Automotive Radiator Exchange Introduce
Automotive Radiator Exchange, situated at 10801 M-102, Detroit, MI 48221, USA, functions as an "Auto Repair Station" with a particular focus implied by its name: automotive cooling systems. For those in Detroit and the surrounding areas requiring services related to radiators, heater cores, and other cooling system components, they can be reached at (313) 863-2200 or +1 313-863-2200. The business claims to have been in operation since 1954, positioning itself as a long-standing distributor of auto cooling products.
However, the online reputation of Automotive Radiator Exchange is notably polarized, with glowing praise from some customers contrasting sharply with severe allegations of fraudulent practices and subpar workmanship from others. This conflicting feedback presents a complex picture for potential customers.
As a specialist in radiators and cooling systems, Automotive Radiator Exchange would typically have a workshop environment equipped for specific tasks related to these components. This would include tools for diagnosing cooling system issues, repairing or replacing radiators, heater cores, hoses, and other related parts. The business name suggests a primary focus on the exchange and repair of radiators, implying they carry inventory of new or reconditioned radiators for various vehicle makes and models. Their claim of being "Distributors Of Auto Cooling Products" further supports this specialization.
The facility is expected to be capable of handling issues like overheating, coolant leaks, and cabin heating problems. Despite the specialized nature, as an "Auto Repair Station," they are also expected to provide general car services, as indicated by one positive review mentioning "any car service."
Based on its name and the mixed customer feedback, Automotive Radiator Exchange's services primarily revolve around:
- Radiator Repair and Replacement: Their core service involves fixing or replacing damaged or faulty radiators, which are crucial for engine cooling.
- Heater Core Repair and Replacement: As evidenced by a customer review, they undertake repairs related to heater cores, which are responsible for providing heat to the vehicle's cabin.
- Cooling System Diagnostics: Identifying problems within the entire cooling system, including leaks, blockages, or malfunctioning components.
- Sales of Auto Cooling Products: As a "Distributor Of Auto Cooling Products," they likely sell radiators, heater cores, and other related components to both individual customers and potentially other repair shops.
- General Car Service: One positive review mentions "any car service," suggesting they may offer a broader range of general automotive maintenance and repair, although their primary specialization is cooling systems.
The features and customer experience at Automotive Radiator Exchange are defined by the sharp contrast between two very different customer narratives:
- Positive Experience (Quality and Satisfaction): One customer reported being "Absolutely satisfied" with the service and stated, "They did a fantastic job." This suggests that for some, the repairs are completed effectively and to a high standard. The belief that it's "Definately the place to go for purchasing a car radiator or any car service" indicates confidence in their products and overall service.
- Negative Experience (Allegations of Fraud and Subpar Work): Conversely, another customer presented a severe indictment of the business, labeling it a "fraud" and a "joke." This individual claimed that a heater core repair for which they were charged $600 initially, and then a $100 deductible through Car Shield for a re-repair, was never properly fixed. Instead, the part was allegedly "glued together," leading to recurrent failure. Pictures of the "cracked part with glue all over it" were reportedly provided by a dealer, substantiating the claim of deceptive practices. This reviewer's strong advisory to "Don’t waste your time save your money and get it fixed the right way" highlights a profound betrayal of trust and a significant issue with the quality and integrity of the repair work.
- Customer Service Issues (from negative review): The negative review also points to a problematic customer service attitude, questioning the business's audacity in asking why the customer didn't return for a third attempt after such a poor experience.
This stark divergence in feedback suggests that consistency in service quality and ethical practices may be a significant concern for Automotive Radiator Exchange.
The promotional impact of Automotive Radiator Exchange is heavily influenced by the conflicting nature of its customer reviews:
- Positive Promotional Message: The review stating, "Had my vehicle serviced here. They did a fantastic job. Absolutely satisfied. Definately the place to go for purchasing a car radiator or any car service," provides a clear and positive message. It suggests competence, customer satisfaction, and a reliable source for cooling system parts and service. This would appeal to customers looking for reliable and well-executed repairs.
- Damaging Promotional Counter-Message: The detailed negative review acts as a strong counter-narrative, presenting serious allegations of unethical and fraudulent practices. The vivid description of a "glued together" heater core, the repeated failure, and the subsequent dealer's findings are extremely damaging. Phrases like "This business is a fraud," "what a shame," and "This place is a joke" are highly condemnatory and would likely deter potential customers. This review directly challenges the business's integrity and quality of work.
For local users in Detroit, MI, considering Automotive Radiator Exchange for their automotive needs, the online information presents a significant dilemma. While one customer extols their virtues, another provides a detailed and alarming account of alleged fraud and poor workmanship. Prospective customers would need to carefully weigh these diametrically opposed experiences and might consider seeking additional information or alternative service providers to ensure peace of mind and reliable repairs for their vehicles, especially for critical components like radiators and heater cores.

This business is a fraud, I brung my 2015 GMC Terrain to this business to have my heater core fixed and was charged 600, it lasted a year, I took it back to the same place and was charged a 100 deductible through car shield and guess what my heater core is out again. This time I took it to the dealer and was informed that the heater core was never fixed it was glued together. They sent me pictures of the part cracked with glue all over it what a shame this place needs to shut down, they had the nerve to ask me why didn’t I bring the truck back to them are you kidding me? This place is a joke. Don’t waste your time save your money and get it fixed the right way.

I wanna thank Radiator Exchange for taking care of me. Went to Safeway & they were trying to charge me $850 for a coolant leak and I had a bad feeling about them when I realized that Ali the old owner sold the business so I towed my car to Radiator Exchange & they charged me $240. I told them everything Safeway told me I needed and they could've said I needed the same thing but they said I don't know what those other people were talking about you only need a coolant fill tank. It's nice to know there are still some honest shops out here. Thanks again Radiator Exchange!!!!
