Southern Exhaust & Auto Repair Introduce
For the residents of Hampton, Tennessee, and those in neighboring areas like Marion, North Carolina, Southern Exhaust & Auto Repair, situated at 1051 US-321, presents itself as a local option within the "Auto Repair Stations" category for various automotive needs. The limited information available through online customer reviews offers a somewhat contrasting perspective on the services and overall experience provided by this establishment.
On the positive side, one customer who traveled from Marion, NC, based on recommendations from family, reported that the service received "exceeded my expectations." This suggests that Southern Exhaust & Auto Repair has garnered a positive reputation with some individuals, possibly for specific types of work or customer interactions. This positive experience led to a strong recommendation and the customer's intention to return for future repairs, indicating a high degree of satisfaction in at least one instance.
Another customer shared a positive experience regarding a specific repair job on a 2006 Ford F-150. They took their vehicle in for a leaking slave cylinder and opted to have a full clutch kit installed simultaneously. This customer praised the work as "outstanding," noting that it was done "professionally and efficiently." They expressed complete satisfaction with the results, highlighting the competence of the mechanics in handling this type of repair work. This review suggests that Southern Exhaust & Auto Repair possesses the skills and expertise to perform certain mechanical repairs to a high standard.
However, a more detailed and critical review paints a significantly different picture of the customer experience. This customer brought their truck in for repairs during the week of Thanksgiving and reported a series of issues, primarily centered around communication, timelines, and the quality of the final repair. The customer stated being given three different completion dates, none of which were met, and having to initiate contact each time to get an update. The explanations provided for the delays included wrong parts being ordered and further unspecified delays.
Upon finally being told the truck was ready, the customer found that it was "running worse than it was when I dropped it off" and would not even stay running. They were then informed that the carburetor was the problem, despite the initial intention of having whatever was necessary fixed to make the truck a reliable daily driver. Following further work and an additional charge, the customer experienced an oil line to the gauge popping off shortly after driving the truck home, resulting in a significant oil leak. This was allegedly attributed to the mechanics replacing spark plugs and cutting zip ties that were securing wires, without replacing them, leading to wires melting on the headers.
The same negative review also recounts an incident where a worker allegedly tried to demonstrate that the truck would run (after diagnosing a bad carburetor) by holding the engine at wide open throttle multiple times, which the customer felt could have caused engine damage. The reviewer concludes with a strong "10/10 do not recommend" rating, citing bad communication, poor workmanship, and careless actions. They also mentioned that their subsequent phone calls to the shop were not being answered, further exacerbating their dissatisfaction.
Given these starkly contrasting accounts, it is difficult to definitively describe the environment of Southern Exhaust & Auto Repair. The positive reviews suggest a capable repair shop with potentially friendly service. However, the negative review implies a lack of organization, poor communication, and potentially a disregard for proper repair procedures and vehicle care. The physical environment could range from a standard, functional auto repair shop to one that may lack attention to detail or systematic processes, depending on which customer's experience is more representative.
The services offered likely include exhaust system repairs (implied by the name), general auto repair (as indicated by the clutch and carburetor work), and potentially other mechanical services. The shop appears to handle both routine repairs and more complex issues. However, the quality and reliability of these services seem to be a point of contention based on the divergent customer experiences.
Features of Southern Exhaust & Auto Repair that can be inferred include their ability to perform clutch replacements and diagnose carburetor issues. However, the inconsistent quality of work and the significant communication problems highlighted in one review are major points of concern. The positive reviews suggest potential strengths in certain types of repairs and customer interactions, but these are overshadowed by the serious issues raised in the negative feedback.
Promotional information is not available in the provided text. Local users interested in Southern Exhaust & Auto Repair would need to contact them directly at (423) 725-2158 or their mobile number +1 423-725-2158 to inquire about any current specials, pricing, or specific services they may need. Given the conflicting reviews, it would also be prudent to ask about their repair process, communication policies, and any warranties or guarantees on their work.
In conclusion, Southern Exhaust & Auto Repair in Hampton, TN, presents a mixed picture based on the limited customer reviews. While some customers have reported positive experiences with professional and efficient service, others have detailed significant issues with communication, repair quality, and customer care. For local users considering this auto repair station, it is crucial to be aware of these contrasting experiences. It would be advisable to communicate very clearly about the required work, expected timelines, and to potentially seek additional references or information before entrusting their vehicle to this shop.

Southern Exhaust & Auto Repair Customer Reviews
I recently took my 2006 Ford F-150 to [Southern exhaust] in Hampton, Tennessee, for a leaking slave cylinder. Since they were already replacing the part, I provided a full clutch kit to have everything done at once. They did an outstanding job! The work was done professionally and efficiently, and I couldn’t be more pleased with the results. Even though I’m from Marion, North Carolina, I made the trip because my mother- and father-in-law highly recommended them. Now I see why! Their service exceeded my expectations, and I’ll definitely be returning for any future repairs. Highly recommend!

I took my truck there the week of thanksgiving. I understand that there were people in front of me but I got told 3 different times my truck would be ready by this date. It was not ready at all by those dates. (I had to call each time to find out if it was ready or not) Then they would tell me they ordered the wrong parts or it would be ready in a few more days. Then I was told it was finished, so I go up to pick it up and it is running worse than it was when I dropped it off. It wouldn't even stay running. They informed me that my carburetor was bad. But I took it there for them to fix it (whatever it took) to make it a daily driver. Along with a bunch of other things they fixed (witch they done a great job on everything but the carburetor) So then they fix it again and charge me more money. Then I drive it home and the oil line to my gauge randomly pops off and pours out my oil everywhere. Due to them replacing my spark plugs and cutting all my zip ties I had holding the wires together off of the motor. they did not put none back, also causing a few of my wires to melt against my headers. And the first time I went when my truck was done one of the workers was trying to prove to me it would run. (After telling me my carburetor was bad. so he held my truck wide open several times and he could have easly blew it up. 10/10 do not recommend. Bad communication, poor workmanship, careless actions, if you don't care how long it takes to get fixed and if you don't care if it really gets fixed or not 100% then take it to him but I do not recommend and will not be going back there because they will not even answer my phone calls.

They don't answer the phone. Tried multiple days and multiple times over the last 3 months. I don't want to drop my car off and then not be able to get ahold of them.

I had a clutch installed in a Subaru Impreza all wheel drive, a pretty big job. Southern did it quick at at the price they quoted. Love it! I have finally found a garage i can recommend and trust.

The shop/staff did a GREAT JOB!! Very polite and treated me respectfully. They are always busy but worked me in within 3 days of calling. Plus, had me in and out on the day I brought it in. My SUV has ran great ever since. The price for parts & labor was reasonable. I will definitely go back to them if / when (2009 SUV LOL) I need anything else done. Thanks Southern Exhaust 😃
