The mission of Big O Tires, as a brand, is deeply rooted in earning customer trust. Founded in 1962 by independent tire dealers who believed in the importance of service, Big O Tires has evolved into a full-fledged franchise network. Their core business model is to "earn customers' trust by selling great products and always standing behind them." The environment at Big O Tires locations, including the Mesa branch, is typically structured to facilitate efficient automotive service while providing a comfortable experience for customers. Expect a clean and organized facility with multiple service bays equipped for tire changes, alignments, brake services, and other general auto repairs. There is usually a dedicated waiting area for customers, often with amenities like Wi-Fi and complimentary beverages, to make the wait more pleasant. The emphasis is on a professional, yet approachable atmosphere, where staff are available to explain services and provide recommendations. The physical layout is designed for streamlined operations, allowing for quick turnaround times, especially for routine services like tire rotations or oil changes.

Big O Tires offers a wide array of services that extend beyond just tires, positioning itself as a comprehensive Auto Repair Station. These services include, but are not limited to:

The features of Big O Tires, particularly at this Mesa location, are a blend of strong customer service, a comprehensive service offering, and occasional inconsistencies. Positive customer reviews highlight excellent customer service, with one customer specifically commending "Steve" for doing a "phenomenal job at customer service" and taking the time to "investigate my issue." This indicates a willingness by some staff members to go the extra mile to resolve customer concerns and build trust. Another long-term customer appreciated the punctuality of service for tire rotations and other maintenance. The availability of services like "Express Lane Tire Service" (no appointments needed) and a "Free Local Shuttle Service" emphasizes convenience for customers. Many customers also praise the quick turnaround times for services like oil changes and tire rotations.

However, there is also critical feedback that points to significant issues, particularly regarding transparency and sales tactics. One detailed negative review describes a situation where a 30-day satisfaction guarantee on new tires was verbally promised over the phone, but then contested by the manager in person, requiring manual notation on the receipt. This led to a perception of "false promises to get your business" and "deception." The reviewer also expressed doubt about whether the tires truly needed replacement, suggesting a pushy sales approach. Another review mentioned being "quite pushy in trying to sell the tires" and questioned why discounts weren't offered upfront. These experiences indicate that while some staff members excel in customer service, there might be inconsistencies in communication regarding promotions and a tendency towards aggressive sales tactics, which can erode customer trust and lead to dissatisfaction.

Big O Tires frequently offers various promotional deals and financing options to attract and retain customers. For the Mesa location at 1150 W Southern Ave, specific promotions include:

  • Tire Rebates and Instant Savings: Regular offers on select brands like Nitto, Cooper, Nexen, Sumitomo, Uniroyal, Bridgestone, Hankook, Goodyear, and Firestone, providing instant savings or mail-in rebates.
  • Oil Change Savings: Often bundled with a free tire rotation.
  • Free A/C Checks: A complimentary inspection of the vehicle's air conditioning system.
  • Brake Savings: Discounts on brake services.
  • Alignment Savings: Often a discount if an alignment is needed after a free check.
  • Multiple Financing Options Available: Providing flexibility for customers to pay for services over time.
  • Free Flat Repair with Tire Purchases: An added value for customers who buy tires from them.
  • Free 22-Point Vehicle Inspection: A comprehensive check-up offered without an appointment.
  • Free Battery & Electrical Check: Ensuring the vehicle's electrical system is healthy.
  • Free 5-Minute Wiper Blade/Bulb Inspection: Quick checks for essential safety components.

In conclusion, Big O Tires at 1150 W Southern Ave in Mesa, AZ, operates as a comprehensive Auto Repair Station, highly specializing in tire sales and services, but also offering a broad spectrum of general automotive maintenance and repairs. They are known for their wide product selection, convenient express services, and frequently available promotions. While individual staff members are capable of providing excellent customer service, there are noted concerns regarding transparency in promotional offers and sales pressure, which customers should be aware of and proactively verify. Despite these potential inconsistencies, their extensive service offerings and commitment to accessibility make them a convenient option for many local vehicle owners.

Big O Tires Customer Reviews

Review started at 1 star. However, Steve over at the store did a phenomenal job at customer service. He put in the legwork and took the time to investigate my issue and above anything that's what I appreciate the most. We were able to resolve this. So seriously, thank you Steve for taking the time, I know were busy but it does make the difference.

