R & L Automotive Introduce

R & L Automotive is an Auto Repair Station located in Fort Collins, CO, specifically identified as being on the corner of Stover and Myrtle. While general information about R & L Automotive as a broader entity or other locations (like in Raytown, MO or Fort Wayne, IN) suggests a full-service auto repair shop offering a wide range of maintenance and repair services, the specific local perception of the R & L Automotive at the Stover and Myrtle location in Fort Collins appears to be significantly varied, with some prominent community concerns raised regarding its operational practices.

Based on broader information from R & L Automotive operations in other cities, the services typically offered by an establishment under this name would include a comprehensive array of general auto repair and maintenance. This would generally encompass oil changes, tire service and repair (including sales of trusted tire brands, rotations, and alignments), brake repair (pads, rotors, fluid flushes), AC service (inspections, efficiency checks, refrigerant issues), and more advanced services such as diagnostics for check engine lights and other vehicle issues. Other common services often include battery replacement, belts & hoses service, cabin air filter replacement, coolant & antifreeze service, cooling system repair, differential service, drivetrain service, exhaust system service, engine air filter replacement, and preventive maintenance for various mileage intervals (e.g., 30,000, 60,000, 90,000 miles). Some R & L Automotive locations also specialize in diesel engine maintenance and utilize digital inspections which provide detailed information and photos to customers. These services are critical for maintaining vehicle reliability, safety, and longevity.

The environment at the R & L Automotive at the corner of Stover and Myrtle in Fort Collins is described with notable community concerns. Some local residents and customers characterize the front lot as a "junkyard," indicating a disorganized and potentially unsightly appearance. There are also complaints about vehicles having their engines revved at "all hours of the night," suggesting disruptions to the neighborhood. Concerns have been raised about maintenance being performed on vehicles in the street, leading to "spilling fluids all over the street," which points to potential environmental and cleanliness issues. A specific customer review for this location also describes a "sketchy" payment method involving Venmo to a personal account rather than standard business transactions, leading to a loss of trust.

In contrast, reviews for other R & L Automotive locations (e.g., in Kansas City, MO, or Fort Wayne, IN) paint a very different picture. These describe a professional, competent, and honest environment, with staff like "Mike" and "Noland" being highlighted for their helpfulness, clear communication, and efficiency. These locations are praised for not pushing unnecessary repairs, being friendly, and providing quality work at affordable prices, often having a clean and welcoming atmosphere with amenities like free coffee and Wi-Fi. It is crucial for local users to understand that experiences may vary significantly depending on the specific R & L Automotive branch they encounter.

Based on the available information, the features of R & L Automotive (as a general brand) include a broad range of automotive services catering to diverse vehicle needs, from routine maintenance to more complex repairs. Many R & L Automotive locations boast a commitment to transparency in pricing and communication, providing detailed estimates and explaining repairs clearly to customers. The use of quality parts and experienced technicians is also a general feature often highlighted by positive reviews for other R & L Automotive locations, with some offering digital inspections for enhanced customer understanding. Some locations may also feature amenities like free coffee & WiFi and a key dropbox for convenience.

However, specific features of the Fort Collins location on Stover and Myrtle are overshadowed by community complaints, which indicate features such as disorganized vehicle storage, noisy operations at late hours, and questionable payment practices. It's important to distinguish between the general positive features associated with other R & L Automotive operations and the specific, concerning features reported for this particular Fort Collins branch. The ability to handle "all your auto repair needs, from batteries to brakes, and everything in between," as stated by some R & L Automotive entities, highlights a comprehensive service offering.

Promotional information for R & L Automotive (as a broader brand, since specific promotions for the Fort Collins location are not detailed) typically focuses on affordability, transparency, and customer savings. Some R & L Automotive locations offer money-saving specials, which might include a 10% discount on the total invoice for new customers on their first visit, or specific deals on services like a "Premier Vehicle Inspection" or "Performance Engine Service." The availability of financing options through Synchrony Bank Preferred Customer Credit Card for purchases of $199 or more is also a promotional tool offered by some branches, providing customers with payment flexibility. Some R & L Automotive locations promote free pre-purchase inspections to help customers avoid buying "lemons."

They also emphasize fast service and everyday low prices, aiming to make car repair affordable and hassle-free. The focus on customer satisfaction and being a "true neighborhood repair shop" is a common theme in their broader promotional messaging. However, due to the critical local reviews for the Fort Collins Stover and Myrtle location, any potential promotions for this specific branch would likely need to contend with the existing public perception of its operational environment and customer service practices. Without explicit promotional details for this specific Fort Collins location, the information available indicates that their reputation, for this particular branch, is currently a significant factor in how they are perceived by local users.

R & L Automotive Customer Reviews

I made an appointment days in advance and when I showed up to my "appointment", no one was there, and they did not even have my appointment written down or even scheduled. I left my car there, and a couple hours after I arrived home, they called back to let me know none of their mechanics were coming in that day. They were completely disrespectful of my time, and it wasted my whole morning, going back and forth, and still not receiving any car help. I rarely write reviews, especially negative ones, as I do not want to take a smaller business down, I just wish I never bothered with this place. Save your time and energy and go somewhere else, I wish I had.

