I recently had some repairs done on my E350 Mercedes at Independent Mercedes of Carlsbad, including work on the control arm, brakes, motor mounts, and electronic ignition. I’m thoroughly impressed with their service! From the start, the team was knowledgeable and professional, quickly diagnosing the issues and providing clear explanations of the necessary repairs. We have been getting service in the Village area since 1997. In the past we went to European Auto on State, mostly good experience but they moved. We started taking our Mercedes, Volvo & VW here. John & Miguel did good work for a while. Unfortunately, our last visit was very bad. Months before John told my wife her brakes on her Mercedes were fine, she returned a couple months later because they were making noise. Then John told her she needs new rotors & pads... She asked him, why didn't you tell me when I was here just 2 months ago. They went back & forth about it & then John started ranting and raving that Mexicans need to go back to Mexico! This was the final straw. John needs help in dealing with fellow human beings. My wife defended Mexicans - although born in LA, her parents are Mexican immigrants - and finally told him, I just want my brakes fixed, you told me they were fine only a couple months ago. He did not admit his mistake and she finally left. We will never go back to this place because: 1. They did not fix the pads when they could have, we were stuck with doing both rotors & pads - costing us 150% more. 2. There is no need to attack & disparage Mexicans. Especially directly to a Latina & when your business is in The Barrio of Carlsbad - the area founded by Mexican migrants over a century ago It is time for John to join the 21st century and treat their clients with respect and not attack an American ethnic group, especially during these more challenging times. Just admit when you make a mistake, do not attack clients ethnicity and just do your job!

We have been doing here for a couple of years now & just love the place & service we receive. They will take the car for a test drive if they arent sure what is making a noise & we have always gotten great service from John & the workers. Thanks guys !

John runs a great shop. Honest,up front, and they know their stuff. Cost is much less than a dealership. My wife's 99' c280 has a 145,000 miles on it and she thinks it's running better than at 80,000 miles when she was taking it to a dealership. I highly recommend this shop. The review above was about 4 years ago. As of now, July 2014, my wife's car has 230,000 miles on it. The car is gradually falling apart around the drivetrain. The motor still runs like a top and it shift smooth like it's new. With that many miles we are taking it day by day though:) They've kept it running well and we have chosen which plastic knobs to have replaced and which ones not to along with the headliner which needs to be replaced. My wife decided she's driving that puppy until until it doesn't drive any more!

John is the best! The shop moved right down the street and I like the new location! If I go in for something simple I can walk across the street to Lolas and grab something to eat. I really like how he doesn't try to upsale repairs like the dealers do. If it needs to be done, he will let you know.
