LaFontaine Collision Center & Body Shop of Lansing Introduce

LaFontaine Collision Center & Body Shop of Lansing, located at 2727 Prospect St, Lansing, MI 48912, USA, is an establishment within the Auto Repair Stations category. This center aims to provide a range of services for vehicles that have sustained damage, from minor dents to significant collision repairs. The facility is part of the larger LaFontaine Automotive Group, which generally emphasizes customer satisfaction and a comprehensive approach to vehicle care.

The facility is designed to handle various types of auto body work. This includes repairs after accidents, addressing cosmetic damage, and potentially performing warranty-related body work. Auto Repair Stations typically offer services such as dent removal, paint matching, frame straightening, and replacement of damaged vehicle components. Given its classification as a collision center, LaFontaine is expected to have specialized equipment and trained technicians to address structural and aesthetic damage resulting from impacts. They often work with insurance companies to streamline the repair process for customers, assisting with claims and approvals.

The environment of a collision center like LaFontaine Collision Center & Body Shop of Lansing is typically characterized by a large workspace, dedicated bays for different stages of repair, and specialized tools. There would likely be a reception area for customer intake, a waiting area, and offices for staff to manage repairs and interact with clients. The shop floor itself would be equipped with painting booths, frame machines, and various tools for panel replacement and detailing. A key aspect of any reputable auto repair station is cleanliness and organization, which contributes to efficient workflow and customer confidence in the quality of work being performed. While specific details about the interior decor or exact layout are not available, the expectation for a professional auto repair station is a functional and well-maintained environment.

The services offered by LaFontaine Collision Center & Body Shop would generally encompass a broad spectrum of auto body and collision repair needs. This includes repairing damage to the vehicle's exterior, such as bumpers, fenders, doors, and hoods. They would also provide paint services, aiming to match the vehicle's original color and finish seamlessly. Structural repairs, which are critical after significant collisions, would involve using specialized equipment to realign the vehicle's frame to factory specifications. Other potential services might include glass replacement, wheel alignment checks after impact, and detailing to ensure the vehicle is returned to the customer in a pristine condition. The center's affiliation with the LaFontaine group suggests a commitment to utilizing genuine parts or high-quality aftermarket equivalents, and adhering to manufacturer repair guidelines when possible.

Based on customer reviews, there have been some notable concerns regarding the quality of work and customer service at LaFontaine Collision Center & Body Shop of Lansing. One customer reported issues after a deer collision, including mismatched color badges, a crooked hood, and a misaligned bumper, even after substantial work had been performed. This individual highlighted perceived failures in quality control and attention to detail from management, specifically mentioning that flaws were not identified prior to vehicle pickup. The customer also expressed dissatisfaction with the way their concerns were addressed, feeling that responsibility was shifted rather than problems being directly resolved. This led to the vehicle being taken to another shop for correct repairs, ultimately diminishing their trust in the LaFontaine brand.

Another customer experienced significant issues with a hood replacement under warranty for corrosion. The new hood reportedly had problems with "orange peel" in the paint, dirt nibs, improperly installed and damaged nameplates, small cracks in the clear coat, and unpolished sandpaper scratches. Upon returning the vehicle for corrections, the customer stated that the issues became worse, with visible sanding marks and no attempt to fix clear coat cracks. The customer also detailed an instance where they had to demonstrate the correct installation of a part to technicians and management, indicating a lack of basic technical knowledge or attention to detail within the shop. This experience also led to the customer stating they would not return and highlighted poor quality control, with a subsequent independent assessment confirming underlying issues that would require a complete repaint. These customer experiences suggest areas where the center may need to improve its quality assurance processes, technician training, and customer communication to meet expectations and ensure satisfactory repairs.

While specific promotional information for LaFontaine Collision Center & Body Shop of Lansing is not provided in the given data, auto repair stations often engage in various promotional activities. These can include offering free estimates for repairs, particularly after collisions, which helps customers understand the scope and cost of the work needed. They might also have partnerships with insurance providers, making it easier for customers to navigate the claims process. Discounts for certain services, seasonal promotions, or loyalty programs are also common. Given its affiliation with a larger automotive group, there might be cross-promotional efforts with new car sales or service departments. Online presence, through a website and social media, would typically be used to showcase services, share positive testimonials, and provide contact information. However, based on the provided customer feedback, any promotional efforts would ideally be coupled with a strong emphasis on consistent quality control and transparent communication to build and maintain customer trust.

