Ben & Nino (JFK Building 180), located at 154-82 134th St, Jamaica, NY 11430, operates within the "Auto Repair Stations" category, although its prominent function, particularly given its proximity to JFK Airport, appears to be towing and roadside assistance, with auto repair services also listed. They can be reached at (718) 339-8500 or via mobile at +1 718-339-8500. It is crucial for potential customers to understand the nature of this establishment, especially considering its strong association with airport towing operations.
The environment of Ben & Nino (JFK Building 180) is directly impacted by its location near John F. Kennedy International Airport, one of the busiest airports in the world. This strategic placement suggests that a significant portion of their business is derived from towing and providing services to vehicles in and around the airport premises. The facility itself would likely consist of a garage capable of handling basic auto repairs, alongside a fleet of tow trucks. Given the nature of airport operations, the area around Building 180 would be highly regulated, and any towing company operating there would be expected to adhere to specific protocols established by the airport authorities. However, based on available public feedback, the interaction between the towing company and airport security or personnel, as well as the immediate towing practices, are points of contention for some individuals.
While the business falls under the "Auto Repair Stations" category, the publicly available information heavily emphasizes its towing services. Therefore, the services provided by Ben & Nino (JFK Building 180) can be broadly categorized as:
- Towing Services: This is a primary service, particularly authorized towing within the JFK Airport area. They are positioned to respond to vehicle emergencies and parking violations in and around the airport. This would include standard towing for breakdowns, accidents, or unauthorized parking. Some reports indicate they utilize advanced towing technology, such as the TowTrack Towing Robot, for damage-free transport of vehicles in challenging situations.
- Roadside Assistance: While not explicitly detailed, standard roadside assistance services often accompany towing operations. This might include jump-starts, tire changes, fuel delivery, or lockout services.
- Auto Repair: As an "Auto Repair Station," they would theoretically offer general vehicle maintenance and repair. This could include services such as:
- Diagnostic services
- Brake repair and service
- Oil changes and routine maintenance
- Tire services (repair, rotation, balancing)
- Battery replacement
- Minor mechanical repairs
The features of Ben & Nino (JFK Building 180), as gleaned from both its stated business and customer reviews, present a mixed picture. On one hand, the company highlights its position as an "authorized JFK towing service" with "more than 30 years of experience," offering "fast, courteous and inexpensive towing." They claim "short arrival time of 30 minutes or less," "honest competitive prices - zero hidden fees," and "friendly and professional service." They also promote their use of advanced towing equipment like the TowTrack Towing Robot for "damage-free towing & transport solutions." The operation is stated to be 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, which is a crucial feature for an airport-adjacent towing service.
On the other hand, a critical feature that emerges from customer feedback is the highly aggressive and allegedly predatory nature of their towing practices, particularly around JFK Airport. Customers describe instances where vehicles were immediately targeted for towing, even when the driver was present or momentarily stepping away. Specific complaints highlight:
- Alleged Collusion with Airport Security: Customers report a perception of immediate tow truck calls when a vehicle is momentarily left unattended, suggesting a profit-sharing arrangement.
- Lack of Warning: Drivers claim no warning is given before towing attempts, even when they are in direct proximity to their running vehicles.
- Demanding Immediate Cash Payment: Reports indicate drivers are coerced into paying $50 on the spot to prevent their vehicle from being fully towed, regardless of the legitimacy of the parking infraction.
- Aggressive and Unprofessional Demeanor: Customer reviews frequently mention tow truck drivers having a "terrible" or "disgusting" attitude, showing disregard for potential vehicle damage (e.g., towing AWD cars improperly) and refusing to release vehicles without immediate payment.
- Lack of Oversight/Recourse: Customers express frustration over a perceived lack of oversight on the towing company's actions and difficulty in resolving disputes, with even supervisors reportedly being unhelpful. The Better Business Bureau (BBB) profile for Ben & Nino Auto Repair Inc. indicates it is "NOT BBB Accredited" and has a history of "Failure to respond to 5 complaint(s) filed against business" out of 9 total complaints, further reinforcing concerns about customer dispute resolution.
Given the significant negative feedback regarding their towing practices, any promotional information from Ben & Nino (JFK Building 180) should be viewed through the lens of these customer experiences. While their own website and marketing might emphasize reliability, speed, and professionalism for their towing services, aiming to attract those in urgent need of roadside assistance or airport-related towing, these claims are directly contradicted by numerous public complaints. Typical promotional messages from a towing and auto repair company might include:
- 24/7 Availability: Highlighting their round-the-clock service, essential for airport operations.
- "Authorized JFK Towing Service": Emphasizing their official status to instill trust.
- Fast Response Times: Promoting quick arrival at breakdown or incident scenes.
- Damage-Free Towing: Using phrases like "we provide highest quality" and mentioning advanced equipment to assure customers of careful vehicle handling.
- Competitive Pricing: Claiming "honest competitive prices - zero hidden fees," though customer feedback suggests otherwise.
However, for local users and those traveling through JFK Airport, the prevailing promotional message from real-world experiences seems to be a cautionary tale about aggressive towing and demands for on-the-spot payments. While they provide an essential service for managing vehicles in a high-traffic airport environment, the negative customer reviews suggest that the perceived value of convenience and official authorization comes with significant risks of unfair practices and poor customer service. Therefore, it is essential for potential customers to exercise extreme caution and be aware of their rights when interacting with Ben & Nino (JFK Building 180), particularly concerning their towing operations near JFK Airport.

This lousy towing company colludes with airport security, and as soon as you leave your car for more than a minute, they call the tow truck and share the profits. At the time, I was standing right next to my car, with the engine running and the door open, saying goodbye to my girlfriend. Yet, this guy, an African-American, directly lifted my car and attempted to tow it away. He demanded $50 on the spot to release it. I told him his actions could damage my car, but he said he didn’t care and had a terrible attitude. There’s no oversight on their actions—they can tow your car at will as long as no one is inside, without giving any warning, even if you’re standing right next to it!

Horrible company, they’re scammers. I got out of the car to open the trunk for a client and they immediately came and tried towing me. I told him that it’s an AWD car and that if he tows it, that he’ll damage my transmission. He didn’t care. He had a very disgusting attitude and told me I either pay him $50 or he’s going to take my car away. I’m also going to report this company to the BBB as the supervisor was also no help.

Okay it was my fault that I put it somewhere where I am not suppose to but you could’ve just show some manners instead of screaming. Really childish people tbh. If your car was towed from cargo area then they have it. Good luck getting it

suspicious joint scam with airport staff, I just left my car for one second and they tolled my car right away. Paid 30 dollars to the driver who took me to the building(with JFK staff “referred”) for a ten minute drive. And 250 dollars to get my car back. When I arrived at this scam building my tolled car was just arrived AFTER me. RIDICULOUS SHAMEFUL SCAM After I come back to airport, the staff joked about it “oh you got your car back huh”

Be careful as they take your vehicles and give you no information towards why they take the vehicle. The owner is very rude and says that security calls if the vehicle is unattended as if it were a mafia they are running, so be very careful . The staff members also stated they dont have to provide any information in regards to the vehicle or any information in regard to the tow truck driver. Please be careful .
