Walmart Auto Care Centers Introduce

Walmart Auto Care Centers, specifically the location at 1693 Stringtown Rd, Grove City, OH 43123, USA, operates as an accessible and often affordable option within the "Auto Repair Stations" platform category. Functioning as a component of the larger Walmart retail store, these centers are designed to provide basic automotive maintenance and light repair services, along with the sale of common auto parts and accessories. For local users in Grove City, it offers the convenience of combining car service with everyday shopping, making it a distinctive choice in the automotive repair landscape. They can be reached via phone at (614) 539-8545 or mobile at +1 614-539-8545.

The environment of a Walmart Auto Care Center is generally designed for functionality and efficiency, often integrated into the retail giant's sprawling parking lot. Customers typically pull their vehicles into designated service bays, and there's usually a small waiting area or a counter for check-in and pick-up. The primary environment for customers is the broader Walmart store itself, allowing them to shop while their vehicle is being serviced. The actual service bays are practical, equipped with lifts, tire mounting and balancing machines, and basic tools for common automotive tasks. While not a luxury environment, it aims to be clean and organized to facilitate quick turnaround times for high-volume services. The convenience of being able to shop for groceries or other goods while waiting is a significant aspect of its operational environment.

As an "Auto Repair Station," Walmart Auto Care Centers offer a range of services and goods for sale, primarily focused on routine maintenance and common replacements. Based on the provided customer reviews, their key services include:

  • Tire Services: This is a prominent offering, encompassing new tire installation, tire rotation, balancing, and potentially flat tire repair. One review explicitly mentions getting "new tires put on these new rims." They also sell a variety of tire brands and sizes.
  • Oil Changes: Another core service, designed for quick and affordable routine maintenance. A customer mentioned driving from Ashville, OH, specifically for an "oil change I could afford."
  • Fluid Checks and Top-offs: As part of routine service, they likely check and top off essential vehicle fluids.
  • Battery Testing and Replacement: Offering battery sales and installation.
  • Wiper Blade Replacement: A common quick service.
In addition to services, they also sell a range of auto parts and accessories on their shelves, including motor oil, antifreeze, car care products, air fresheners, and minor replacement parts. It's important to note that Walmart Auto Care Centers typically focus on these basic, high-volume services and generally do not perform complex mechanical repairs, engine diagnostics, or extensive bodywork. Their model is built on affordability and quick service for everyday vehicle needs.

The features of Walmart Auto Care Centers are often characterized by their affordability, convenience, and varying levels of service quality, as highlighted by the contrasting customer reviews. Key features include:

  • Affordability: Customers often choose Walmart for its competitive pricing on services like oil changes and tires, making it an accessible option for budget-conscious drivers.
  • Convenience: The ability to drop off a car for service while shopping inside the main Walmart store is a major draw, saving time for busy individuals.
  • Standardized Procedures: As a large chain, they typically adhere to standardized service procedures, aiming for consistency.
  • Communicative Staff (Varies): One positive review highlights "Misty, was communicative and let me know what was going on every step of the way," and notes that staff "let me know what needed to be swapped before actually doing it." This suggests good communication practices when present.
  • Quality Control (Varies): The positive review appreciates the "standard they need to abide by compared to a cheap corner tire shop that doesn’t really care." This indicates that, at its best, the center can provide reliable service.
However, the negative review from 4-11-2025 (which appears to be a typo for 4-11-2024, given the current date) points to significant inconsistencies in service quality and professionalism. This customer's experience highlights potential issues such as:
  • Incompetent Mechanics: Concerns about a "new mechanic" being "incompetent, doesn’t read and is dangerous to the health of my car."
  • Lack of Attention to Instructions: Despite telling them "not to do the tires," the tires were tampered with, resulting in imbalance and incorrect pressure.
  • Unexplained Issues: A "car horn went crazy sounding" and feeling "mysteriousism of what truly happened."
  • Questionable Workmanship: Allegations of "wrong oil" being put in and poor overall "workmanship."
  • Long Wait Times: A nearly 2-hour wait for an oil change, despite not being called when ready.
These conflicting reviews indicate that while the potential for good service and convenience exists, the actual customer experience can be highly dependent on the specific technician or staff member encountered. The phone numbers, (614) 539-8545 and +1 614-539-8545, provide direct contact, but issues with resolution might require in-person follow-up.

Regarding promotional information, Walmart Auto Care Centers frequently leverage their retail presence to promote services. While specific current promotions are not provided here, typical offerings include:

  • Rollback Pricing: General price reductions on popular services like oil changes or tire installations.
  • Bundle Deals: Discounts when purchasing tires and installation together, or an oil change combined with other basic checks.
  • Seasonal Specials: Promotions tied to changing seasons, such as tire deals for winter or summer, or battery checks.
  • Coupons: Often found in local flyers, circulars, or on the Walmart website/app.
  • Everyday Low Prices: Their consistent marketing emphasizes competitive pricing as a fundamental part of their value proposition.
For local users in Grove City, OH, looking for affordable and convenient basic automotive services, it is recommended to check the Walmart website, the Walmart app, or inquire directly at the Auto Care Center for the most current promotions. While the convenience and affordability are often compelling, customers should be prepared for potential variations in service quality and consider allocating ample time for their visit, as suggested by one reviewer.

