Jasper Engines & Transmissions Introduce

Jasper Engines & Transmissions, located at 14407 S Gougar Rd Ste 500, Lockport, IL 60491, USA, is an establishment operating within the category of "Auto Repair Stations" by offering specialized goods and services related to vehicle drivetrain components. While not a traditional general auto repair shop, Jasper is a significant player in the automotive industry, primarily known as the nation's leading remanufacturer of engines, transmissions, differentials, and other powertrain products. This location serves as a key point of distribution or service for their remanufactured products, catering to a wide network of installers and, by extension, individual vehicle owners.

The environment at a Jasper Engines & Transmissions facility, particularly a distribution or service point, would likely be more industrial and functional than a typical retail store. While customer-facing areas might be present for inquiries and order placements, the core of the operation would involve managing and distributing heavy automotive components. This means a focus on logistics, warehousing, and potentially, technical support for installers. Cleanliness, organization, and safety protocols for handling heavy machinery and parts would be paramount. The physical space would be designed for efficient movement of engines and transmissions, potentially utilizing forklifts and other equipment for loading and unloading. While specific details about the Lockport branch's individual environment are not available, the overarching company culture, established since 1942, emphasizes "Do It Right...and Have Fun," promoting a dedicated and professional approach to their work, which would likely extend to their branch operations.

Jasper Engines & Transmissions offers a highly specialized range of goods and services. Their primary business revolves around the remanufacturing of a diverse line of powertrain components. This includes:

  • Gas Engines: Remanufactured to meet or exceed original equipment manufacturer (OEM) tolerances.
  • Diesel Engines: A complete line for domestic and import vehicles, including major brands like Caterpillar, Cummins, GM, International, Ford, Isuzu, and Perkins.
  • Transmissions: Remanufactured automatic and standard transmissions, transfer cases for 4-wheel drive and all-wheel drive applications.
  • Differentials: A full line of full-float and semi-float rear-wheel drive differentials.
  • Other Components: Including marine engines, sterndrives, outboard lower units, turbos, and fuel components.

Their service model primarily involves remanufacturing these components to high standards, often incorporating updates to correct original manufacturer design concerns for improved performance and longevity. They then distribute these remanufactured products to a vast network of installers. For individual customers, this means that while they might not directly perform the engine or transmission swap at this location, they provide the core component that a local mechanic or installer would then install into the vehicle. Their comprehensive testing procedures, such as live-run testing for gas engines and dynamometer testing for transmissions, are a key part of their service offering, aimed at ensuring reliability and performance.

The features of Jasper Engines & Transmissions are highly emphasized in customer reviews, though with a distinct dichotomy. One customer praises "Excellent service" and "Great customer service," highlighting that they "fixed my car while educating me exactly what my car needed in a timely manner. Highly recommend this place." This positive feedback points to features like knowledgeable staff, timely service, and a willingness to educate the customer, which are highly valued in the automotive repair industry. This suggests a commitment to transparency and efficient problem-solving for some customers.

However, another customer review presents a significantly negative and detailed experience, which sheds light on potential features related to their warranty and customer support processes. This customer states, "I don't think I could have a worse experience with a company. I'm constantly being told one thing and then after we agree, I'm then told a totally different story. DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM HERE. Their warranty process is a joke." The review details an engine failure after just 9,000 miles, issues with partial labor coverage under warranty, and a requirement for the engine to be returned for inspection before fault is determined. A second replacement engine then allegedly blew a head gasket upon startup, with the company refusing to cover the labor for removal and reinstallation, citing "too bad so sad." The customer also complained about rude staff and a lack of apologies for inconvenience, leading them to warn others to "learn the hard way" and "stay away from Jasper." This extensive negative feedback indicates potential features related to inconsistent communication, a challenging warranty claims process, and perceived lack of accountability for product failures, which are critical considerations for potential customers. It highlights that while they offer a "Nationwide Transferable Parts and Labor Warranty up to 3 Year/100,000 Mile" for most applications, the application and execution of this warranty can be a source of significant customer dissatisfaction for some.

As for promotional information, Jasper Engines & Transmissions is known for its nationwide presence and extensive warranty offerings. Their primary promotion seems to be the "up to 3 Year/100,000 Mile Nationwide Transferable Parts and Labor Warranty" for most consumer and commercial applications. This warranty is a significant selling point, aimed at providing peace of mind to customers. Beyond this, their marketing efforts often involve partnerships with local installers and a focus on the quality and reliability of their remanufactured products, which they claim "meet, or exceed, original specifications and, where applicable, improve OEM design." They also highlight their "cellular approach to remanufacturing" and "thorough testing" of each product as features that ensure quality. While direct consumer-facing promotions like seasonal discounts might be offered by their network of installers, Jasper's own promotions typically center on the inherent value and long-term benefits of choosing their remanufactured components. For specific pricing on their products or details about their warranty, prospective customers or their mechanics would need to consult their online catalog or contact their customer service line at (773) 772-7777 or +1 773-772-7777. Given the contrasting reviews, it would be prudent for customers to thoroughly review the full warranty terms and understand the claims process in detail before making a purchase.

I don't think I could have a worse experience with a company. I'm constantly being told one thing and then after we agree, I'm then told a totally different story. DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM HERE. Their warranty process is a joke. We bought an engine from them and it had issues and needed a warranty claim after just 9k miles, yes I said it, 9k miles. They then say labor is covered, but it is really only a portion. And then it's only covered after they get the engine to determine if it was their "fault". Well then they send another engine that gets installed and blows a head gasket the minute it starts up and they tell me too bad so sad, you have to pay to have that engine taken out, and a new one put in AGAIN. All while we lose thousands of dollars a day because our truck is out of commission. Then half the people you talk to are rude and don't even apologize for any inconvenience. We should have listed to my mechanic and stayed away from Jasper when he told us. Now we had to learn the hard way!