Absolutely never go to these people, unless you want to be completely ripped off. This place is a joke. Brought my Wrangler in for a quick fix, rear tailgate locking mechanism wasn't working. Shop was a complete mess, was a bit off put by this but the mechanic and owner seemed nice. They were able to take look and told me that the tailgate lock would need replacing, but they could order the part and have it done the next business day. They called me shortly after I left and told me it would be over $700 to complete the repair ($400 for the part + $300 for labor by the hour. Three hours to replace a locking mechanism?) I told them I wouldn't be paying for that, found the part online ($55) and fixed it myself in under 30 minutes. Could not find literally anywhere online that was selling this part for over $100, where they came up with $400, I have no clue. Would love to see an invoice for that had they actually ordered the part. Completely disgusted by this predatory business. These people have absolutely no integrity. Especially if you are a young woman, if you come here, expect to be scammed.

The worst car service you could choose! They stole a charger and scraper from my car, used all my gas, drove my car around while they had it, and were unreachable for days because of a little snow. I think they were just using my car while I had to Uber to work every day and get a rental. Then when I picked it up it reeked of cigarette smoke for days. They put a “faulty” alternator in my car on top of everything. Horrible people not caring about anyone but themselves. One of the workers tried to buy my car off me one day - it’s the most sketchy business you could ever take your car to and on top of all - UNSAFE.

I've been using R&L for the last 4 years. I recently had them replaced my front driver side bearing. Shortly after they replaced it it was making a noise I took it back they replaced it. Shortly after that it was making a similar noise out of the same side. They charged me again to do the passenger side bearing, a week later the same noise. They tried to change my driver side bearing one more time with no luck. I took it to another shop and it was fixed right within hours. I had a similar situation with the water pump they had my car for a month I finally took it to another shop and they had it fixed that day within hours. When confronting Joseph or Ray they always give you a run-around. I was told one time that they're left was broken while I was standing under it talking with Joseph working on a car. Ray was telling me he was working on the lift while I was on the phone with him and obviously he was just making it up. They seem to make a lot of stuff up over there. They owe me $1,000 for my ball bearings that I paid them to fix and they never did. I had to pay someone else to do it right. They owe me $136 for an alignment.$100 for a speed sensor, $65.00 for a tire I need to buy because I suddenly had a bald one on my vehicle and no one knew why. They stole all of my money and tools out of my car the last time they had it. An air compressor, jump box, boombox, vacuum, Craftsman ratchets and other items totaling over $300. I filed a police report. They had my car for a month and couldn't put the timing belt on it correctly. When I took it to another mechanic they fixed it the same day and said there was no timing belt kit ever put on my vehicle. He said the police had never been replaced and they look like they were grinded on. He also mentioned there were missing bolts. When confronted by this they still lie! This was their mechanic buddy they sent me to LOL. Save yourself headaches, time and money. Pay someone that can actually fix your vehicle! R and L had my vehicle for months and never fixed it. They took money to fix it but didn't! Beware it's a scam!

The NEW R&L AUTO is now run by Ray's son Joseph. Joseph has done nothing good for this business as far as I can see,at one time it was legit but now it's a mess. Your cousin said he informed you that the windshield wipers for my car were not the right size but you told him to put them on anyway. After going to YOUR shop 5 times to get proper wipers I gave up and went to O'reilly and they did it for free and used the right size. I now know why you ask for money up front - your credit is tapped with an outstanding bill of $20,000 @ O'reilly's ,you are being denied auto parts and have no money to buy your own (trying to pass off large wipers because it's all you had??). Shame be on you Joseph. And what's with getting all your friends to leave favorable comments @ Google are they story telling for you? Reviews ...honest reviews help people to decide if a place such as yours is legit. There are new and strange people working at the shop, they are all running around and looking just as clueless as you are. You never return a phone call. I must warn you all, your car will be in the shop no less then a month! Ask for an itemized bill and receipt if you do go there (don't go there,I'm serious) Joseph gives a discount if it's cash do you wonder why? You will not get your money back DO NOT PAY UP FRONT! I'd like my $60 bucks back but doubt that will happen as Joseph told me twice he would return my money when he gets to the bank_____he has said this 3 times now. Women especially - PLEASE GO ELSEWHERE YOU WILL BE SO SORRY IF YOU GO HERE. Ray,I will miss your good and honest work I'm sorry your son Joseph does not know what he is doing he is shaming the business. I paid $700 bucks for struts and suspension - really? and how would I know it was even done? My car sounds horrible and does not ride even a little bump on the road very well without it bouncing and clucking! And to be given windshield wipers that are way to large shows me lazy and uncaring work. By the by Joseph I passed my emission test without a problem and to think you were going to charge me $150 when all it needed was a good run on the road before testing. I lost money waiting for you to make it pass emissions you promised me it would be done within the 10 allowable days and you did not do that. Quit making promises you can't keep, hire a REAL mechanic, clean up the filth and clutter, hire a real receptionist...or just close down because you can't rip people off for too long word gets around Joseph. There is only one son working at R&L the commenter named Joe was wrong - Jericho quit because of Joseph and the other brother is only 9 or ten years old.
