Environment and Facility

As a luxury car dealership, the Lexus of Maplewood Service Department is expected to offer a premium environment that aligns with the Lexus brand image. This typically includes a clean, modern, and comfortable waiting area for customers, often equipped with amenities such as Wi-Fi, refreshments, and comfortable seating. The service bays themselves would be expected to be well-maintained, organized, and equipped with specialized tools and diagnostic equipment designed specifically for Lexus vehicles. The overall environment aims to provide a sense of professionalism, luxury, and efficiency, reflecting the high standards associated with the Lexus brand. For a luxury dealership, attention to detail in the physical space is often paramount to enhancing the customer experience.

Services Offered

The Lexus of Maplewood Service Department provides a comprehensive range of services tailored for Lexus vehicles, encompassing both routine maintenance and more complex repairs. These services are typically performed by factory-trained technicians using genuine Lexus parts. Their offerings would include:

  • Routine Maintenance: This includes essential services such as oil changes, tire rotations, fluid checks and top-offs, multi-point inspections, and filter replacements. While one customer specifically noted fluids were not topped off during an oil change, this is generally an expected part of routine service at a dealership.
  • Diagnostic Services: Utilizing specialized Lexus diagnostic equipment, they can accurately identify and troubleshoot complex issues within the vehicle's engine, transmission, electrical systems, and onboard computers.
  • Brake Services: Comprehensive brake inspections, pad and rotor replacement, brake fluid exchanges, and anti-lock braking system (ABS) diagnostics.
  • Tire Services: Beyond rotations, this includes tire sales (often premium brands), wheel balancing, and alignment services.
  • Battery Services: Testing, replacement, and maintenance of vehicle batteries.
  • Engine Repair: Addressing issues ranging from minor repairs to major engine overhauls.
  • Transmission Services: Maintenance, repair, and replacement of vehicle transmissions.
  • HVAC System Services: Diagnosis and repair of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems.
  • Recall and Warranty Work: As an authorized dealership, they are equipped to handle any manufacturer recalls and perform repairs covered under Lexus's factory warranty.

It is important to note that while dealerships aim to provide comprehensive care, customers have reported instances of "unnecessary services" being recommended, which can be a concern for some.

Features and Approach

The Lexus of Maplewood Service Department, as part of a luxury brand dealership, aims to offer features that distinguish its service from independent repair shops:

  • Factory-Trained Technicians: Their technicians are specifically trained by Lexus to work on Lexus vehicles, ensuring expert knowledge of the brand's engineering and technology.
  • Genuine Lexus Parts: They exclusively use Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) parts, which are designed to fit perfectly and maintain the vehicle's original performance and integrity.
  • Specialized Diagnostic Equipment: Access to proprietary Lexus diagnostic tools allows for precise and efficient troubleshooting specific to Lexus models.
  • Warranty on Repairs: Dealerships typically offer a warranty on parts and labor for their repairs, providing peace of mind to customers.
  • Customer Amenities: As is common with luxury dealerships, they may offer amenities such as loaner vehicles, shuttle services, and comfortable waiting lounges.

However, based on customer feedback, there are noted concerns regarding their approach. Customers have expressed a loss of "trust" due to perceived issues like "creating a problem that not exist" or recommending "unnecessary services," which suggests a focus on upselling that has negatively impacted customer confidence.

Promotional Information

Lexus of Maplewood Service Department primarily promotes its services through its affiliation with the Lexus brand itself. This includes leveraging the brand's reputation for luxury, reliability, and engineering excellence. Promotional efforts would typically include:

  • Online Presence: Their official dealership website would detail service offerings, allow for online scheduling, and potentially feature service specials or coupons.
  • Service Specials: Like many dealerships, they likely offer rotating service specials on common maintenance items (e.g., oil changes, tire rotations, brake inspections) to attract customers. These could be advertised on their website or through direct mail.
  • Customer Loyalty Programs: As a dealership, they might participate in Lexus-specific loyalty programs that offer benefits or discounts for repeat service visits.
  • Emphasis on Genuine Parts and Expert Technicians: Their promotional messaging would highlight the use of genuine Lexus parts and the expertise of their factory-trained technicians as key differentiators.

Despite these typical promotional strategies, the recent customer reviews indicate that direct customer experience, particularly concerns about trust and perceived upselling, is currently significantly impacting their reputation and potentially undermining their promotional efforts.

Customer Experiences

Customer experiences with the Lexus of Maplewood Service Department, as reflected in the provided reviews, indicate a significant level of dissatisfaction and a loss of trust.

One customer directly states, "This car dealer cannot be trusted," accusing the repair shop of "creat a Problem that not exist with a brand new car" and then charging for its "repair," including "overcharg." This severe accusation of fabricating issues and excessive billing is a major concern, leading the customer to label it "shocking" and "sad to see this kind of service from a Lexus dealer."

Another loyal Lexus owner, with a history dating back to 1995, expressed "disappointment with the recent service." They specifically noted that during a routine oil change costing $105.00, their fluids were "not topped off," which is a basic expectation for such a service. More critically, they were "presented with a list of unnecessary services that my vehicle allegedly required," leading to a feeling that the focus was "more on upselling than providing quality care." This experience caused the long-term customer to "lose confidence" and decide to "be seeking service elsewhere in the future."

These reviews highlight a consistent pattern of customer concerns regarding trust, transparency in diagnostics and billing, and perceived aggressive upselling tactics. The core issues revolve around a fundamental breakdown in the customer-mechanic relationship, where customers feel exploited or misled rather than genuinely cared for. For a luxury brand like Lexus, where customer service and premium experience are paramount, these negative sentiments represent a significant challenge to their reputation and ability to retain loyal clientele.

This car dealer cannot be trusted. Trust is big in my book. The repair shop creates a Problem that not exist with a brand new car. Then of course, will repair the problem that does not existent and charge you to repair it. In fact overcharges you for the repair. It is shocking to see this from a Lexus dealer. It’s so sad To see this kind of service from a Lexus dealer.

I am writing to express my disappointment with the recent service I received at your dealership. As a loyal Lexus owner since 1995, I expected a much higher level of service than what I experienced during my recent visit. I brought my vehicle in for a routine oil change, which cost $105.00. However, I was extremely disappointed to find that my fluids were not topped off as part of this service. Additionally, I was presented with a list of unnecessary services that my vehicle allegedly required, which left me feeling that the focus was more on upselling than providing quality care. This experience has caused me to lose confidence in your dealership, and I will be seeking service elsewhere in the future. I hope you take this feedback seriously and address these issues to better serve your customers.

This dealer tries to rip you off. It created a faulty report about what problems my car had. My Lexus is about 40,000 miles and just ended its 5 year warranty. The serviceman recommended me to replace pump, and coolant at the cost of $2,364.33 and timing cover seal at the cost of $5,033.62 I brought my car to a different service place for a second opinion and after checking everything, they said nothing wrong with my car.

I had a terrible experience at Lexus of Maplewood Service Department. They began to work on my car without asking me . I was angry and told them to bring my car back to me. They read my odometer incorrectly ( it was set on kilometers instead of miles ). They proceeded to tell me I needed a new tire . I ended up taking my car to a tire store and they told me that my tire was just fine . I will never return to the Lexus of Maplewood Service center in my lifetime.

Had a great experience here, brought my 2008 in for engine light on. Mike was great, even sent me a video of what was wrong and where it was located. White glove experience. Very satisfied with the outcome!
