As an auto repair station specializing in tires, Route 6 Tires offers both new and used tires for sale. This provides customers with options depending on their budget and specific vehicle requirements. Beyond tire sales, the establishment is involved in tire repair and installation, which are fundamental services for maintaining vehicle safety and performance. The service provided encompasses mounting, balancing, and tire disposal, and may include TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System) reset. These are standard offerings expected from a dedicated tire shop.

Environment and Facilities

The physical environment of Route 6 Tires, based on available information, appears to be a functional tire shop. While specific details about waiting areas or amenities are not extensively highlighted, the primary focus is on the operational space for tire installation and repair. Like many auto repair stations, the emphasis is typically on efficiency in handling vehicles and providing necessary services. The presence of multiple locations, such as the Milford shop mentioned in customer feedback, suggests a network that aims to serve a broader geographical area. This implies a straightforward, service-oriented environment common to tire and auto repair facilities.

Services Offered

Route 6 Tires' core offerings revolve around tires and related services. They provide:

  • New Tire Sales: Customers can purchase a variety of new tires, suitable for different vehicle types and driving conditions.
  • Used Tire Sales: A notable aspect of their service is the availability of used tires, often a more economical option for those on a tighter budget.
  • Tire Installation: This includes mounting and balancing the tires on the vehicle, ensuring proper fitment and ride quality.
  • Tire Repair: Services for fixing flat tires or addressing slow leaks are essential for prolonging tire life and ensuring safety.
  • Tire Disposal: Proper disposal of old tires is part of their service, adhering to environmental guidelines.
  • TPMS Reset: After tire servicing, resetting the Tire Pressure Monitoring System is often necessary to ensure accurate readings.

It is important to note that while the primary focus is on tires, auto repair stations generally offer a broader range of vehicle maintenance services. However, the specific publicly available information about Route 6 Tires heavily emphasizes their tire-centric operations.

Features and Customer Experience

Route 6 Tires is a local business in Port Jervis, which can sometimes imply a more personal touch in customer interactions. From customer reviews, several features and aspects of the customer experience stand out:

  • Cash-Only Policy: One significant feature highlighted by a customer is their cash-only payment policy for certain transactions, which is an important detail for potential customers to be aware of before visiting.
  • Pricing: Reviews indicate that pricing for used tires can vary, with some customers finding them to be very good and honest, while others noted fluctuating prices or discrepancies from previous visits.
  • Speed of Service: Some positive feedback mentions quick tire replacement. However, other accounts suggest potential for longer wait times or delays, particularly when dealing with issues that arise post-service.
  • Customer Interaction: Customer experiences regarding politeness and friendliness vary, with one review noting politeness but expressing significant dissatisfaction with other aspects of service. Another review explicitly praises honest and good prices, highly recommending the shop.
  • Product Quality and Warranty: There have been instances where customers have reported issues with the quality of tires purchased, leading to dissatisfaction. One customer specifically mentioned a lack of business responsibility when tires failed shortly after purchase, and a perceived absence of a warranty or replacement offer for faulty products. The owner's stance, as reported by a customer, suggests that all tires are inspected before leaving the shop, and post-service issues are considered coincidental rather than a direct result of their product or service. This aspect of product reliability and post-sale support is a key consideration for customers.
  • Multi-Location Operation: The fact that Route 6 Tires operates multiple locations, including one in Milford, PA, is a feature that offers accessibility, though it also led to complications for one customer regarding matching tire patterns between locations.
Promotional Information

Based on the provided information, direct promotional campaigns or special offers from Route 6 Tires are not explicitly detailed. However, the presence of used tires at competitive prices can be considered an ongoing promotional aspect, appealing to customers seeking cost-effective solutions for their tire needs. The emphasis on offering "very good prices on all used and new tires," as stated in a positive review, suggests that competitive pricing is a key draw for the business. While no specific coupons or seasonal deals are mentioned, businesses in this category often rely on word-of-mouth and affordable options to attract and retain customers. For the most current promotional information, it would be advisable to contact Route 6 Tires directly via their phone number.

Route 6 Tires Customer Reviews

I had a trip planned to drive to CT Sunday morning to see my dad. I arrived at Route 6 tire in Port Jervis on Saturday afternoon about 1:30pm and was told my used tires were going to be $60 each. After having to go to an ATM, as they only deal in cash, I was told they only had 1 tire but I could go to the Milford shop for the other one. I explained that I bought tires there 6 months earlier for $55 but they insisted I was wrong and they have always been $60. I traveled the 10 min to the other shop and found out the tire they have, doesn’t match the patterns on the one I just put on. They were the same size, just different patterns. So I asked if he could give me 2 matching tires, as both shops are Route 6 Tire, just different locations? I was told they couldn’t do that. If I wanted them to match, I had to pay for both. So after installing 2 mismatched tires at 2 different shops 10 min from each other, I went home and prepared for my CT trip. The next morning I woke up to a flat tire and of course, Route 6 Tire is closed on Sundays. I had to call a taxi to bring me, and my flat tire, to Mavis in Matamoras PA. While they were fixing my tire, I was explaining the story to the receptionist. A man approached me and asked if I was talking about Route 6 tire in Port Jervis? I told him I was, and he explained that he just purchased 2 used tires for his vehicle at the same shop, on the same day as I did. He was there getting his 2 tires fixed as well. After calling a taxi and heading home, I tightened the wheel on and headed to CT for my journey. Today I called the owner at Route 6 tire and spoke to Damien. He specified he was the owner and that ALL tires are sprayed before leaving the shop. It was just a coincidence that 2 people on the same day got bad tires. He explained it was my fault the tire was flat and that when I left the shop, it was fine. Guess we can agree to disagree. As a reputable tire shop in a local town, you should stand by your product. I should not have to spend money on 2 tires to have one go flat the next morning. I only drove to the shop and home. Then it sat for 16 hours until I was ready to leave the next morning. It probably had a slow leak and that’s why it took so long to go flat. Bottom line, they get 1 star for being polite at the shop, but 0 for everything else. Nobody should use this shop if there’s a better option. Prices fluctuate from day to day, they pawn the bad tires off as customer irresponsibility, and don’t accept responsibility as a business to help the customer when their tires fail. They didn’t offer to replace the plugged tire for another. They didn’t offer anything, even after explaining the taxi, Mavis, plugging, and the time it took to take it off and put it back on. I’ll never use these shops again. Good luck if you do! 🤞👎
