Costco Tire Center

Terrible. They couldn't repair my tired after 2 hours of waiting and told me I needed to buy 4 new tires. I went to America's Tire afterwards for a second opinion and they fixed it for free and said the hole was tiny.

Unprofessional customer service. I can’t speak for all the employees at the tire center, but the brunette employee with the nose piercing who assisted me was extremely rude and seemed to be very angry about something. I needed a minor tire repair because there was air leaking from one of my tires. I bought my tires from Costco, but he still charged me despite being protected by the warranty. I tried talking to another employee about the warranty coverage, but everyone seemed to be busy. I let the charge go, and decided I will find a better tire center to go to with professional customer service.

John told me he could ship me a certain 12V battery from another Costco, as they didn't have one in stock. I gave him my phone number and he said he would call me in a couple weeks when they get it delivered to the shop. I never got a call. I called the store several times that week, and every time either they would hang up or their phone would keep ringing. What kind of car repair/tire shop doesn't answer their phones? I decided to drive to the shop because I couldn't get a hold of them over the phone. Two different employees said they don't ship batteries from other Costcos. I waited 3 weeks for nothing. John's customer service was quite poor from the beginning as well. He was not friendly and was acting like he was drunk or high, almost seemed to be falling asleep to be honest. He didn't understand what I was telling him, and it took him forever to look things up on his computer. In my experience of coming to this shop 4-5 times, no one seems competent here. Considering that I wouldn't trust them with my car and that they have a poor selection of 12V batteries and tires (as do all Costcos), I am not coming back to any Costco tire shop. America's Tire on Avery has been perfect to me for 20 years.

Overall the experience was good. I was prepared with information on the tires I wanted so the purchase went smoothly. The gentleman who took my order was professional, courteous and understood that I knew what I wanted and didn't bother with unnecessary explanations other than the warranty information; which, by the way, is excellent! I would have given five stars but the wait time was atrocious. The gentleman said it would be an hour and a half. It was almost three hours before he handed me the keys! Occasionally, I looked into the service bay to ascertain the progress. It was painfully slow! Apparently, the service technician was training a new person and that slowed down EVERYTHING! From the time they took the car into the service bay to the time the drove it out, it was, as I said, almost three hours. Even with a trainee in tow, it should not take three hours to remove and mount four tires. I will return and buy tires from Costco and I will recommend them to anyone. However, anyone buying tires here had better be prepared to wait a while!

Don’t expect courtesy or customer service from the manager here. I had a flat needed to have the car towed. They don’t answer their phone so can’t get any info in advance. I have the car towed and write out the name, member number and our phone numbers on a full sheet of paper on the dash. Hours later they finally answer their phone. They haven’t looked at it or even thought about it. If I had not finally reached them they would have probably just ignored it and closed for the night. Then to make it worse, they won’t do anything over the phone. No they insist I have to come down in person to “give them permission to work on the car”. Apparently the written instructions don’t work. Plus it will then take hours to fix so they are happy to waste their customers time coming, then either sitting there for hours or leaving and having to come back again. Talking to the manager was a waste. “People usually come with their car”. “We can’t get permission over the phone.” “We can’t take payment over the phone.” Any other mechanic would take care of it and have you sign and pay when you came to pick up the car. I know Costco is supposed to mean cheap, but it doesn’t have to mean terrible customer service and aggressive ignorance. But that’s what you’ll get from the manager. I can’t blame the other guys, they are just doing what they are told. I’ll pay a few bucks more and go somewhere, ANYWHERE else in the future.
