The Body Shop 110 LLC Introduce

The Body Shop 110 LLC, located at 803 River Rd, Shelton, CT 06484, functions as an "Auto Repair Station" that primarily focuses on auto body and collision repair services. However, based on customer feedback, their scope and consistency in handling broader mechanical issues post-collision appear to be a point of contention.

Environment and Customer Experience

The environment at The Body Shop 110 LLC presents a mixed picture, reflecting highly contrasting customer experiences. On one hand, there are elements that foster a positive initial impression. A customer mentions "the sweet dog and the nice receptionist," indicating a welcoming front-end experience. Another reviewer praises the owner, Bill, for being "super nice" and spending "a fair amount of his time securing the splashguard for me and wouldn't take payment," highlighting a helpful and generous spirit for minor issues. These interactions suggest a friendly and approachable atmosphere where customers might initially feel valued.

On the other hand, a significantly negative review details a deeply dissatisfying experience, particularly concerning the shop's ability to handle complex mechanical issues stemming from an accident. The customer claims they were assured the shop could handle mechanical work, only to receive their car back with multiple unresolved problems like "jerking" and "error codes." The owner's alleged dismissive response—suggesting "wd40 on the door" and requiring external proof of accident-related issues—points to a profound lack of accountability and professionalism in certain situations. This stark contrast in experiences suggests inconsistencies in service quality and customer dispute resolution, indicating that the overall customer experience can be highly variable and potentially frustrating for those with complex mechanical repair needs.

Services Offered

As an "Auto Repair Station" with "The Body Shop" in its name, the primary services offered by The Body Shop 110 LLC are undoubtedly focused on collision repair and auto body work. This would typically include:

  • Collision Repair: Repairing damage resulting from vehicle accidents, which involves restoring the car's structural integrity, chassis, and exterior panels.
  • Dent and Ding Repair: Fixing various levels of cosmetic damage to the vehicle's body.
  • Paint Services: Repainting damaged areas to match the original factory finish.
  • Frame Straightening: Utilizing specialized equipment to restore a vehicle's frame to its pre-accident specifications.

However, the reviews suggest that The Body Shop 110 LLC also claims to handle, or is asked to handle, some mechanical work, especially when it arises directly from accident damage. The negative review explicitly mentions the customer asking if the place "can handle mechanical work because of the nature of the accident" (specifically, a ripped-out front wheel from the gearbox, implying powertrain issues). This suggests that they might advertise or imply capabilities beyond pure bodywork. The positive review mentions a splashguard detachment, which is a minor, often mechanical, repair that they handled promptly and courteously without charge. This indicates a willingness to assist with smaller, non-collision-related issues as well.

Given the nature of collision repair, they would also typically work with insurance companies to facilitate claims, manage estimates, and ensure proper documentation for repairs. They would also likely offer towing assistance or recommendations for vehicles involved in accidents.

Features and Expertise

The features and perceived expertise of The Body Shop 110 LLC are viewed differently depending on the complexity of the repair and the customer's experience:

  • Proficiency in Minor Repairs/Goodwill Gestures: The ability to quickly and graciously assist with minor issues like a detached splashguard, even without payment, highlights a positive aspect of their customer service and willingness to help.
  • Initial Customer Engagement: The presence of a "nice receptionist" and a friendly dog suggests a pleasant initial interaction and a welcoming atmosphere.
  • Questionable Mechanical Expertise (for Complex Issues): A significant concern raised is their perceived lack of capability or unwillingness to properly address complex mechanical issues, particularly those that are a direct result of an accident (e.g., powertrain problems after a wheel is ripped out). The customer's report of "a bunch of stuff still wrong" and subsequent error codes, despite assurances, points to a potential gap in their mechanical diagnostic and repair capabilities or their commitment to comprehensive post-accident restoration.
  • Disappointing Customer Resolution: The alleged dismissive response from the owner ("put wd40 on the door," "prove it was part of the accident") is a major negative feature, indicating a failure to take responsibility for incomplete or faulty work and a poor approach to customer dispute resolution. This seriously undermines trust.
  • Fair Pricing (for Bodywork): The positive reviewer's speculation that "the price very fair" for bodywork, despite not having had it done, suggests a general perception of reasonable pricing for their core services.

