas station is a critical convenience. This makes it a lifeline for motorists who might otherwise face long stretches without access to fuel or basic provisions.
Local Monopole: In small towns like Strausstown, this establishment often acts as the primary, if not sole, retail outlet for immediate needs. This makes it an essential part of the local infrastructure, serving as a hub for quick purchases that residents might otherwise have to travel significant distances for.
Basic Fuel & Food Mart Integration: The combination of a gas station and a food mart means that customers can simultaneously address two fundamental needs: vehicle fueling and personal refreshment/snack acquisition. This dual functionality is a time-saver for busy individuals and travelers alike.
Operational Hours: Public data indicates that Power Gas and Food Mart has consistent operating hours from Monday to Saturday (8:00 - 22:00). While subject to change, consistent hours contribute to reliability for customers planning their stops.
Acceptance of Credit Cards: The ability to pay with credit cards at the pump and inside the store offers a modern convenience, reducing the need for cash and speeding up transactions for most customers.
These features collectively define Power Gas and Food Mart as a practical and necessary stop for those traversing or residing in the Strausstown area of Pennsylvania, fulfilling essential daily requirements.
For independent gas stations and food marts like Power Gas and Food Mart in Strausstown, specific, formalized promotions or loyalty programs common to larger national chains are not typically advertised publicly. The nature of these local establishments often means that any special offers are more informal, transient, or communicated directly at the point of sale.
While there's no publicly available information about a specific rewards program for Power Gas and Food Mart, customers might occasionally find:
In-Store Deals: There could be occasional, unadvertised specials on certain convenience store items, such as a temporary discount on a specific brand of soda or snack, or a bundled deal for a drink and a snack. These are often discretionary offers by the store management.
Competitive Local Fuel Pricing: In rural areas, gas stations often try to offer competitive fuel prices relative to other nearby, albeit potentially distant, stations. While one customer review mentioned issues with non-fuel pricing, the primary draw for fuel remains its core function.
Seasonal Products: Depending on the season, the food mart might stock and offer special pricing on seasonal items, like hot coffee in winter or cold beverages in summer.
It is always recommended for customers to check the signage at the pump and inside the store upon their visit for any current, localized promotions. In the context of a "store in the middle of nowhere," the primary "promotion" is often the sheer convenience and availability of essential services when other options are scarce. For residents and travelers in Pennsylvania, the value proposition of Power Gas and Food Mart primarily lies in its accessibility and the fulfillment of immediate needs.

For the residents of Strausstown, Pennsylvania, and the many individuals who traverse its more remote roadways, Power Gas and Food Mart stands as a uniquely suitable and often indispensable local establishment. Its value is magnified by its location and the essential role it plays in providing fundamental services where other options are scarce.
Firstly, the most compelling reason for its suitability for locals is its very existence in what is described as "the middle of nowhere." In rural Pennsylvania, access to basic services like fuel and convenience items can be geographically limited. Power Gas and Food Mart fills this void, ensuring that residents don't have to undertake significant journeys just to fill their gas tank or pick up a quick snack. This critical accessibility saves time and effort, integrating seamlessly into the daily lives of those living in Strausstown and the surrounding rural areas. For an Uber driver just "passing thru," or a local resident on their daily commute, this station is a welcome sight and a necessary stop.
Secondly, while customer experiences regarding service quality can fluctuate, as indicated by some feedback, the core utility of Power Gas and Food Mart remains undiminished. It provides the crucial ability to refuel vehicles, a non-negotiable requirement for mobility in a region heavily reliant on personal transportation. The presence of a convenience store, even with a limited inventory, means that immediate needs for refreshments or quick provisions can be met on the spot. In a small town, such a store often acts as a focal point for quick transactions, serving needs that might otherwise go unaddressed until reaching a larger commercial center.
In conclusion, Power Gas and Food Mart, despite any individual service concerns, serves a vital function in Strausstown. Its role as a readily available source of fuel and basic convenience items in a rural setting makes it highly suitable for locals. It provides essential support for daily routines and travel, underscoring its importance as a community asset in this quiet corner of Pennsylvania. For anyone in Strausstown, it’s not just a gas station; it's a foundational piece of local infrastructure that helps keep daily life moving smoothly.

The woman working the counter was absolutely rude, pretentious, and shouldn't be interacting with people. We had an issue with the pump and our CC. Our cc was accepted, but the pump wouldn't pump gas and it wouldn't close out our cc transaction. She told us we could leave and the open pump didn't matter, but i wasn't going to leave until the transaction was closed. She claimed she couldn't reset the pump even after offering to turn them off! She yelled, screamed, ripped the pump out of my wife's hand, and then told her to "go back to the mountains", whatever that even means, though I assume it was supposed to be an insult. She said she'd call the cops on us, which we welcomed wholeheartedly. She didn't, of course. But if cameras caught her antics she should have been fired on the spot. This place is shady, always has been. Their pumps often don't work and their pos isn't something I've ever trusted, when it even works. Do not go here and do not support such lousy ownership. We live very close, but will never visit this place again.

The cashier at this US Gas location is the sweetest thing ever! She is so kind, friendly, welcoming, hospitable, and helpful. If we walk through the door and she is there, the vibe is just cozy. She knows how to make it feel just like coming home for Christmas. Love this spot...they always have everything we need and are open late for those kinda situations. Oh yeah...how could I forget??? The gas here is the cheapest in the area...by at least 15 cents. If you are over by Straussstown near 78 and 183... make it a point to go fill up!

The lady who works at this place has no customer service etiquette. She made a mistake and put my hard earned money into the wrong gas pump then would not let me pump any gas because I questioned her about my money. She wanted me to pay the gas I had already paid for but because of her own mistake I was not going to pay for the gas 2x she didn’t refund my money until she saw other customers were coming in to the store. Needs better employees with customer service etiquette.
