Detroit Axle Introduce
Detroit Axle, located at 2000 Eight Mile W, Ferndale, MI 48220, USA, operates as a prominent auto parts store. While the category provided is "Auto Repair Stations," it is important to note from the context of the reviews that Detroit Axle primarily functions as a supplier of automotive parts, rather than a service center performing repairs. This distinction is crucial, as their business model revolves around selling components for vehicles, which customers or other repair shops would then install. The customer reviews, which are the sole source of information provided, paint a largely negative picture regarding various aspects of their operations, particularly customer service and product management.
Environment of the Auto Parts Store: As an auto parts store, Detroit Axle's physical environment at 2000 Eight Mile W, Ferndale, MI, would typically consist of a warehouse or a retail front with a substantial inventory of automotive components. Given the nature of the complaints, it's likely that a significant portion of their business operates online, involving packaging and shipping of parts. The reviews do not offer specific details about the cleanliness, organization, or in-store customer experience, but the issues raised about packaging and incorrect parts suggest potential inefficiencies or problems within their inventory management and shipping departments, which are integral to the environment of an auto parts supplier. The location on Eight Mile Road indicates a commercial or industrial setting, common for such businesses.
Services and Goods for Sale: Detroit Axle's primary offering is the sale of automotive parts. Based on the customer reviews, these include:
-
Front End Kits: One customer explicitly mentions ordering a "front end kit," which typically includes various suspension and steering components necessary for the front axle assembly of a vehicle. This suggests they sell comprehensive kits for common automotive repairs.
-
Brake Rotors: The mention of a "SureStop brake rotor box used as packing material" implies that they handle and sell brake components, including rotors, even if the specific brand mentioned was used incorrectly as packing.
-
Rack and Pinion Assemblies: Another customer ordered a "rack and pinion" for their vehicle. This is a crucial steering system component, indicating that Detroit Axle supplies significant drivetrain and steering parts.
-
Various Heavy Suspension Components: The complaint about "so many heavy suspension components into one box" further confirms their offering of a wide range of suspension parts.
While a full catalog is not available from the provided data, it is evident that Detroit Axle specializes in providing replacement parts for various automotive systems, often bundled into kits or sold individually. Their business model likely involves a mix of online sales and possibly a physical pickup option at their Ferndale location, though the reviews focus on the challenges of their online/delivery service.
Features and Customer Experience: The provided customer reviews highlight several significant negative features and challenges associated with Detroit Axle's operations, particularly concerning their customer service and product handling:
-
Poor Customer Service: This is the most prevalent and severe complaint. Customers describe the customer service as "a joke," "absolutely the worst customer service I’ve ever dealt with," and characterize representatives as "entitled" and attempting to "make it out like what happened is your fault." The outsourcing of customer service to a "3rd party company" is cited as a major issue, suggesting a disconnect between the company and its customer support. This makes it "really hard to get warranty or replacement parts."
-
Issues with Product Accuracy and Completeness:
- Missing Parts: One customer reported that "parts were missing" from their ordered kit.
- Incorrect Parts Sent: Another customer received an item that "was not the correct part for my vehicle," despite providing the necessary vehicle information.
- Open/Unsealed Packaging: The observation that "several of the clear plastic bags the parts were supposed to be sealed in were open" raises concerns about quality control and whether items are truly new or complete.
-
Unacceptable Packaging Practices: A Ford-certified technician customer noted, "I’ve never seen any company package parts the way that Detroit Axle did with my front end kit." The complaint specifically mentions "so many heavy suspension components into one box" and the use of a "SureStop brake rotor box used as packing material," which is not a brand Detroit Axle sells. This suggests a lack of professional packaging standards, potentially leading to damage during transit or reinforcing suspicions about the origin of parts (e.g., returned items being resold).
-
Difficulties with Warranties and Refunds: Customers report significant struggles in resolving issues, with the company "refusing to accept that the part they sent is the incorrect" and refusing "to issue a refund for a company mistake." This leads to customers being "out of $250 dollars" or having to "request a refund" due to poor treatment, indicating a challenging and uncooperative warranty and returns process.
-
Potential Resale of Returned/Used Parts: The use of a non-Detroit Axle branded box as packing material and the observation of open bags led one customer to "think they sent me parts someone else returned," raising serious concerns about product integrity and whether customers are receiving new, unblemished components.
Promotional Information: Based solely on the provided customer reviews, there is no positive promotional information to share. Instead, the feedback serves as a cautionary tale for potential buyers. The reviews effectively act as negative promotional material, strongly advising against purchasing from Detroit Axle due to widespread issues.
- The overarching message from customers is "Don’t order anything from them" and "Buyers beware!"
- The primary "promotional" aspect derived from these reviews is a warning about "the worst customer service I’ve ever dealt with."
- Concerns about product quality, accuracy, and returns processes are highlighted as significant deterrents.
In conclusion, Detroit Axle, located at 2000 Eight Mile W, Ferndale, MI, primarily functions as an auto parts store, supplying various vehicle components such as front-end kits, brake rotors, and rack and pinion assemblies. However, the available customer feedback from the Internet indicates severe and consistent issues across multiple facets of their operation. Customers report highly unsatisfactory experiences with outsourced customer service, leading to significant difficulties in processing warranties, replacements, or refunds. Furthermore, recurring problems include the receipt of incorrect, missing, or inadequately packaged parts, with suspicions raised about the resale of returned or unsealed items. These pervasive negative experiences strongly advise potential buyers to exercise extreme caution when considering Detroit Axle for their automotive part needs. The contact number provided is (888) 583-0255 and +1 888-583-0255, though customers imply that attempts to resolve issues via these channels may be met with frustration.

