Tom's Automotive Introduce

Tom's Automotive operates as an Auto Repair Station located at 2007 Woodville Rd, Oregon, OH 43616, USA. They can be reached via phone at (419) 691-4001 or mobile at +1 419-691-4001. As an Auto Repair Station, Tom's Automotive is equipped to provide various services and goods for sale related to vehicle maintenance and repair. Serving the local community in Oregon, Ohio, this establishment aims to address a range of automotive issues for its clientele.

Environment and Accessibility

The location of Tom's Automotive on Woodville Rd suggests an accessible setting within Oregon, OH, typical for an auto repair shop. The environment of such a facility would generally include service bays with lifts, diagnostic equipment, and tools necessary for performing various automotive repairs. While specific details about the interior aesthetic or customer waiting area are not provided, the operational focus is on the repair and servicing of vehicles. Given that some customer experiences involve towing and repeated visits, the physical layout likely accommodates vehicle drop-off and pickup, and potentially a customer service counter. The efficiency of the environment is crucial for managing vehicle throughput, and positive experiences highlight a streamlined process for specific repairs, including quick turnaround times and customer transportation services. However, challenging experiences suggest that at times, the diagnostic process or the availability of parts may impact the overall efficiency and duration a vehicle spends at the shop.

Services Offered

Tom's Automotive provides general **automotive repair services**. Based on the provided customer reviews, their services include **fuel pump installation and diagnostics** as well as **suspension system repairs**. The first review details a complex issue involving a non-starting Chevy Malibu, which they attempted to resolve through fuel pump installation and subsequent troubleshooting. This indicates their capability to handle intricate electrical and fuel system problems. The second review highlights their expertise in **suspension work**, specifically tightening bolts on struts and performing replacement of suspension parts. This suggests they are equipped to diagnose and repair issues related to a vehicle's handling, ride quality, and structural integrity. As an "Auto Repair Station," they are expected to offer a wide array of other common repair services such as brake work, oil changes, tune-ups, and general diagnostics, along with providing the necessary parts for these repairs. Their ability to manage multifaceted problems and offer solutions for both mechanical and potentially electrical vehicle components underscores their role as a comprehensive auto repair provider.

Features and Divergent Customer Experiences

The customer reviews for Tom's Automotive present a stark contrast, revealing highly **divergent customer experiences**. One review describes an incredibly positive experience, highlighting features such as **exceptional honesty, remarkable affordability, and outstanding speed of service**. In this instance, Tom's Automotive correctly identified and fixed a noise issue from improperly tightened strut bolts without charge, building immense trust. Later, for a significant suspension repair, they provided an incredibly low price ("a buck twenty" for labor) and completed the job with astonishing speed ("done" in about 2.5 hours), even offering customer transport. This customer praises their integrity ("refused" more money) and scarcity of such service providers ("Just don't find people like them anymore!"). This feedback portrays Tom's Automotive as a highly trustworthy, skilled, and customer-centric shop. Conversely, the other review depicts a deeply negative experience. Features highlighted here include **repeated misdiagnoses, prolonged repair times, and ultimately unresolved issues** regarding a fuel pump problem. The customer details multiple return visits for the same issue, extended waiting periods for parts and repairs, and eventually, the vehicle dying permanently. The most alarming feature is the alleged **dishonest customer service and unprofessional conduct**, including being "called a basturd" and given unhelpful, unprofessional advice like "hit the fuel pump with a 2 by 4." This review directly contradicts the positive one, suggesting a severe breakdown in communication, diagnostic accuracy, and customer respect in specific instances. This dichotomy of experiences makes it challenging to provide a singular, consistent feature set for Tom's Automotive, as customer interactions and outcomes appear highly variable.

Promotional Information and Market Perception

The promotional information for Tom's Automotive, derived from public feedback, is highly polarized. On one hand, the overwhelmingly positive review serves as a powerful testament to their potential to offer **exceptional value, swift service, and genuine honesty at incredibly low prices**. This customer's enthusiastic endorsement and willingness to give them all future work and refer others is the strongest possible form of promotion. It suggests that when things go well, Tom's Automotive delivers an unparalleled customer experience, making them a "best" choice in the market for specific types of repairs and customer interactions. On the other hand, the severely negative review presents a significant challenge to any promotional efforts. The accusations of "dishonest work," repeated failures to fix a problem, extended delays, and unprofessional behavior (including verbal abuse) would severely undermine customer trust. This type of feedback, if widespread or common, would deter potential customers despite any positive testimonials. Therefore, the market perception of Tom's Automotive is likely mixed. While they can clearly provide outstanding service and value in some scenarios, as evidenced by the positive review, the documented issues regarding diagnostic accuracy, repair effectiveness, and customer relations in other instances are serious concerns. Any promotional strategy would need to carefully navigate this dichotomy, perhaps by focusing on the positive aspects of their capability and affordability, while simultaneously addressing and improving upon the areas highlighted by negative feedback to build a more consistent and universally positive reputation in the Oregon, OH auto repair market.

