Country Tire & Wheel Introduce

Country Tire & Wheel, situated at 7118 Rosedale Hwy, Bakersfield, CA 93308, USA, operates as an Auto Repair Station with a distinct focus on tire and wheel services, alongside broader automotive repairs. Customers can reach them at (661) 589-2893 or +1 661-589-2893 for appointments or inquiries. While the name highlights "Tire & Wheel," the classification as an "Auto Repair Station" implies they offer a wider range of automotive services, which is corroborated by the provided customer feedback. It's also worth noting that online information suggests that Country Tire & Wheel at this address is currently operating as Southern Tire Mart, implying a potential change in ownership or branding. However, for the purpose of this introduction, we will focus on the information provided regarding "Country Tire & Wheel."

The environment at Country Tire & Wheel would typically be a bustling automotive service center. Given its specialization in tires and wheels, one would expect a clean and organized showroom displaying a variety of tires and custom wheels. The workshop area would be equipped with tire mounting and balancing machines, alignment racks, and bays for general automotive repair, such as brake jobs. The atmosphere in such a facility is generally practical and focused on efficient service delivery. However, customer experiences suggest variability in the waiting area environment, with one reviewer noting a lack of mask-wearing by other customers during the pandemic, indicating a potentially relaxed approach to certain public health protocols at the time of that review. This suggests that while the focus is on vehicle service, the customer-facing environment might vary.

The services offered by Country Tire & Wheel encompass a range of automotive needs, heavily skewed towards tires and wheels. These include, but are not limited to:

  • Tire Sales and Installation: Offering a variety of new tires, including different brands and types (e.g., all-season, all-terrain, snow tires). They also provide tire mounting and balancing services.
  • Wheel Sales and Service: Providing custom wheels and related services.
  • Tire Maintenance: This includes tire rotations, flat tire repair, and TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System) service.
  • Brake Services: As indicated by a customer review, they perform brake jobs, including the replacement of brake pads.
  • General Auto Repair: Beyond tires and brakes, other auto repair services are likely offered, aligning with the "Auto Repair Stations" category. These might include oil changes, basic diagnostics, and other routine maintenance, though specifics beyond tires and brakes are not provided in the reviews.

It is important to note that the depth and quality of these services can be a point of contention, as indicated by the mixed customer feedback.

The features of Country Tire & Wheel are best understood through the contrasting experiences of its customers.

One customer had an exceptionally positive experience, highlighting several key features:

  • Customer-Centric Approach: The gentleman on the phone "wanted to help me get what would fit my driving needs rather than just selling me the highest costing thing." This indicates a focus on genuine customer needs over aggressive upselling, a highly valued trait in auto repair.
  • Competitive Pricing: The customer found "the cheapest tires I've bought for myself in 15 years," stating they "never thought I'd pay less than $150-200 per tire and this place blew it out of the park." This suggests a strong competitive edge in tire pricing.
  • Exceptional Efficiency and Accommodation: They were able to get the customer "in within an hour" without an appointment and even "brought tires over from their other shop to accommodate me." This speaks to their operational agility and commitment to quick service.
  • Added Value Service: The staff "listened to me by taking the best tire I had and putting it on my spare tire thingy. They didn't have to do that." This indicates a willingness to go the extra mile for customer satisfaction.
  • Speed of Service: The customer was "in and out in under 50 minutes," demonstrating remarkable efficiency.
  • Professional and Friendly Staff: The customer described the experience as "lovely, fast and professional."

Conversely, a highly negative review paints a very different picture, outlining serious concerns:

  • Allegations of Overcharging/Rip-off: The customer claimed the "Oildale store ripped me off on brake job," stating they were quoted $200 for brakes but only front brakes were installed.
  • Incomplete or Faulty Work: The customer found "scratches on bv boot" after the service, implying negligence or damage during the repair.
  • Lack of Transparency: The situation escalated when the shop allegedly "takes off the price of the brake pads i never had," which sounds like a deceptive billing practice. This, combined with the "scratches," led to a strong "RIPOFF" sentiment.

These wildly divergent reviews suggest that while some customers experience exceptional service, others encounter significant issues, particularly regarding transparency and the quality or completeness of repairs. This dual nature is a crucial feature for potential customers to consider.