Promotional Information

Based on the provided information, explicit promotional efforts for The Body Shop 110 LLC are not detailed, but implicit elements can be inferred:

  • Word-of-Mouth: Positive experiences, such as the helpfulness with the splashguard, can generate positive word-of-mouth. Conversely, the severely negative experience demonstrates how quickly negative word-of-mouth can spread, impacting reputation.
  • Initial Friendly Impression: The "nice receptionist" and "sweet dog" contribute to a friendly first impression, which can be a subtle form of promotion, making customers feel comfortable initially.
  • Online Presence: Having a phone number and address listed on platforms (like Google Maps or business directories) ensures visibility when local users search for "Auto Repair Stations" or "body shops" in Shelton.
  • Insurance Network: As a body shop, they likely work with various insurance companies, which can serve as a referral source for customers involved in accidents.

The highly divergent customer reviews indicate that while The Body Shop 110 LLC may excel in certain aspects, particularly initial friendly service and minor bodywork goodwill gestures, their reputation for comprehensive mechanical repair and transparent problem resolution for larger, post-accident issues is significantly challenged. This inconsistency suggests that their most potent form of promotion—positive customer experiences and referrals—is severely undermined by reported failures in handling more complex repairs and resolving customer complaints effectively.

The Body Shop 110 LLC Customer Reviews

The only good thing about this place is the sweet dog and the nice receptionist. Took my car here after an accident. My entire front wheel was ripped out of the gearbox so I knew there had to be something wrong with the powertrain…. I had asked if this place can handle mechanical work because of the nature of the accident. They tell me yes and then when I get the bar back there’s a bunch of stuff still wrong. The car jerks like it can’t deliver power to the wheels right, some error codes on the dash as well…. I bring it back to the owner to tell them what’s still wrong and he tells me to put wd40 on the door and he says i need to take it somewhere else to prove it was part of the accident. What kind of operation is this that takes people’s money for a job and then gives you back a car that doesn’t work?! This place is a scam

I was driving over the Sikorsky Bridge when my undercarriage splashguard detached and started dragging. Long story short, I ended up here - everyone was super nice, the owner Bill spent a fair amount of his time securing the splashguard for me and wouldn't take payment. I didn't have body work done by them but I'm betting the work is great and the price very fair. And their English Mastiff Mongo is worth a trip. Thanks!

Very pleased with the work , also didn’t take long about a week & a half to fix my fender panel. Greatly appreciate the service they did on my mazda cx-3. Would recommend to anyone who needs body work done. “Thank You!”

A close friend had their vehicle dropped off after a minor accident. After about a month of the shop having it he got it back with very poor work done to it. Paint was blotchy, scratches from the accident, mismatched suspension components. It was dropped off back at the shop the next day to correct those issues. A week and a half later the only thing that was fixed was it now had a matching shock absorber. They charged the insurance for paint work that was not done. They also charged to replace the axel housing which wasn’t done. And then charged the insurance a second time when it went back to correct their mistakes which they didn’t even correct. At the end of the day I wouldn’t recommend them to anyone because of this experience.

I recently had my car towed by Shelton police in which The Shop 110 were the guy called to pick the car up. The tow truck driver did not properly secure his load to the bed. So I made sure to follow him to the shop. Minutes away fro mother shop on surf Ave, as he picked up speed my European Spec VW bumper flew off the bed sliding at max 100 feet. When brought to Williams attention , he began to curse me out stating “ he does not give a **** about what his driver did or didn’t do. As well he then would not pay for damages nor try to rectify the situation. Even going as far as to try and ask what I’m using the bumper for in collateral to justify why he shouldn’t have to repaint/ buff out the damages his company did. The first photo is what it look like before hand the ones after are in his back lot when picking the car up. I can’t speak on his actual work as a body guy, however I can speak on his character and how he handle business and his mistakes, he is not diligent and honest in his approach.