Tom's Automotive Customer Reviews

Around July of 2023 to took my chevy malibu to Tom's. No fuel pressure was the issue. Paid a little under 700 for a fuel pump installation. The next day it was returned to me I didn't start, apon towing it (at toms cost) they said nothing was wrong, come pick it up. My car then worked for a week and then died mid drive. Another tow back to Tom's later and after waiting a week they said it was a faulty fuel pump and they would order one, another week of it in the shop to wait for the part. A month after having the keys put in my hand a 3rd time it dies again. A mechanic from Tom's came to look at it and said "if it does this just hit the fuel pump with a 2 by 4" and then left. It now will not start at all, hitting it has stopped working all together. Now instead of making things right, I was called a basturd, told they fixed it and ill have to pay the tow, and that if I don't like it to go elsewhere. If you want a repair you have to strike to get to work then go to Tom's. Dishonest work. If you can't fix something after 3 ties you should not be in the business

These guys are the best! Took my car there some time ago! I had some noises up front! Tireman, just put all new suspension parts up front! The guy at Tom's test drove it, came back, tightened the bolts on the struts, that tireman, just installed! Noises gone! They never charged me! I told Tom, If I ever needed anything done I'd give them the work! Fast forward. New parts only have 20000 miles on them and they're shot. So, I call around and couldn't believe the prices! Belle tire wanted 988.00, that's with parts and alighnment! Tireman, which I'll never go to again, wanted 150.00 per side plus parts and alighnment! So,I bought the parts and was going to do it myself, then I remembered Tom's! At this point I just want it done so, I decided if he could do It I'd give him the job! They got me in, after taking me home, I'd say about 9:30! 11:45 they call, it's done! 😳So, They came and picked me up and took me back to the shop! At this point I'm willing to pay whatever! I go in and ask Tom, how much, he said, a buck twenty! I told him,he must have made a mistake, that's to cheap! I was so happy,a tried to give him more money and he refused! Just don't find people like them anymore!

Terrible service. Had an issue getting my car to start. Was stalled in this area and wanted to use a local shop. After leaving the car, and a couple hours later not hearing from them, I called to check the status as to not keep them waiting on me. I was told it was the battery it’ll be ready in 20 min and I owe him $240. When I arrived to pick up my vehicle mechanic told me they can’t seem to find the problem and the owner told me he doesn’t have a crystal ball so he can’t tell me what’s wrong. I asked if they would need to keep my vehicle over night he said, without explanation, “Just plan on it.” After not hearing from anyone at all I decided to call around 10am (the following day) to be told they think it’s because my key was broken and it may have a sensor that doesn’t allow the car to start. But he doesn’t know that for sure because somebody in the shop only saw that on the internet. When I came with a new key the car started right up. I asked what can do I owe him for his time he proceeded to tell me, “Hell yeah you owe me something we spent 3 or 4 hours trying to figure that out. I want $130 bucks.” $130 because it took him nearly four hours of changing parts out only to watch a you tube clip that told him it was just a broken key fab. I have no problem paying for a persons time, but the fact that he didn’t use any parts or provide me with any information or ask what I wanted to do since he was at a loss trying to solve the problem, makes me a bit skeptical of the price. I would have taken it somewhere else, to someone who had a better understanding of my vehicle type and could get a solution at a faster rate and cheaper price. I asked if I could just buy the over priced battery he was going to install since he wanted so much money I might as well get a something out of it. He wasn’t having it. What a joke. I tried to take my vehicle to a local shop and got treated with nothing but disrespect for their shortcomings. Just incredibly rude through out the entire process, I only asked to be informed so I could take it else where if needed. Never contacted me once and acted as if I was a nuisance for calling to check the status and see if I needed a different mechanic or take it directly to dealer. What a rip off. Terribly rude service. Highly recommend never going there. Ever.

My experience with Toms Automotive was top notch. I would highly recommend this buisness for all mechanical work. I thought I needed a water pump but service needed was for a timimg cover gasket, timing chain, an also since older vehicle with high miles I decided to replace the water pump. Also a belt tensioner was needed. The wires on my radio had shorted out an fried so Brian the Mechanic who is owners son, found a used one an replaced that for me. Also there was an annoying squeak in motor an serveral times had other mechanics try to fix with no luck but Brian fixed. I will continue to take all my vehicle problems to Toms I believe they are a trust worthy buisness they are fair an honest. If you have an issue with your vehicle go see Brian at Toms Automotive .

Best place in town for HONEST & DEPENDABLE auto work. I've had everything from tires mounted to oil change to brake work and timing belt changed. They do it all! Tom's Automotive on Woodville Road is NOT to be confused with "Tom's Auto Repair" on Lagrange, whom I will NEVER take any vehicle to.