Given the mixed, yet detailed, customer feedback, promotional information for Country Tire & Wheel (or Southern Tire Mart, if that is its current operational name) would need to carefully navigate both the positives and negatives.

To attract customers based on their strong positive features, they could highlight:

  • "Bakersfield's Best Deals on Tires!": Emphasizing their competitive pricing, as evidenced by the customer who found "the cheapest tires in 15 years."
  • "Fast & Friendly Service – Get Your Tires Installed in Under an Hour!": Promoting their efficiency and accommodating nature, including same-day or quick turnaround times and their ability to source tires from other locations.
  • "Customer-Focused Tire & Auto Experts: We Help You Choose What's Right for You, Not Just the Most Expensive.": Stressing their non-commissioned, helpful sales approach.
  • "Beyond Tires: Reliable Brake Service and More!": Broadening their appeal beyond just tires to their general auto repair capabilities.

However, to address the negative feedback and build overall trust, especially if they are indeed the same entity that received the "RIPOFF" review (or if potential customers associate them with that experience), they should also consider:

  • Guaranteed Transparent Pricing: Implementing and promoting a policy of clear, upfront quotes and explaining all charges before work begins.
  • Workmanship Guarantee: Offering a warranty on all repairs and parts to address concerns about faulty or incomplete work.
  • Commitment to Customer Satisfaction: Publicly stating a pledge to resolve any customer issues promptly and fairly.
  • Cleanliness and Care: Emphasizing that vehicles are handled with care to prevent scratches or other damage during service.
  • Compliance with Health Guidelines: If relevant, reassuring customers about adherence to current health and safety protocols within the waiting area and shop.

Ultimately, Country Tire & Wheel (or Southern Tire Mart) has the potential to attract customers through its competitive tire pricing and highly efficient, customer-oriented service, but it must actively work to build consistent trust and transparency across all service offerings to overcome any past negative perceptions.

I had a wonderful experience with them, one of the best experiences I've had when having to deal with my car. First when I called the gentleman was so kind. It seemed he wanted to help me get what would fit my driving needs rather than just selling me the highest costing thing. Second, these were definitely the cheapest tires I've bought for myself in 15 years. Perhaps it's because I lived in the snow, and snow tires are always pricey, but now living in Bakersfield I can have cheaper tires. Whatever it is, I never thought I'd pay less than $150-200 per tire and this place blew it out of the park. Third, when I called, I called to make an appointment, expecting to wait and go around their schedule. They literally got me in within an hour and brought tires over from their other shop to accommodate me. Incredible! Fourth, I was only buying two tires but they listened to me by taking the best tire I had and putting it on my spare tire thingy. They didn't have to do that. Fifth, I was in and out in under 50 minutes. My only complaint (and this isn't really on them but more customer) is that there were customers walking in and out and waiting without a mask on. I have my own business so I definitely understand the struggle of trying to abide by the mask policy but also not wanting to make other customers mad and lose their business. In the future (if the pandemic is still going on) I'll probably wait outside or get a friend to come hang out with me in their car or to do some errands instead of staying in a building with other guys not wearing masks. Overall though I would recommend this place 11/10 rating and I had a lovely, fast and professional experience.

I used their service of oil change with multiple point inspection several times. I do not think they check all the points now. Before they provided a checklist, but now they do not. I believe they only change oil and just tell you that everything is good. Totally not responsible. If I only need oil change, why I need to pay so high in your store? After oil change in this store last time, I drove to a place 2 hours away from Bakersfield and found the car could not be started properly. I drove to OReily right away and the battery test showed bad (one terminal totally corroded, liquid leaking heavily on the tray). I want to leave a message to the owner of this store: your dishonesty maybe can save your time and earn more, however, it could make your customers stranded on road. When you are getting old, please think about what you did or your employees did to your customers. Feel happy or guilty? I will not come back to this store anymore. Also, I think it's the time to think about learning the basic inspection skills myself. Maybe I was too naive.

We were traveling through Bakersfield in our motorhome when we smelled something burning inside. We pulled over, made several phone calls, and finally came upon Country Tire. They said bring it on in. Their mechanic diagnosed the problem almost immediately, fixed it, and we were on our way. Very grateful to have found them.

Fair prices and friendly staff. Stopped in for an A/C check and estimate on my wife's car. The work was completed far below the dealer estimated quote. I will recommend Country Tire & Wheel to family and friends.
