Welcome to Monroe's Auto Shop, an auto repair station situated at 470 Wall St, Diamond Point, NY 12824, USA. As a provider within the Auto Repair Stations category, Monroe's Auto Shop offers automotive maintenance and repair services to residents and visitors in the Diamond Point area and its surroundings. Based on customer reviews, experiences at Monroe's Auto Shop appear to vary significantly, with some customers reporting highly positive interactions and others expressing serious concerns.

Details about the physical environment of Monroe's Auto Shop are limited. One customer review mentions that "the office smells like cat pee," which is a notable aspect of the environment reported by at least one individual. Beyond this, no other descriptions of the shop's facilities or atmosphere are provided in the available feedback.

The services offered at Monroe's Auto Shop, based on the customer reviews, include:

Brake Work: Including the replacement of front calipers and pads, and adjustment of rear brakes, as mentioned by one customer who later experienced significant issues.

Diagnostics: Attempting to identify vehicle problems, as indicated by one customer's $80 charge for what they perceived as a code scan.

Throttle Position Sensor Installation: Performing specific component replacements, although at least in one instance, this did not resolve the underlying issue.

Emergency Roadside Assistance: As highlighted in a positive review, the owner, Roger, demonstrated a willingness to go above and beyond by waiting for a late-night tow truck and even searching for a stranded motorist during an ice storm.

General Auto Repair: Implied by the fixing of a daughter's car so she could return to school safely, suggesting a capacity for general mechanical repairs.

The features of Monroe's Auto Shop, as perceived through the lens of customer experiences, present a mixed picture:

Owner Involvement: The owner, Roger, is a central figure in the reviews. One customer describes him as "experienced and skilled" and "as honest as they come," highlighting his willingness to work outside of regular hours and charge a "humble amount." Another review, however, details a negative experience involving misdiagnosis, unresolved issues, and concerns about billing practices.

Variable Service Quality: The stark contrast between the overwhelmingly positive and severely negative reviews suggests a potential inconsistency in service quality or customer experience.

Potential Billing Concerns: One customer reported being asked to pay for new back brakes due to the shop owing parts stores money and alleged attempts to overcharge for labor.

Diagnostic Limitations: One review suggests a reliance on code scanning that may not always lead to an accurate or complete diagnosis, with a subsequent inability to resolve the problem.

Exceptional Acts of Kindness: The detailed account of Roger assisting a stranded motorist in severe weather conditions showcases a remarkable level of personal dedication and care that goes beyond typical auto repair service.

At this time, there is no information available regarding any specific promotional offers at Monroe's Auto Shop. Local users interested in their services and pricing are advised to contact them directly at (518) 668-3966 or +1 518-668-3966. In conclusion, Monroe's Auto Shop in Diamond Point, NY, is an auto repair station that has elicited strong but contrasting reactions from its customers. While one set of experiences highlights the owner's exceptional kindness, honesty, and skill, particularly in an emergency situation, another review raises serious concerns about diagnostic accuracy, repair effectiveness, billing practices, and even the safety of the work performed. Potential customers should be aware of these differing perspectives and consider them when deciding whether to utilize the services of Monroe's Auto Shop. Direct communication with the shop regarding specific needs and clear understanding of the proposed work and associated costs are advisable.

Monroe's Auto Shop Customer Reviews

I brought my ram 3500 in for brake work. My front right caliper was sticking. They changed the front calipers and pads and adjusted the back brakes. They never changed the brake lines from the calipers. Those brake lines were falling apart from the inside out causing the fluid not to leave the brakes. They said it was good so I took my truck and 5th wheel back home and my brakes locked up on me on the highway. Luckily I survived and didn't crash. I brought my truck back 2 weeks later and now they are saying that it was driver error not the brake lines. They are also trying to get me to pay for new back brakes. They want me to buy them because they owe all the parts stores around here money. They also installed my throttle position sensor and it didn't fix the problem. Their response was take it somewhere else we can't figure it out. They tried to charge me 2 hours for one hour of work also. The office smells like cat pee. This place isn't only shady but they are dangerous.

Absolute best auto repair experience we've ever had! Roger is not only an experienced and skilled mechanic, he's as honest as they come! He went above and beyond to get my daughter's car fixed quickly (even working on it on a Sunday), so that she could get back on the road and get back to school safely. He diagnosed and fixed my daughter's car, and charged us a humble amount, despite working late on Saturday, and then again Sunday morning. Roger is as good as they come! STORY: Late afternoon yesterday (around 4:30 pm) while on her way back to college, my daughter's car broke down on Rte 87. She called AAA for a tow, but also realizing that it was 4:40 pm on a Saturday, she would need a mechanic to diagnose and hopefully fix her vehicle. The nearest auto repair shop was Monroe's Auto Shop and it was closing in 20 minutes. She called and spoke with Roger, who told her that he would wait until 6pm for the tow truck to bring her car to his shop. At 5:58 pm, the tow truck arrived to where her car had broken down, so we called Roger and asked if he'd mind if the tow truck dropped it off until he could take a look at it on Monday. He responded by saying "I told your daughter that I'd stay until the tow truck got here, and that's what I'll do." About 35 minutes later, my daughter called and said that the tow truck had slid into a ditch, and was stuck. An ice storm had struck the area. We called Roger again, at which time he stated that he had a 4 wheel drive vehicle and would go out to look for her. He found the tow truck and 3 other vehicles that had slid off the road and into the ditch within yards of one another. At this time it was around 7 pm, so I told Roger that I would get her a hotel room in Lake George, because the tow truck driver stated that he'd give her a ride there. Unfortunately, the tow truck that was going to pull the original tow truck out of the ditch, was rerouted to an accident up the road. Learning this, Roger suggested a nearby hotel and offered to give my daughter and her friend a ride there. Early Sunday morning, Roger called and let me know his diagnosis, and then helped me make arrangements to have parts delivered to him from a nearby town. A couple of hours later, Roger called and told me that he had fixed the car, and then drove to the hotel to pick up my daughter and bring her back to pick up the car. Roger is the type of person who brings back hope for honesty, integrity and goodness in this world. My husband and I will look forward to traveling in the area, so we can stop by to meet and thank Roger in person! Thank you Roger! Chris and Lisa Macaluso