In conclusion, Walmart Auto Care Centers at 1693 Stringtown Rd, Grove City, OH, serves as an "Auto Repair Station" offering essential car maintenance services like tire installation and oil changes, coupled with the convenience of its retail store location. The environment is practical and efficient, designed for high-volume service. Features include competitive pricing and the convenience of combining errands, with some instances of excellent customer communication. However, customer experiences can be inconsistent, with reports of both highly satisfying and deeply problematic service, particularly concerning technician competence and attention to detail. For those prioritizing affordability and integrated shopping convenience for basic automotive needs, it remains a viable option, but prospective customers should be aware of the varied service experiences and consider direct communication and careful monitoring of their vehicle during service.

Walmart Auto Care Centers Customer Reviews

Made an appointment on a Sunday to get some new tires put on these new rims I got. It took a little over 2 hours or so, but that was due to some sizing issues and miscommunication. But the team lead, Misty, was communicative and let me know what was going on every step of the way. They let me know what needed to be swapped before actually doing it and listed out the prices for what was added on. They took great care of my car and gave me a good experience. I would recommend this place for tire services mainly because of the standard they need to abide by compared to a cheap corner tire shop that doesn’t really care all that much what happens except for being paid, trust me I know. Overall good service and I’d recommend stopping by with a good amount of time available in your day.

4-11-2025 I drove from Ashville Oh for an oil change I could afford. I drive a 2014 Toyota Prius V. I’ve gotten it done previous with no problem. This time left me questioning its professionalism, mysteriousism of what truly happened. I told the auto garage clerk that wrote up the order to tell them not to do the tires, I’d just gotten my newer tires balance and rotated the night before which produced a smooth ride home. This job took nearly 2 hrs while I roamed around the store. I never got a ready call but got a call that the order was canceled because the filter was too tight & Id have to take it somewhere to have it loosened because they could strip it out. I gave them permission to let someone else loosen it so they did & the job got done. Problem, I can tell when the wrong oil is put in like the blend. It runs tighter. I think that happened, I noticed 1 of tires is imbalanced. When I got back waiting for it to be complete the car horn went crazy sounding. Why? The job was $58. Some how I have a strong feeling this new mechanic is incompetent, doesn’t read and is dangerous to the health of my car. I notice on the ride home a tire is now imbalanced and my cars riding hard. Checked the tires & yep he messed with the tires without using a gage or else tires that are a a bd we’re 33lbs back-34lbs front wouldn’t be 42lb all around except 1-27lbs causing my car to me my tires low signal. Thanks a lot Walmart for poor workmanship I can’t trust. I’d asked for the previous mechanic that did a great job but he wasn’t there. I wish I would have waited. This guy needs fired!!! :( So since my engine isn’t running as quiet and smoothly I’ll have to spend $80 at Toyota to get it done right. Just didn’t feel comfortable on the Highway & wanted to get it done locally.

The current lead over the automotive is clueless. Feb 2025. Made an appointment for an oil change my car sat for an hour with absolutely no one in the shop. I asked what was going on?. The lead says my people are on break. It's 8am didn't they just start working? Worthless service!! I took my car and left

This was an overall terrible experience. I went into the location to ask to schedule an appointment because I had some shaking in the wheels and needed new tires. The woman at the desk told me that they didn’t schedule appointments to have the car looked at- they only scheduled for batteries or tires. I say- ok cool, cause I need new tires too. She asks me for my tire size (seemed pretty annoyed that I had it). Slams some buttons on her computer, swings it around and says- we don’t have any. I ask her if they could order some. She says- no, we don’t do that. You have to order them online. So I leave. Now I’ve felt with this location before and haven’t had any issues, so I figure I’ll go online, order the tires, bd hopefully someone new will be there next time. Nope. My appointment comes around- same lady. Still annoyed to help me (for some reason). She checks me in -grudgingly. I go do some shopping and when I come back (30 mins later) the car is still sitting in the same spot I left it. Generally I wouldn’t think anything of it, but she told me that she had already turned away her first appointment of the day for another reason. Within mins of sitting down, my car was taken back. 5 mins after that, they are out telling me that there is a suspension issue that they can’t fix (which is literally what I asked about when I first walked in the store for the appointment). I ask for a refund - which is another thing that annoys the woman at the desk. She tells me she has to refund them individually, so I wait. She gives me my receipts and I go. I call customer service to check the status of the refund (because again they told me I had to order these tires and prepay) and they tell me that they can’t do anything because I took ownership of the tires. They say I need to go back to the store and they will process the refund. Well I can’t go back to the store because I have no car because I had to take it to Firestone (who were super nice) to get the work done. I call to ask about it. Same lady. She tells me that because of the type of tires I bought I would either need to bring them to the store (they never left the store) or mail them back to the original location. She says I gave you the slip from the return. I tried to explain that I understood what she was saying but customer service seemed to think that I had the tires. She huffed and got her supervisor who then over talked me and refused to listen to my questions. I get a leaders job is to support their team, but at least listen before you decide that I am just some rude customer who is making trouble. Anyway, this book is over. Terrible service from everyone (except for the tire tech). I hope your experience is better.
