Purdy's Powersports Introduce

Purdy's Powersports, located at 905 Mulberry St, Loudon, TN 37774, USA, operates as a specialized retailer catering to the needs of powersports enthusiasts in the local Loudon community. While the platform category "Auto Repair Stations" typically refers to businesses offering vehicle repair services, Purdy's Powersports fits within this broader classification by providing essential goods and components for the maintenance, repair, and enhancement of various powersports vehicles. This distinct focus differentiates it from general automotive parts stores or traditional car repair shops.

Environment and Facility:

The environment at Purdy's Powersports would likely be tailored to its niche market. Given its specialization in powersports, the interior would probably feature a selection of parts and accessories specifically for motorcycles, ATVs (All-Terrain Vehicles), UTVs (Utility Task Vehicles), dirt bikes, and potentially marine vehicles or snowmobiles, depending on regional demand. You would expect to see shelves stocked with items like chains, sprockets, tires, helmets, riding gear, filters, oils, and various components unique to these types of vehicles. The space might be smaller and more specialized than a general auto parts store, focusing on depth of inventory for powersports rather than breadth for all vehicle types. Located on Mulberry Street, it would be reasonably accessible to local enthusiasts in Loudon, TN. While specific details about the aesthetics or customer waiting area are not available, the focus would be on providing a functional space for customers to find and purchase specialized powersports parts.

Services Offered:

Purdy's Powersports primarily focuses on the sale of specialized parts and accessories for powersports vehicles. While reviews indicate potential challenges with service consistency, the core offerings would include:

  • Powersports Parts Sales: This is the fundamental service, offering a wide array of components for motorcycles, ATVs, UTVs, and dirt bikes. This would include:

    • Chains and Sprockets: As explicitly mentioned in customer reviews, they stock various types and sizes of chains for bikes.
    • Tires and Wheels: Specialized tires and rims designed for off-road, street, or mixed-use powersports vehicles.
    • Engine Components: Parts for engines, such as filters, spark plugs, gaskets, and potentially more complex internal engine parts.
    • Brake Systems: Brake pads, rotors, lines, and calipers specific to powersports applications.
    • Suspension Components: Shocks, springs, and related parts for optimal ride and handling.
    • Electrical Components: Batteries, stators, regulators, and lighting for various powersports models.

  • Powersports Accessories: Beyond essential parts, they would likely sell a range of accessories like helmets, riding gear (jackets, gloves), protective equipment, luggage solutions, and customization items.

  • Fluids and Chemicals: Specialized oils, lubricants, coolants, and cleaning products formulated for the unique requirements of powersports engines and components.

  • Ordering Specialized Parts: For items not immediately in stock, they would offer the service of ordering specific parts for customers, leveraging their supplier network.

  • Online Sales (eBay Seller): As indicated by a customer review, Purdy's Powersports also operates as an eBay seller. This expands their reach beyond local customers, allowing individuals from other areas to purchase parts from their inventory online.

It's important to note that while they sell parts for repair, the reviews do not explicitly confirm in-house mechanical repair services for vehicles. Their categorization under "Auto Repair Stations" is more likely due to their provision of parts for such repairs.

Key Features:

Several key features define Purdy's Powersports, particularly as illuminated by customer feedback:

  • Specialization in Powersports: Unlike general auto parts stores, Purdy's Powersports has a focused inventory for motorcycles, ATVs, UTVs, and potentially other recreational vehicles. This specialization means they are more likely to have the specific or harder-to-find parts for these niche vehicles, such as particular chain types.

  • In-Stock Availability (with exceptions): One customer notes that they "always have in stock," which is a significant advantage for immediate repairs. However, the same review also points out instances where an item that should have been in stock was claimed to be out, leading to complications.

  • Online Presence/eBay Selling: Operating as an eBay seller expands their customer base and offers an alternative channel for purchases, providing convenience for some customers who prefer online transactions.

  • Customer Service Challenges (Communication and Exchange Policy): The provided reviews highlight notable inconsistencies in customer service. One review describes a "very rudely told" experience regarding an exchange for an opened and dirty part, even when the initial error (incorrect part supplied despite correct one being in stock) seemingly originated from the store. Another review mentions difficulty reaching them by phone and requiring communication via eBay text message, indicating potential communication bottlenecks. This suggests that while they can resolve issues (like issuing a refund for a non-fitting part), the process might not always be smooth or customer-friendly.