LaFontaine Collision Center & Body Shop of Lansing Customer Reviews

I attempted to handle this issue discreetly and professionally via email and phone, but that didn't get me anywhere. My 2023 1500 Sierra was dropped off at the collision center after a deer collision. When I went to pick it up the first time the truck had two different color badges, the hood was crooked and the bumper was pushed back about an inch and a half into the passenger side wheel well. This is after $6k worth of work had been done to the truck. Obviously, I was displeased with the work and reached out to several people and was connected with John Baker. When I went to pick up the truck the second time, the bumper was still pushed back a half inch... when I called John out on his attention to detail he quickly shoved it off on the insurance company; just as he had shoved it off on an employee the first time I came in "SOMEONE OBVIOUSLY WAS HAVE(ing?) A BAD DAY .. ILL GET IT HANDELD THO AND AGAIN I APOLOGIZE FOR IT =/"... The truck is headed to another shop to be fixed correctly so it wasn't an issue with the getting approval from the insurance company. I'm not an auto body tech, I have no experience in the profession. I shouldn't be pointing out flaws to professionals. That's the job of whoever is in charge and overseeing the shop. John claims he looks over each vehicle before it leaves his shop.. this guy had every opportunity and an extra week to make it right for me and for the LaFontaine brand - he failed us both. He failed every single employee in the shop who actually takes pride in their work. John's customer service matches his attention to detail.. I'm not sure whose favor he is but maybe move him to a department where quality isn't the main concern. This experience has ruined the LaFontaine name for me.

Worst body shop experience I have had. Not happy with there work or customer service. I took my Ram 2500 to Lafontaine Body Shop in Lansing, to have the hood replaced under warranty for a corrosion issue. The hood that they painted and installed has a bunch of orange peel and dirt nibs. Hood nameplates were installed wrong and one was even chipped and scratched up but they still installed it. Has a bunch of small cracks in clear coat on hood. Has scratches from sand paper that was never polished out. Back corners of the hood where never sprayed with base coat so they cleared over the gray sealer. Looks great when the sun hits it at an angle. I took the truck back to this bodyshop the following week for them to fix the hood and it is worse now than before. They didn't properly wet sand and polish, so now the small sanding marks are big spots of shiny scratches with haziness around them. They didn't even attempt to fix the tiny cracks in the clear coat. The dirt and orange peel on the driverside hood was sanded out but they didnt finish with a fine enough sandpaper so that looks like a ton of tiny scratches everywhere. They didnt attempt to fix the dirt and orange peel on the passenger side of the hood which at this point, I know they couldnt handle the task anyway. They did replace the hood nameplates again and there was still an issue with the passenger side not sitting flush. When I brought it up, the manager was rude and tried dismiss the issue because he clearly didn't care or want to deal with it. Fortunately there plow truck was sitting outside and it was a newer Heavy Duty Ram with the same style hood, so we walked over and looked at those hood nameplates and sure enough, they were sealed tight to the hood. At this point he realized I proved him wrong so he went out to the shop and got his technician and a new nameplate. I looked at the clips on the backside of the new nameplate and I saw what the issue was, so I showed him how to install the nameplate correctly. The technician kept disagreeing with me and even tried to install it the wrong way again! I had to stop him and convince him to try to do it the way I showed him. He kept saying "it's not gonna make a difference". Once he did it the way I showed him, it snapped right in and sealed all around the nameplate like it should have in the first place. At that point him and the manager were just staring at eachother and walked off. It's pretty bad when a customer has to show them how to install a part correctly. This place has poor quality control. Very disappointed and I will never go here again. *Update- I had a different bodyshop look at the work they did to see if anything can be done and they told me that the cracks in the clear are down to the base coat and would require a repaint. They showed me where they used seam sealer over the rear drain holes so if I ever get water in the hood again from the nameplate seals drying out, it wont drain out by lifting the hood. They pointed out how the hood was not properly aligned.

The service I received from La Fontaine Collision was outstanding! The body work is perfect, and they detailed every inch of my Blazer, both its exterior and interior. I expected they would run it through the car wash, but I had no expectation that it would be detailed. It looks like BRAND NEW. I appreciated the free loaner car they provided me and was really impressed with the whole experience. I would highly recommend this body shop to everyone!

Absolutely the worst experience I have ever had with any dealership, impossible to get a return phone call. They literally sabotaged my vehicle and I have had to take it to multiple other dealerships to rectify their mistakes. Took them 3 months to do $7000 of work. The first time I went to pick up my vehicle. It was missing the tonneau cover, Had a flat tire, bent rim, busted steering knuckle, like they didn't even inspect it, absolutely refused to fix the oil leak that they identified. Tried to tell me it didn't exist (other dealership had no problem finding.) along with many other deliberate sabotaging acts, it will now be handled by michigan AG's office and the insurance company's fraud dept.

I hit a deer with my 2018 Ram 1500 Night Edition, LaFontaine Body Shop did an excellent job of getting all parts replaced, repainting my bumper and reshaping around the headlamp. Took a few weeks because it was winter time and turn around wasn't probably as good as summer, but other than that they did a thorough job of getting all things replaced and even detailed my truck! Thank you so much for the great service you provided! I would highly recommend taking your vehicle to them should you ever need some body work or an insurance claim done on your vehicle. I know if I have issues in the future with anything that they will get it fixed up again... thoroughly! (Front end collision, see "before" and "after" photos below)
