Located at 121 Scarbrough Ln, Harriman, TN 37748, USA, Roane County Transmission & Auto Rpr serves the local community as an automotive repair station, with a particular focus on transmission services. They can be reached via phone at (865) 882-2399 or mobile at +1 865-882-2399. As an establishment operating under the platform category of Auto Repair Stations, their primary offering is the diagnosis, repair, and maintenance of various vehicle systems, with a specialized emphasis on transmission rebuilds and related automotive care.
Regarding the environment of Roane County Transmission & Auto Rpr, based on customer feedback, the prevailing theme points to challenges in communication and operational efficiency. While no direct descriptions of the physical space are available, the repeated mentions of difficulty in reaching staff by phone and the necessity for customers to physically visit the shop to obtain updates suggest an environment where communication protocols may be inconsistently applied or understaffed. This could lead to a perceived lack of proactive customer engagement within the shop's operational flow.
The services offered by Roane County Transmission & Auto Rpr primarily center around **transmission repair and rebuilds**, as explicitly stated in customer reviews. This indicates a specialization in a critical and complex component of vehicle mechanics. A transmission rebuild involves dismantling, inspecting, cleaning, and replacing worn or damaged parts within the transmission unit, aiming to restore it to proper working order. Beyond this specialization, as an "Auto Rpr" (Auto Repair) facility, it is reasonable to infer they also provide general automotive repair services. These typically include:
- General Mechanical Repairs: Addressing issues with engines, brakes, suspension, steering, and electrical systems.
- Vehicle Diagnostics: Using specialized equipment to identify problems indicated by dashboard warning lights or performance issues.
- Maintenance Services: Routine oil changes, fluid checks, filter replacements, and other preventive care to prolong vehicle life.
However, the available information heavily emphasizes experiences related to transmission services.
The features of Roane County Transmission & Auto Rpr, as illuminated by customer experiences, present a mixed picture. On one hand, there is an acknowledgment from at least one customer that "the man probably does good work as reviewed by others," suggesting that the technical quality of the repairs, when completed, can be satisfactory. This implies that the core mechanical competence for performing complex repairs, particularly transmission rebuilds, is likely present within the establishment.
On the other hand, several significant features highlighted in customer reviews relate to operational aspects that impact the customer experience. These include:
- Communication Challenges: A recurring theme is the "little to no communication or updates" and the difficulty in "near impossible to get ahold of over the phone." This lack of consistent and proactive communication is a significant pain point for customers, leading to uncertainty and frustration regarding vehicle status.
- Extended Service Timelines: Vehicles being held for "a month to start with" and then for "4 more weeks" for follow-up repairs indicates potentially lengthy service durations. This extended downtime, compounded by poor communication, necessitates customers to seek alternative transportation, incurring additional costs like rental vehicles.
- Lack of Proactive Updates: Customers report that they often had to "stop by to even see what was going on" or discover their vehicle was ready only after persistent calling, sometimes "for over a week or so" after completion. This lack of proactive notification creates inconvenience and unnecessary expenses for vehicle owners.
- Post-Repair Issues: Instances where a newly repaired component (e.g., a bad part installed in a transmission rebuild) fails shortly after the initial service, requiring a return visit. While a faulty part might not be the direct fault of the repair shop, the subsequent handling of the issue contributes to the overall customer experience. Similarly, issues like improperly secured components after repair, such as a plate under the car, suggest a need for more rigorous post-repair quality control.
- Customer Service Interactions: While some may perform good work, the overall customer service experience, particularly concerning responsiveness and accountability, appears to be a significant area of concern based on the shared anecdotes. Excuses given for missed appointments or lack of follow-up further contribute to customer dissatisfaction.
In terms of promotional information, the public perception of Roane County Transmission & Auto Rpr, based on the provided reviews, is heavily influenced by the aforementioned operational challenges. While there might be an underlying capacity for quality mechanical work, the reported difficulties in communication, extended turnaround times, and perceived lack of proactive customer service overshadow these potential positives. For a business in the Auto Repair Stations category, word-of-mouth and online reviews are critical promotional tools. The experiences shared by these customers, detailing frustration with lack of updates, difficulty reaching the shop, and unexpected delays, could serve as cautionary information for potential new clients.
Any promotional efforts would need to directly address these reported areas of concern to build trust and attract customers. For example, highlighting clear communication protocols, guaranteed turnaround times, or a dedicated customer service liaison could counter some of the negative perceptions. However, based solely on the provided information, the current customer experiences suggest that promotional emphasis would need to be placed on improving the customer journey and operational transparency to align with customer expectations in the highly competitive auto repair market.
In conclusion, Roane County Transmission & Auto Rpr, located at 121 Scarbrough Ln, Harriman, TN, focuses on transmission rebuilds and general auto repair. While there is an indication of mechanical competence, the overwhelming feedback from customers points to significant challenges in communication, extended service durations, and a lack of proactive customer updates. These operational issues have led to frustration and additional costs for clients, impacting the overall customer experience and potentially influencing future business. For prospective customers, it is essential to consider these reported aspects of service delivery when evaluating Roane County Transmission & Auto Rpr for their vehicle repair needs.

My vehicle was serviced here for a transmission rebuild. My vehicle was there for a month to start with. Little to no communication or updates and near impossible to get ahold of over the phone. EVER. We had to stop by to even see what was going on. Day after we finally got it back the transmission failed again. We had it towed back. Apparently a part installed was bad. I don't fault him for that. However, my car was then kept for 4 more weeks. I called many times with no answer. My husband and I had to stop by to see what was going on and we were told the part was expected the next day. Never heard another thing from them. That was my driving vehicle and I had to rent a vehicle twice within that month because my car was there with no updates. Finally, after christmas and calling constantly, I got ahold of someone who told me that my vehicle had been ready for over a week or so... mind you, I'd rented a car during that time because no one bothered to even call to tell me and I couldn't get ahold of them by calling them. I informed them that no one had let me know that my vehicle was ready and that I was frustrated because I had rented a vehicle twice because of not having my car back. The man just koled that in that case maybe it hadn't been ready for that long. And now after having it back for a little bit, my husband is having to reattach some kind of plate under the car that's super inconvenient to have to do without a lift because it was not secured back on properly. I believe the man probably does good work as reviewed by others, but unless you just have months on end to leave your car with no updates, I would not recommend to go here.

Bought a trailblazer off a guy and the transmission was replaced by Turpins about a year ago. Called Turpins because the transmission quit working and was told 2 times that he would come to look at my vehicle. Been almost a week. First excuse was that he couldn't find my house and I gave precise directions and gave him the phone number to call. I heard a lot of great things about Turpins but they aren't so great for me and I'm not happy

Ronnie took on the project of rebuilding my transmission that blew up on the way down from Wisconsin to Georgia. He is honest and cares about the quality of work his shop puts out. Great communication and most of all had the job done so I could get home to my children for Christmas 2021. Would definitely recommend Roane county transmission to anyone. Good group of guys in that shop. Thank you !

Highly highly highly recommend this shop!! On Monday night (3 days before Thanksgiving on a road trip) our van's 3rd and 4th gear went out on us on I-40. Thankfully my husband was able to shift down to 2nd and get us to a hotel. The next morning he called and spoke to Ronnie and arranged to drop the van off for a full transmisson rebuild. Mind you we are 900 miles from home and 90 miles from our final destination. Ronnie and his staff went to work right away and our van was ready for pick up on Wednesday evening. Ya'll Ronnie made a really tough situation into a really incredible experience. You can tell he really cares about his customers and the work they do. Like I said in the beginning - I highly recommend this shop.
