Services and Goods for Sale

Batteries Plus is primarily known for its extensive range of batteries and related power solutions. While the provided reviews highlight specific automotive-related services, the brand "Batteries Plus" generally signifies a broad product offering. Their services and goods for sale typically include:

  • Automotive Batteries: A core offering, including batteries for cars, trucks, motorcycles, ATVs, and marine vehicles. They likely offer various brands and battery technologies (e.g., lead-acid, AGM).
  • Specialty Batteries: Batteries for a vast array of devices, such as laptops, cell phones, power tools, cameras, medical equipment, and alarm systems.
  • Key Fob Replacement and Programming: As evidenced by a positive customer review, this Battle Creek branch provides key fob sales and programming services for various vehicle makes and models. This is a significant convenience, as dealerships often charge considerably more for similar services.
  • Battery Testing and Installation: Most Batteries Plus locations offer free battery testing and often provide installation services for automotive batteries.
  • Phone and Device Repair: Many Batteries Plus locations also offer repair services for smartphones, tablets, and other portable devices, typically focusing on screen replacements and battery issues.
  • Lighting Solutions: Beyond batteries, the stores often carry a selection of light bulbs for various applications, including automotive, residential, and commercial lighting.
  • Battery Recycling: Environmental responsibility is often a feature, with facilities for recycling old batteries.

The explicit mention of key fob services in a customer review confirms that this specific branch offers this valuable automotive solution, positioning them as an alternative to dealerships for this particular need.

Key Features and Strengths

Based on the provided customer reviews, several features and strengths, as well as significant points of concern, can be identified:

  • Competitive Pricing for Key Fobs: A major strength highlighted is the significantly lower cost of key fob replacement and programming compared to dealerships. One customer paid $170 "out the door" when dealerships wanted "over $300," showcasing a substantial saving for consumers. This positions Batteries Plus as a cost-effective alternative for this specific service.
  • Efficiency and Timeliness (for some services): The key fob programming experience was described as efficient, with the fob ordered on Friday and programmed on the following Monday, indicating a relatively quick turnaround.
  • Positive Customer Interaction (in some instances): The positive review specifically mentions "1st class" experience and highlights the helpfulness of an employee named Amanda, suggesting that positive customer service is indeed present in certain interactions.

However, it is crucial to address the significant concerns raised in another review:

  • Issues with Warranty Honoring: A major point of contention is the alleged refusal to honor a 4-year battery warranty due to the battery being dropped off by the customer's son rather than the customer themselves. This indicates a strict and potentially inflexible interpretation of warranty policies, leading to considerable customer frustration and a perception of unprofessionalism.
  • Unprofessional Staff Conduct: The review explicitly names an individual, Drew Campbell, as "unprofessional" and describes an interaction where the customer was told they were "trespassing" while leaving the store. Such conduct severely damages the customer experience and reputation.
  • Lack of Customer Empathy: The focus on who dropped off the battery rather than the battery's charge percentage demonstrates a perceived lack of concern for the customer's actual problem, further contributing to a negative experience.

These contrasting experiences paint a complex picture of Batteries Plus in Battle Creek, highlighting that while they offer valuable services at competitive prices, there can be significant inconsistencies in customer service and policy application.

Promotional Information and Customer Testimonials

While no explicit promotional offers are provided, the competitive pricing for key fob services acts as a strong, implicit promotional point. The positive testimonial about the key fob replacement ("1st class, I would highly recommend!!!") serves as effective word-of-mouth marketing, directly encouraging others to use their service for this specific need. The clear price comparison with dealerships is a compelling reason for customers to choose Batteries Plus.

Conversely, the negative review, while not promotional in the traditional sense, serves as a significant cautionary tale. It highlights potential pitfalls in customer service and warranty handling, which can deter potential customers. The review's strong language ("ABSOLUTELY NO STARS," "DO NOT go to this branch") acts as an anti-promotion, warning users about possible negative experiences. For a local business, online reviews are a critical form of public perception. The presence of both highly positive and severely negative feedback indicates that while some customers have excellent experiences, others encounter significant issues, particularly concerning specific individuals or policy interpretations. Potential customers would need to weigh these contrasting experiences when considering Batteries Plus for their battery and key fob needs.

Batteries Plus Customer Reviews

Do not go to this branch in Battle Creek....Drew Campbell is unprofessional and will not honor your warranty...I had a 4yr warranty on a battery and because I was at work and my son dropped the battery off and me picking it up the next day he said he can not honor that because my son dropped the battery off.., not me...he was not concerned about the battery charge percentage but more so my son dropped it off and therefore that voids the 4yr warranty!!!! ABSOLUTELY NO STARS for this place.. then tells me I'm trespassing as I'm walking out the door to not come back.

Experience was 1st class, I would highly recommend!!! I had to get a key fob for my 2015 Dodge Ram Big Horn so someone I know suggested here. I called and talked to a woman named Amanda, she ordered my fob (I believe) on Friday, was there and got it programmed the following Monday. I got a fob and got it programmed for $170 out the door, dealerships wanted over $300!

COVID-19, power outage in the area... that did stop them from helping a girl out. My truck died and needed a new battery. Auto zone had no power, no way to look up parts, and was cash only. I stopped into Batteries Plus, they helped me right away. Changed the battery out for need which I am grateful for because I am only 5'2 and my head just barely goes above the hood of my truck, not to mention I have no idea how to change a battery. Thank you Batteries Plus for your friendliness, and hospitality. I will be back for all my battery and bulb needs!

Refused return for battery that didn't work because we opened the package. I made a phone call and the manager started LITERALLY SCREAMING at me saying they didn't refuse a return even though I heard them directly over my girlfriends phone refusing. I just hung up on the manager because she was literally screaming into the phone. I said "you really going to yell at your customers"and she said "I'm not yelling" of course their garbage. Corporate never answered either.
