Trac-Rite Introduce

Welcome to Trac-Rite, an Auto Repair Station situated at 989 Main Street in Surgoinsville, Tennessee (TN 37873). As a local provider within the Auto Repair Stations category, Trac-Rite aims to offer automotive services to the community. However, the limited online customer reviews available present concerning experiences regarding their diagnostic accuracy and the effectiveness of their repairs. This introduction will objectively analyze these reviews to provide potential local users with a balanced perspective on what to expect from Trac-Rite.

Information regarding the specific environment of Trac-Rite is not available online. Typically, an Auto Repair Station would include a workshop equipped with tools, diagnostic equipment, and service bays to accommodate vehicles undergoing repair. There would likely be a customer reception area for interactions with staff and for waiting while vehicles are being serviced. However, without any positive descriptions of Trac-Rite's facility, and with the negative reviews focusing on service outcomes, we cannot infer anything specific about their environment beyond the basic functional requirements of an auto repair shop.

Based on the negative customer reviews, we can infer some of the services that Trac-Rite offers, although the outcomes reported are problematic:

  • Knock sensor replacement: One customer explicitly mentioned having a knock sensor replaced, indicating this is a service they provide. However, the issue the customer was experiencing (shuddering) was reportedly not resolved, and a different, allegedly incorrect, diagnosis (distributor) was given afterward.
  • Engine diagnostics: Another customer took their Mustang in for an engine check and was told it needed a new motor. This suggests that Trac-Rite offers engine diagnostic services. However, the review claims this diagnosis was severely inaccurate, with the actual problem being a simple spark plug issue.
  • Distributor replacement (potentially): The first reviewer mentioned having recently had a distributor replaced elsewhere, but Trac-Rite's mechanic suggested it was the cause of the ongoing issue. This implies they are also capable of diagnosing and potentially replacing distributors.

The limited information makes it difficult to ascertain the full range of services offered by Trac-Rite. It is possible they provide other common auto repair services such as oil changes, brake repairs, tire services, etc., but these are not mentioned in the available reviews. Potential customers should contact Trac-Rite directly to inquire about their complete service offerings.

The features of Trac-Rite, as perceived through the lens of the two available negative customer reviews, raise significant concerns about their diagnostic accuracy and service quality. Key issues highlighted include:

  • Inaccurate diagnosis: Both reviews point to instances of misdiagnosis. One customer was charged for a knock sensor replacement that did not fix the problem, followed by a potentially incorrect diagnosis of the distributor. The other customer was told they needed a new motor when the issue was as simple as a spark plug not being gapped correctly.
  • Wasted expense: The first reviewer felt they were unfairly charged $150 for a repair that did not solve the problem.
  • Potential for unnecessary repairs: The second reviewer felt the mechanic was unwilling to "mess with" a simpler fix, leading to a drastically incorrect and expensive diagnosis.
  • Lack of resolution: In the case of the knock sensor replacement, the original issue remained unresolved after the service.

These reviews do not highlight any positive features of Trac-Rite. Instead, they serve as cautionary tales for potential customers, emphasizing the importance of accurate diagnostics in auto repair and the potential financial and practical consequences of misdiagnosis.

Currently, there is no information available regarding any promotional offers from Trac-Rite. Given the negative feedback concerning their service outcomes, it is unlikely that they are actively promoting their services online through the channels where these reviews were posted. Potential customers would need to contact them directly to inquire about pricing or any potential discounts, but should do so with caution, considering the experiences of previous customers.

In conclusion, Trac-Rite in Surgoinsville, TN, is listed as an Auto Repair Station. However, the limited online customer feedback presents serious concerns regarding their diagnostic capabilities and the effectiveness of their repairs. Both available reviews describe instances of significant misdiagnosis, leading to wasted expenses and unresolved vehicle issues. Potential local users should approach Trac-Rite with caution and consider seeking second opinions or exploring other auto repair options in the area. The lack of positive feedback and the specific negative experiences shared do not provide a favorable impression of their services. It is recommended that individuals consider these experiences carefully before entrusting their vehicle repairs to Trac-Rite.

They just took my last $150 to replace the knock sensor. When I get up there to pick my truck up, dude says to me was the reason I was replacing that knock sensor because of the shuttering and I said yes and he said oh well that didn't fix it it's the distributor. No it's not the distributor, I just had a distributor put on it. So thanks for taking the last $150 you crooks.

Knowledgeable mechanic, fair and reasonable cost for labor. We bring our vehicles from as far away as Knoxville because we trust Johnson’s Auto Repair (formerly Trac-Rite and same family owned).

Great business and a friendly group of people. Had a clutch go out completely in a 2016 Kia Soul, and just a month or so later the clutch started to wear out in my 2010 challenger. Both clutches were replaced flawlessly and within 4 days, it’s been about a month (going on two) that the Kia has been fixed and we haven’t had a mess up in yet. We had to call them a few times ahead with the 2010 challenger to arrange dates and times, and they were very patience and quick responding each time. We picked up the challenger this morning and the difference in the new and old clutch is definitely noticeable; we’re very pleased with the work done on both cars and are happy to support them. 10/10 on everything.
