DTR Racing Introduce
DTR Racing, situated at 1810 Commercial St NE, Salem, OR 97301, USA, operates as a specialized establishment within the "Auto Repair Stations" category, focusing primarily on the repair, maintenance, and performance enhancement of motorcycles, ATVs (quads), and dirt bikes. While the term "Auto Repair Stations" can broadly encompass various vehicle types, DTR Racing's niche is clearly in the powersports and off-road vehicle segment. Customers seeking service for their two-wheeled and four-wheeled recreational vehicles can reach them at (503) 589-1300 or via mobile at +1 503-589-1300.
The environment at DTR Racing, typical for a specialized repair shop, would likely be a blend of a workshop and a customer reception area. Given their focus on powersports, the shop floor would be equipped with tools and lifts specifically designed for motorcycles and ATVs, along with various parts and components relevant to these vehicles. It is common for such shops to have an appearance that reflects the hands-on nature of their work, possibly with a visible display of performance parts or custom builds. While cleanliness and organization are generally maintained for efficiency and safety, the primary emphasis is on technical capability and workspace utility rather than a pristine showroom. The atmosphere would likely be geared towards enthusiasts, reflecting a passion for performance and off-road riding. The customer reception area, though not extensively described, would be the point of contact for drop-offs, pick-ups, and discussions regarding service needs.
The services offered by DTR Racing revolve around the mechanical and performance aspects of motorcycles, ATVs, and dirt bikes. Based on the customer reviews, their services appear to include:
- General Repairs and Maintenance: This would encompass a wide range of basic mechanical fixes, troubleshooting, and routine servicing for various makes and models of powersports vehicles. Examples mentioned include carb rebuilds and addressing issues with brakes and wheel bearings.
- Performance Upgrades and Tuning: The name "DTR Racing" suggests a focus on performance, and customer comments about "getting a killer banshee tuned up right" and "gain some hp" support this. This would involve engine tuning, exhaust system modifications, suspension adjustments, and other enhancements aimed at improving vehicle performance.
- Parts Installation: Installing new components, whether they are replacement parts or aftermarket upgrades like exhaust systems, shocks, cables, and specific types of tires (e.g., sand tires).
- Diagnostics: Identifying underlying issues that affect vehicle performance or safety, as evidenced by discussions around wheel bearings and engine functionality.
- Custom Fabrication/Welding: The mention of charging for welding an exhaust suggests they have the capability for some custom fabrication or repair work.
It is important to note that the provided customer reviews offer a mixed perspective on the execution and transparency of these services.
The features of DTR Racing, as gathered from the provided information, are primarily their specialization in motorcycles, ATVs, and dirt bikes, and their purported expertise in performance tuning. The positive aspect from one review suggests that they are capable of delivering "Great service and helpful knowledge" for specific performance enhancements, such as "the big 3" upgrades (often referring to intake, exhaust, and fuel management for horsepower gains). This indicates a capability for high-level performance work when executed successfully.
However, a significant portion of the customer feedback highlights concerning features and experiences. These include:
- Extended Service Times: Vehicles sitting "for months for very minimal repairs and upgrades" suggests potential delays in service.
- High Charges for Minimal Work: Customers reported being "charged such a high amount just to be told first quad is done-700 and it wasn't" and "Paid thousands just to have a bike that feels like it'd throw me off still." There are accusations of charges "getting way up there without telling me continuously for no good reason."
- Lack of Transparency and Consent for Parts: "Added parts without consent" is a serious concern, where new cables, wheel bearings, and other expensive components were allegedly purchased and added without the customer's prior approval.
- Questionable Diagnostic and Repair Quality: Examples include leaving a bent wheel "because it matched" despite the customer bringing other wheels, not bleeding "non existent brakes," and misdiagnosing battery issues to sell a "spendy one of his." One review mentions "work wasn't honored after the engine quit working, I think seized up after first run onto the beach," indicating potential issues with the quality and reliability of repairs.
- Disregard for Customer Instructions: A customer specifically asked for their Yoshimura exhaust to be reinstalled but was charged for welding and parts only to be told "we realized pipe on the bike has more flow" and it wasn't installed as requested. The term "Full of purposeful confusion" is used.
- Subpar Parts Used/Installed: "300 for used Leaky old front shocks" and "Mismatched front headlight" point to the use of potentially low-quality or incompatible parts.
- Perceived Overcharging and Exploitation: The overall sentiment from the negative reviews is feeling "very taken advantage of" and that the shop "Just see you have money and try to overcharge you."
- Inconsistent Customer Satisfaction: The reviews clearly show a dichotomy, with one very positive experience ("Great service and helpful knowledge. Would recommend to anyone wanting to gain some hp") contrasting sharply with multiple highly negative experiences. This suggests inconsistency in service delivery or a specific specialization that works well for some, but not for others.
Regarding promotional information, no specific details are provided in the given text. However, businesses like DTR Racing might typically use various methods to attract customers, especially those interested in powersports. These could include:
- Social Media Marketing: Showcasing custom builds, performance upgrades, or successful repair projects on platforms popular with motorcycle and ATV enthusiasts.
- Local Event Sponsorships: Sponsoring local races, rides, or powersports events to build brand recognition within the community.
- Online Listings and Reviews: Maintaining a presence on Google Maps, Yelp, and other review platforms, which is where the provided customer feedback would be found.
- Word-of-Mouth Referrals: For specialized shops, word-of-mouth is a powerful form of promotion, though the mixed reviews indicate this could be a double-edged sword for DTR Racing.
- Service Packages: Offering bundled services for common maintenance or performance upgrades at a set price.
- Parts Sales: Promoting specific performance parts or accessories they stock.
Given the nature of the negative reviews, DTR Racing might focus on addressing customer service and transparency issues to improve their reputation and attract more consistent positive feedback, which would itself be a form of promotion.
In summary, DTR Racing at 1810 Commercial St NE, Salem, OR, is an "Auto Repair Station" specializing in motorcycles, ATVs, and dirt bikes, offering general repairs, maintenance, and performance tuning. While capable of delivering high-horsepower upgrades, the business has received significant customer feedback indicating issues with service duration, pricing transparency, unauthorized part additions, and the quality and honoring of repairs. This mixed reputation suggests that potential customers should exercise diligence, perhaps by obtaining detailed quotes and clear communication regarding all work and parts before authorizing repairs. Their contact numbers are (503) 589-1300 and +1 503-589-1300.

