Dutro Collision Center Introduce

Dutro Collision Center, situated at 131 S 5th St, Zanesville, OH 43701, USA, operates as a specialized "Auto Repair Station" primarily focused on vehicle body and collision repairs. As part of the larger Dutro dealership group, which includes Dutro Ford Lincoln Inc., the Collision Center is dedicated to restoring vehicles to their pre-accident condition after various types of damage. Located in Zanesville, it serves the local community as a resource for professional bodywork.

It's important to note that customer experiences with collision centers can vary widely due to the complex nature of post-accident repairs, involving insurance processes, parts availability, and the intricate work required. The provided reviews for Dutro Collision Center present a mixed picture, highlighting both positive aspects of customer interaction and significant concerns regarding repair quality and communication.

Environment and Facilities

As a professional "Auto Repair Station" specializing in collision repair, Dutro Collision Center is expected to house facilities specifically designed for bodywork. While detailed descriptions of their specific layout or amenities are not publicly provided in the given information, a typical collision center environment would include:

  • Dedicated Repair Bays: Spaces equipped for disassembling damaged vehicles, performing structural repairs, body panel replacement, and detailing.
  • Paint Booths: Controlled environments for automotive painting to ensure a high-quality finish that matches the original vehicle color and texture.
  • Advanced Equipment: Tools for frame straightening, dent pulling, welding, and advanced diagnostic equipment to ensure structural integrity and proper functionality after repairs.
  • Estimating and Customer Service Areas: Spaces where customers can discuss repair estimates, insurance claims, and receive updates on their vehicle's status.

Being part of a larger dealership group like Dutro implies a certain level of professionalism and investment in infrastructure, aiming to provide a capable environment for comprehensive vehicle restoration. Their address, adjacent to Dutro Ford Service, suggests a consolidated campus for automotive needs in Zanesville.

Services Offered

Dutro Collision Center, falling under the "Auto Repair Stations" category, primarily offers services related to collision damage and auto body restoration. While a complete list of their services isn't provided, typical offerings at such a facility would include:

  • Collision Repair: Comprehensive repair services for vehicles damaged in accidents, ranging from minor fender benders to major structural damage. This includes fixing dents, replacing damaged body panels, and restoring the vehicle's structural integrity.
  • Paint Services: Professional automotive painting, including color matching, spot painting, and full vehicle repaints to ensure a seamless finish that blends with the original paintwork.
  • Dent Removal: Repair of dents, both large and small, using various techniques including traditional bodywork and potentially paintless dent repair (PDR) for minor imperfections.
  • Frame Straightening: Utilizing specialized equipment to restore the vehicle's frame to factory specifications, crucial for safety and alignment after a severe impact.
  • Glass Replacement: Replacement of damaged windshields, side windows, and rear windows.
  • Bumper Repair/Replacement: Repair or replacement of damaged front and rear bumpers.
  • Working with Insurance Companies: A key aspect of collision repair, they typically assist customers with insurance claims, providing estimates and communicating directly with adjusters to streamline the repair process.

The goal of these services is to restore vehicles to their pre-accident condition, ensuring both cosmetic appeal and structural safety.

Features and Customer Experience

The customer experience at Dutro Collision Center, based on the provided reviews, presents a dichotomy:

Positive Aspects:
  • Attentive and Personable Staff: One review highlights that "The employees have been super attentive, personable, and were empathetic regarding my situation." This indicates a strong initial focus on customer care and understanding, which is crucial during the stressful time following an accident.
  • Empathy for Customer Situations: The mention of empathy is a significant positive, suggesting that the staff attempts to make customers feel supported and understood, particularly when dealing with frustrating insurance or previous repair experiences from other facilities.
Areas of Concern:
  • Extended Repair Timelines: A significant concern raised is the length of time required for repairs, with one customer stating it "Took nearly 3 months to get my truck back after a deer collision." Extended repair times can be highly inconvenient and impactful, especially for essential vehicles.
  • Post-Repair Issues and Quality Control: The most critical concern noted is the presence of problems immediately after picking up the vehicle. Flashing dashboard lights ("All wheel drive system problem" and "Emission system problem") and an uncharged A/C system, despite being billed to insurance, point to potential issues with thoroughness of repair and quality control.
  • Communication and Responsibility: The refusal to take responsibility for post-repair issues, with a staff member (Denny) stating the lights had "nothing to do with the accident," and advising the customer to take the vehicle to another dealership (Zanesville Honda) to fix problems that arose directly after their repair, is a significant red flag. This indicates a potential breakdown in customer service and accountability.
  • Additional Costs to Customer: Having to pay an additional $400 out-of-pocket to fix issues that seemingly stemmed from the collision center's repair or oversight negatively impacts customer trust and satisfaction.
  • Overall Negative Recommendation: The strong statement "Would never go back! Poor customer service" is a clear indication of a highly unsatisfactory experience for at least one customer.