I have been coming to this store for past few years, mostly because I bought tires from another Big O store. I came mostly for tire rotation and such. But I always added other car maintenance services on top of that. They were always punctual in time. I went there today because one of my tires was losing air pressure. So, I dropped off the vehicle. They called me in 10 minutes to say that they won't do the patch on the tire because it is really worn off. Over the phone, they offered that if I went for new set of tires from Big O brand, I would get 30-day satisfaction guarantee, i.e. if I am not happy with the tires, I could choose to return those tires for free within 30 days. Just for that reason, I gave a go-ahead. When I went back to the store, I told them that was the only reason I took the decision to say yes and they acknowledged that the 30-day no hassle replacement is true. When I received the bill, I didn't see any mention of 30 day replacement on the receipt. So, I asked one more time. This time the manager says that I have only one day to try these tires. So, I argued and wanted to see it on the receipt. Eventually, he manually wrote "30 day" on the receipt with some initials. I really don't believe that means anything at this time, since the tires are already put on my car. In a nutshell, when they say anything over phone, don't take it at their words. Have something written before making the decision. Today's incident only opened my eyes to know that these guys would go any length to make false promises to get your business. Don't be fooled the way I was!!! With all this deception, now I am doubting if my tires even needed to be replaced at all. Next time, when my car needs new set of tires, definitely a Big NO to Big O. You lost my business, mostly to meet your year end bonus goals. I would put this as a complaint on BBB. Please let me know if you recommend other sites to post reviews

1st time waited 5 hours for a tire rotation. Today, I have a nail in my tire. I am currently sitting for 3 hours. I've watched others come and go that had a nail in their tire. They told me I need a new tire after they looked at it and a half hour prior. Why wait a half hour to tell me that? They had to go grab a tire to replace mine and ask they could say it'll be a bit of a wait. Asked an eta a half an hour ago and they said they were almost here. I've only asked 2 times and it's like I'm bothering them. I will most likely go back to the competitors. I only bought this set of tires due to a special they were running. They are unorganized. Watching through the window is just a stress factor when the employees are standing there dumbfounded for a long time. I will say, there were 3 employees diligently working. The other 3+ .... questionable for sure. If the average wait time of 4 hours for me every time... then it's not good. This was one tire with a nail. Not that busy on Thursday mid morning. Still waiting...... 10:15 - 1:20 so far.

This is by far one of the worst stores to take your car in. I took in my car in for an alignment. Typically, your car is assessed and then they tell you what it needs. And they even provide you with a computerized sheet that states what your car needs. The manager's first thing to do was to charge me $130. And then, once he had charged me, he told me that I needed to change my struts. He wanted to charge me $1,200. And when I asked for the computerized sheet, he told me he could not downloaded. I ended up getting the struts changed on my own, and when I took it back, because my car is still shifting, I was told by another employee that I now needed yet another part. Moreover, the manager proceeded to tell me that even if they were to do the alignment again, it would not make any difference. You should be told exactly what your car needs before they do any work and charge you for it. The manager also told me that because I had work done on my car, how they would no longer honor the warranty. But "he was willing to do it for me even though it would not make a difference" And even though I had spoken to him on the phone before taking my car in, he told me to take it back on another day because they were too busy. When I asked him about why he told me to go on the phone, he told me that things just change. The store was still going to be open for another hour and a half. I get the feeling he just did not want to take my car in, even though he said it would not make any difference. (weird, right?) Lastly, the manager was visually frustrated and annoyed. He was raising his voice at me for a prolonged amount of time. He was rude and belligerent. You would think someone in a leadership position would at the minimum have good customer service. The worst thing is that having taken my car there did not change anything, other than for me to lose money and time. And still don't even have a clear idea of what "other" parts I need for my car. But I find it interesting how they fail to tell me what my car needed before they would do any work so that it would be in optimal conditions. I strongly regret having taken my car to a place that lacks transparency, overall good customer service and guaranteed work. And then imagine dealing with a bad attitude? Worst place ever!

We were in a rush to get to the airport, and we got a nail in our tire. The two gentlemen working at the front desk were super accommodating to help us get it fixed and back on the road quick! I was already impressed and going to leave a good review, but they went one step farther and did not even charge us for the repair! I’ll be coming back to this location for any future tire needs!