  • Problem Resolution (via eBay): The positive outcome of a refund for a part that didn't fit, handled through eBay text message, indicates a commitment to resolving issues, even if the communication channel is unconventional.

Promotional Information:

Specific traditional promotional campaigns for Purdy's Powersports are not detailed in the provided information. Given their specialization and online presence, their promotional efforts might primarily focus on:

  • eBay Store Listings: Their active presence as an eBay seller means their product listings themselves serve as a primary promotional tool, reaching a wide audience interested in powersports parts.

  • Stock Availability: For local customers, consistently having common powersports parts in stock (as noted in one review, despite an isolated incident) acts as a strong draw, as immediate availability is a significant benefit.

  • Word-of-Mouth: Positive experiences, particularly regarding parts availability or successful problem resolution, can lead to word-of-mouth recommendations within the local powersports community.

  • Competitive Pricing (Implied by online sales): To compete on platforms like eBay, they likely offer competitive pricing, which serves as a promotional factor.

  • Specialized Inventory: The very nature of their specialized inventory for powersports vehicles acts as a magnet for enthusiasts who know general auto parts stores won't carry what they need.

Customers interested in purchasing parts from Purdy's Powersports are advised to use their listed phone number ((865) 408-7315) or reach out via eBay's messaging system if they encounter difficulties. While there appear to be inconsistencies in their customer service approach, particularly regarding exchanges and direct phone communication, their specialization and presence as an eBay seller make them a distinct option for powersports parts in the Loudon, TN area.

Purdy's Powersports Customer Reviews

I've bought several chains for my bike over the years at Purdy's, they always have them in stock. Last week I went to buy one and was told they were out of stock and it would have to be ordered. I went to put it on and it was a link to short. I go to exchange it with what they actually had in stock that I originally needed and was very rudely told they couldn't exchange the one they ordered for me because it had been opened and was dirty from where I had tried to put it on my bike. If I would've been sold the correct chain they already had in stock this could've all been avoided. To add insult to injury it was the exact same person who said it was out of stock and had to be ordered that told me it couldn't be exchanged for what I needed that was in stock.

It's a bit difficult reaching this place by phone. They are an ebay seller and you have to go through ebay text message. They did take care of a order I had by issuing refund. Part did not fit bike.

Buyer be aware, this company does not follow their own remarks. I ordered parts on eBay and it says that the company ships within 3 business days and when I contacted them they said that it is set to ship on a date that is 8 days/ 6 business days after order date. Will not order from this company in the future

Hmmmm I wonder who you worked with?? Purdey’s Powersports has TONS of complaints online…. aweful reviews from people who ordered through their low-key business names on Ebay and Amazon…. lots of people INCLUDING MYSELF order parts from them and it takes a while to ship and then when the parts get there the quantity is incorrect or the part is wrong! Their ads say quantity is 10 but they send 6 or 4. Look at their reveiws. This happens often. I contacted them about my order and even though the Amazon ad is still up with the quantity I paid for the girl on the phone said “ Yeah no we won’t send you the correct parts you paid for ….. just send them back” Most people won’t go through the trouble and will take the loss. Look at the reviews. This is how they run their business.

Ordered 10w-40 motorcycle oil from them on Amazon, and did not receive all of the quarts I ordered. I was disappointed in their customer service overall, as it took me four days of calling them over and over again until someone answered the phone. They told me over the phone that the reason they don’t answer the phone is because they are “so busy with online orders”. However, I did not get the sense that this was the truth. Purdy’s said they would send me a return label, and refund me if I sent them back the motorcycle oil. However, I did not trust that I would get my money back from them since Amazon is the one who took my money in the first place. Luckily, Amazon had my back in this case. I will most likely not be doing business with Purdy’s or their OEM parts store again, simply because of the headache. I would not recommend purchasing online with them through Amazon. Only reason I am giving two stars is because they did ship my order very fast, which I appreciated until I realized that all of my order wasn’t in the box.
