CRT Transmissions Inc Introduce

For local vehicle owners, especially those with specific transmission concerns or a passion for performance vehicles, CRT Transmissions Inc stands as a highly specialized and respected "Auto Repair Station." Located in Lowell, Indiana, CRT Transmissions has carved out a niche as a leading expert in transmission services, with a notable focus on Mopar transmissions and high-performance racing applications. This specialization sets them apart from general auto repair shops, making them a go-to destination for complex driveline issues and custom build requirements.

Environment and Customer Experience

The environment at CRT Transmissions Inc is characterized by a strong dedication to craftsmanship and technical expertise. While it is a specialized shop, customer reviews often highlight a friendly and approachable atmosphere. Clients appreciate the direct communication and transparency offered by the team. John Cope, often mentioned as the sole builder of transmissions at CRT, ensures a high level of quality control, and this dedication translates into the customer experience. Customers report feeling that their concerns are genuinely listened to, and that the explanations provided regarding complex transmission issues are clear and understandable. The focus is on finding the correct solution, rather than simply replacing an entire unit, which often leads to cost savings and greater satisfaction. For performance enthusiasts, the environment is particularly appealing, as the staff understands the intricacies of high-power applications and custom builds. The facility itself, an 8000 square foot space, is equipped to handle all aspects of transmission work, from intricate bench builds to full vehicle installations, ensuring a professional setting for specialized repairs.

Comprehensive Services Offered

As a highly specialized "Auto Repair Station" within the transmission category, CRT Transmissions Inc offers a focused yet comprehensive range of services, particularly for Mopar vehicles and performance applications:

  • Custom Transmission Builds: This is a core specialization, where they build transmissions from stock configurations all the way up to full race specifications. Their expertise covers a wide range of needs, ensuring transmissions are optimized for specific vehicle performance requirements.

  • Mopar-Specific Transmissions: CRT Transmissions is particularly renowned for its deep knowledge and exclusive focus on Mopar transmissions. This includes models like the 727, 904, 518 (46RE), and 47/48RE. They are equipped to handle rebuilds, modifications, and upgrades for these units.

  • Transmission Installation Services: Beyond building transmissions, they provide complete in-house installation services for all the products they sell. This ensures proper fitment and integration into the vehicle.

  • Torque Converter Sales and Installation: They offer a range of torque converters, including lock-up options, and provide expert installation services to optimize driveline performance.

  • Performance Driveline Components: This includes a variety of high-performance parts such as billet front drums, bolt-in sprags, planetary gear sets, bands, and clutch and steel plates, all designed to enhance durability and performance for racing and high-horsepower applications.

  • SFI Approved Safety Shields: For racing applications, they emphasize the importance of SFI approved safety shields, recommending and often installing components like billet front drums to prevent catastrophic failures.

  • Engine Swaps and Integration (e.g., Gen 3 Hemi): With an 8000 square foot facility and skilled crew, CRT Transmissions can handle complex projects, including installing Gen 3 Hemi engines into various vehicles and integrating them with their custom transmissions, such as a 518 overdrive transmission with a low gear set.

  • Diagnostics and Inspection: While specialized, they offer diagnosis to identify transmission issues. They also emphasize inspection for damage to sprags and transmission cases if driveline components like driveshafts or U-joints break.

  • Technical Resources: They provide valuable technical information, including video guides on valve body installation or transmission swaps, demonstrating their commitment to educating and assisting their clientele.

  • Parts Sales: In addition to full transmissions, they sell a wide range of individual transmission parts, rebuild kits, and performance components.

The technical staff, particularly John Cope, is noted for their extensive experience and unwavering commitment to quality, often personally handling or overseeing every build to maintain stringent quality control.

Promotional Information and Specials

While CRT Transmissions Inc's primary promotion stems from its strong reputation for quality and specialization, they also engage in various forms of promotion, particularly around their products and capabilities. Specific, broadly advertised "specials" in the traditional sense (like discount coupons) might be less frequent than a general auto repair shop, given their niche market. However, their promotional efforts include:

  • Highlighting Unique Products: They prominently feature their custom-built transmissions, torque converters, and specialized performance parts on their website and through technical resources. This showcases their unique offerings.

  • Showcasing Capabilities: Information about their ability to install components, perform engine swaps, and handle complex projects (like the 1966 Ford F-100 shop truck with a modern Hemi) serves as a strong testament to their expertise and promotes their service capabilities.

  • Technical Information and Video Content: Providing valuable technical videos and articles on their website acts as a promotional tool, demonstrating their knowledge and offering helpful resources to their target audience of automotive enthusiasts and mechanics.

  • Testimonials and Customer Reviews: Positive customer experiences and glowing testimonials, particularly highlighting their honesty, quality, and timely service, are a powerful form of promotion, building trust and attracting new clients.

  • Direct Engagement: Given their specialized nature, much of their promotion might occur through direct inquiries, word-of-mouth within car communities (especially Mopar and racing circles), and participation in relevant events or online forums. They invite direct contact for product inquiries and service needs.

  • Quality Assurance: The implicit promise of "100% quality control" and building every transmission personally by John Cope serves as a significant promotional assurance of durability and performance, especially for customers investing in high-end or racing components.

  • Merchandise: Offering branded merchandise like banners for garages or shops subtly promotes their brand within the enthusiast community.

For the most current information on products, services, or any specific offerings, interested local users are encouraged to visit the CRT Transmissions Inc website or contact them directly. Their reputation as a dedicated, honest, and expert transmission specialist remains their strongest promotional asset.

Very rude..was going to spend $2500 on parts. Answered the phone saying "I'm going to regret picking up the phone on a Saturday" I asked him rookie questions and got laughed at. Then told me I had 30 seconds till the call ended, cause he was making videos. He talked down to me and laughed at my intentions for the build. Maybe I called him after his dog died....who knows.. but hes old man cranky and wont get my business. Ever! Hopefully YouTube will make him the money he needs for the customers he loses.

Warning about this man first of all when you call him if you can get ahold of the company or he calls you back he's right away arrogant and very rude he tells you just make the order online I asked him about expedite shipping I was needing it fairly soon he said oh you don't want to do that it's so expensive I wasn't worried about that but apparently that made him mad for some reason so I called him back the next day I was very cordial with him he he proceeded with his negative terrible attitude then hung up on me then I found out he just canceled the order because he must have felt like I was just bothering him asking him simple questions I guess that's okay and a blessing because a lot of people apparently have been having multiple problems with this man and come to find out he copies most of all his work and I'm in a lot of mopar clubs and I operate at a high level and I keep a good business attitude and I don't treat people like he does found out last night from a few other racers that most of his stuff is just copied junk anyway also because of the way that he operates myself and other people that have had bad dealings with John cope will be in touch with the better Business bureau and other agencies due to the way he does business and treats individuals

Spent $3500 on TF727 trans parts with this business. Honestly a disheartening conversation with nothing but condescending and rather enlightening View of who John Cope really is..