These reviews suggest that while initial customer interaction might be positive, the ultimate outcome of the repair process, including quality control and post-repair support, can be inconsistent.

Promotional Information and Community Engagement

Given the mixed customer feedback, Dutro Collision Center's primary "promotion" would likely be through its affiliation with the broader Dutro dealership network, which typically leverages its established brand and presence in the community. As part of a larger automotive group, they may participate in dealership-wide promotions or rely on the overall reputation of Dutro for new and used car sales and service. However, for a collision center, effective promotion often comes from:

  • Insurance Partnerships: Being a preferred or recommended repair shop by various insurance companies is a significant driver of business.
  • Online Visibility: Maintaining a professional online presence, potentially with a gallery of before-and-after repairs, can help build confidence.
  • Customer Testimonials: While mixed in this instance, positive reviews are crucial for attracting new business. Addressing and resolving negative feedback publicly, if possible, can also demonstrate a commitment to improvement.

The first review mentions the vehicle going in for body work on Monday, May 6th. This implies an ongoing process of intake and repair. For any current promotions, to schedule an estimate, or for further inquiries, individuals are advised to contact Dutro Collision Center directly at (740) 455-4400 or via mobile at +1 740-455-4400. Their physical location is 131 S 5th St, Zanesville, OH 43701, USA.

Dutro Collision Center Customer Reviews

So far so good with the collision center. The employees have been super attentive, personable, and were empathetic regarding my situation. Another dealer in West Virginia had given me the runaround on a repair so much that my insurance adjuster asked me to take it elsewhere. My vehicle goes in Monday, May 6th for body work and I will update my review of any changes when I get it back.

Took nearly 3 months to get my truck back after a deer collision. Picked up my truck and the dash showed 2 large flashing lights which said "All wheel drive system problem" and "Emission system problem". Part of the repair was to recharge the A/C which they billed my insurance for but as I drove away was obviously not done. Called them back immediately and Doug said they didn't have anybody that could look at it and to take it to Zanesville Honda to check lights and A/C. I ended up paying $400 to get this all fixed! When my insurance talked to Dutro, Denny said the lights coming on had nothing to do with the accident! Coincidence that the lights come on just at the same time as my accident? Would never go back! Poor customer service.

Don took his truck in for repair for a long scrape and dent on the right quarter panel. First of all Doug was very accommodating with writing up the estimate and assuring him the job would be completed by the estimated completion date. When he picked up his truck yesterday (a week and a half later), not only did the outside look brand new but the inside was immaculate too. It hasn’t been this clean since he bought it 2 years ago! THANK YOU Dutro Express Team for a job well done! We will highly recommend you and will definitely be back the next time we need body repair services.

Recently had hail damage repairs from the early May 2022 storm completed by Dutro Collision and DentSmart. Initially, I was told it would be 2 weeks to repair everything and it ended up being almost 4 weeks in total. I never received any update or courtesy calls. It’s clear that they are taking on more repair orders than they can handle in a timely manner and that’s deteriorating their customer service. Unfortunately, once I received the vehicle back, there was two major dents that were still not repaired and I found new damage (scuffs, scratches, discoloration, etc.) that occurred during their repair work. Highly recommend you take your vehicle somewhere else for damage repairs.

Top notch customer service. The manager is very personable and made sure I was taken care of even when the insurance company was being difficult. They do great work. I could not be happier with my experience at Dutro Body Shop.