DTR Racing Customer Reviews
I was super stoked coming in here at first. Brought some old beat up quads and dirt bike I wanted to get by with for the year. Thought man I could spend some serious money here and get a killer banshee tuned up right. I feel very taken advantage of now though. They all sat in there for months for very minimal repairs and upgrades. I did say I wasn't in a hurry but to be charged such a high amount just to be told first quad is done-700 and it wasn't was upsetting. Paid thousands just to have a bike that feels like it'd throw me off still. Been rolled multiple times, tore up. They said wheel bearings weren't issue that I thought and just left bent wheel "because it matched" even though I said I dont care and brought in other wheels. Didnt bleed the non existent brakes. Said you got a brother to help you said? Over 500 each in the old 88 suzuki 250 and 90s kawi 650. Only wanted carb rebuilt on suzuki quadrunner 250.. said they were about to put it on Dino then it's done... WHAT?! Neither atv or dirt bike was worth 500. Added parts without consent. I called in to check up a couple times and had to stop them because charges were getting way up there without telling me continuously for no good reason. They bought new cables and wheel bearings for dirt bike that i didnt know it needed... Told me my battery wouldn't work on suzuki without giving it more than a glance that I bought specifically for it to just sell me a spendy one of his... makes me literally sick working so hard for not even half ass work. Some people I talk to say they used to be good but now just live off the name. Haven't heard any current good views on this place. Theres multiple reveiws with same issues I've had. One guy I heard through family says work wasn't honored after the engine quit working, I think seized up after first run onto the beach. Just see you have money and try to overcharge you. Trying to be your buddy and make everything seem ok. I wish I would've just bought one new bike feeling like i got something for my almost 3k lost. My raptor has an illegal exaust now. Wanted them to put my yoshamira back on. They charged me to have it welded, buy all the parts but failed to put it on cause "we realized pipe on the bike has more flow" NOT what I asked them to do. Full of purposeful confusion. 300 for used Leaky old front shocks. I brought my old stock one saying I'd like just one if can be found. Didnt care what color. Mismatched front headlight... so unhappy. They couldn't easily figure out a proper sand tire for rear of kawasaki so put a new nobbie on back. Got another shop that quickly found it...

Jake, and Matt rock they know their business! Took my raptor in and it grew up to be a man killer when it came out. Thing ran faster than a drug mule hauling 50lbs of cocaine running from the cops. I have never ridden a quad like what they did. Clean work. Excellent customer service, and I love that his show room isnt full of merch but real parts! Like hey I need a carb rebuild kit for a 2010 450yfz here you go. Real parts real service REAL HAPPY! Thank you guys!

This shop told someone that they needed a rebuild on their quads engine, tore the engine down without authorization and then dumped it. Not acceptable.