Detroit Axle Customer Reviews
Don’t order anything from them, really hard to get warranty or replacement parts when the customer service is a joke. Absolutely the worst customer service I’ve ever dealt with. Detroit Axle needs to bring their customer service back to the United States because the 3rd party company they outsourced to provide it is not representing them well. I’ve never spoken to a more entitled group of people or to a customer service representative that tries to make it out like what happened is your fault. I ended up just requesting a refund because of how bad the customer service treated me. I am an Army veteran that was a Ford certified technician before I joined. I’ve never seen any company package parts the way that Detroit Axle did with my front end kit. I also have never seen a company place so many heavy suspension components into one box. The reason I return the kit I ordered originally is because parts were missing and several of the clear plastic bags the parts were supposed to be sealed in were open. There was also a SureStop brake rotor box used as packing material. That is not a brand Detroit Axle sells and it makes me think they sent me parts someone else returned. I can’t believe they’re still in business.

Buyers beware! I ordered a rack and pinion for my 2003 Infiniti M45 while on deployment. When I returned to the states and went to install the part I noticed the item was not the correct part for my vehicle. After coordinations with the Amazon seller who recommended I call Detroit Axle to get the issue resolved, I did so and came out with no resolution. The company is refusing to accept that the part they sent is the incorrect and they are also requiring me to send in my core to do a warranty exchange which I understand but it doesn't resolve the initial issue of the part being incorrect. I'm currently out of $250 dollars due to them refusing to issue a refund for a company mistake. Please be careful with this buyer and the company.

Excellent Equipment, great communication, integrity and quality! I ordered for the first time with Detroit Axle online. I've dealt with lackluster braking and warped rotors on my Nissan Armada for several years. I've tried 6 different brands/combinations but I've finally found the right combination: I do get a little brake dust that requires cleaning the rims every 1.5-2 weeks but that was disclosed on the website and it is well worth the excellent performance! The install was easy, the equipment is extremely well made. Mine were machined after ordering and the shipping was fast. UPS damaged one of the boxes and the response from Detroit Axle was fast and professional. Quick replacements were sent and they made it right even though it wasn't their fault. Thanks for the integrity and great customer service. I will continue to buy for all of my fleet and recommend. Can't go wrong here.

DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY! I made the mistake in trusting a close mechanic/friend in ordering brake kits from this company. First it took longer than the stated days to be delivered. Then when installed, my brand new brakes started to act up and felt like I didn't have new ones on. Found out the driver side rotor hub is completely damaged. Called customer service and waited for 45-1hr on the phone before I got a representative. It was very difficult to understand the representative because of their thick accent. He was also very rude and condescending. He wanted me to send him stuff to their messaging system and I informed them that none of their online help customer contact were working so he texted me to send him info there. I had to write a letter requesting a replacement and the reason why. Then pictures... thankfully I took some when they were being replaced. Then he said he needed a certified mechanic letter telling them that what is shown on the pictures are indeed real. Umm what? I said I just want a replacement and will send the defective one back to them he said no we don't need that. In end he said it will be sent out 2 business days. I texted him for a tracking email and was told to text him tomorrow and he'll get that information to me. Umm... it was only 8am cst... 9am est in America but since he's from the other side of the world it was already night time. x.x I am nervous nothing was done. I didn't receive a confirmation email or a dialog email.

First time purchasing from Detroit Axle and it won't be my last! In addition to their more than fair prices, the quality of the rotors and pads have been nothing short of excellence. The main reason for leaving the review is the customer service has been top notch. Initially I ordered the rotors and pads online. After placing the order I noticed that I had missed out on a coupon, I reached out and without question they applied the coupon and credited my account. Once I received the rotors and pads everything was great except I had accidently received two right rear slotted and drilled rotors. When I reached out to them, they promptly responded requesting some vehicle information. I waited a few weeks as it had skipped my mind and once I replied a few days later I received a package with the correct rotor. No hassle process for an affordable great product... can't ask for anything more. Extremely happy with my purchase and plan to purchase again from Detroit Axle!
