For vehicle owners in Williston, VT, and the surrounding areas, specifically those with unique or vintage vehicles, or those facing complex electrical issues, Auto Electric Co stands out as a specialized "Auto Repair Station." Located at 207 Boyer Cir, Williston, VT 05495, USA, this establishment focuses on the intricate world of automotive electrical components. You can reach them directly at (802) 951-9990 or via mobile at +1 802-951-9990, connecting you to a team equipped to handle specific electrical rebuilding needs.
The environment at Auto Electric Co appears to be one of focused expertise, catering to a niche segment of the automotive repair market. While specific details about the physical layout of their facility are not provided, the nature of their work—rebuilding starters and alternators, particularly for classic cars and RVs—suggests a workshop optimized for precision electrical and mechanical work. Customer interactions highlight a mixed experience. One customer praises Jeff and his team for doing "a great job" on a starter rebuild, implying a positive and efficient process for specific tasks. This suggests an environment where specialized skills are readily available and applied. However, another detailed review points to significant challenges with rebuilt parts, specifically voltage regulators for an RV. This experience, involving multiple failures and issues with warranty claims, indicates that while the shop possesses the capability for specialized rebuilding, consistency in the quality of all supplied components and clarity on warranty terms may vary. The overall impression is that of a specialized shop that excels in certain areas but might present complexities in others, particularly concerning parts supplied for rebuilding.
Auto Electric Co operates within the "Auto Repair Stations" category, but with a distinct specialization in automotive electrical systems and component rebuilding. Their core services and goods offered include:
- Starter Rebuilding: As exemplified by the 1950 Chrysler Windsor Limousine, they offer specialized services for rebuilding starters, particularly for vintage and classic vehicles where new parts may be unavailable. This involves disassembling, cleaning, repairing, and reassembling the starter to restore its function.
- Alternator Rebuilding: Their expertise extends to alternators, as seen with the 1983 Wanderlodge RV. They provide rebuilding services for alternators, which is crucial for older or less common vehicles where new replacement units are obsolete or difficult to source. This process also involves meticulous repair of internal components to ensure proper charging.
- Voltage Regulator Services: While the customer review notes issues with specific voltage regulators supplied, it confirms that Auto Electric Co deals with these components, likely in conjunction with alternator rebuilding or as standalone replacements.
- Specialized Electrical Component Repair: Given their focus on starters and alternators, it's highly probable they handle repairs for other related automotive electrical components that are often rebuilt rather than replaced, such as generators, solenoids, or other specific electrical units in classic or heavy-duty vehicles.
- Classic Car and RV Electrical Solutions: Their clientele includes owners of vintage cars (1950 Chrysler) and RVs (1983 Wanderlodge), indicating a capacity to work on older and specialized vehicle electrical systems that many general repair shops may not be equipped to handle. This involves a deep understanding of legacy electrical architectures.
Their primary strength lies in providing solutions for hard-to-find or obsolete electrical parts through skilled rebuilding, offering a vital service to owners of classic vehicles and specialized equipment.
The most distinguishing features of Auto Electric Co lie in its specialization in rebuilding automotive electrical components and its ability to serve niche markets like classic car and RV owners. Here are the key features:
- Component Rebuilding Expertise: Unlike many general auto repair shops that primarily replace parts, Auto Electric Co has the technical skill and equipment to rebuild starters and alternators. This is particularly valuable for vintage vehicles where original or compatible new parts are no longer manufactured, providing a cost-effective and historically accurate solution.
- Niche Market Service: They cater to owners of older and specialized vehicles, including classic cars and RVs, which often have unique electrical systems that require specific knowledge and tools. This focus allows them to develop deep expertise in these less common automotive categories.
- Problem-Solving for Obsolete Parts: Their service offers a crucial solution for vehicle owners whose parts are "no longer available new." The ability to restore existing components keeps these vehicles operational.
- Direct Customer Interaction: The reviews indicate direct interaction with staff like Jeff and Blaine, suggesting a hands-on approach and direct communication between technicians and customers.
However, it is important to acknowledge a potential area for consideration based on customer feedback: the consistency and warranty of certain rebuilt components, specifically voltage regulators. The detailed account of multiple failures within short operational periods and issues with warranty voidance highlight that while the rebuilding service itself is offered, the reliability of all supplied components might be a point to discuss when engaging for services.
Specific, formalized promotional campaigns or discount offers are not detailed in the provided customer reviews. However, Auto Electric Co's primary promotional strategy appears to be rooted in its specialized service offering and its ability to solve unique electrical component problems. Their very name, "Auto Electric Co," clearly communicates their niche. For owners of classic cars, RVs, or any vehicle with an electrical component that is expensive or difficult to replace, the fact that a local shop can rebuild these parts is a powerful draw.
The positive feedback, such as Jeff and his team doing "a great job" on a starter rebuild, serves as organic word-of-mouth promotion within the classic car and specialty vehicle communities. The capability to handle "no longer available new" parts is a significant value proposition that directly addresses a pain point for a specific customer segment. While the negative feedback regarding component reliability is a concern, the initial allure for customers needing specialized electrical rebuilding remains. Therefore, their most effective promotion comes from their unique service offerings and their established reputation for addressing complex electrical issues, which inherently attracts a clientele with specific needs that general auto repair shops cannot meet.
In conclusion, Auto Electric Co at 207 Boyer Cir, Williston, VT, is a specialized "Auto Repair Station" that focuses on the rebuilding of automotive electrical components like starters and alternators. They are a valuable resource for owners of classic cars, RVs, and other vehicles where new parts are difficult to source. While generally praised for their specialized work, potential customers should inquire thoroughly about the origin and warranty of specific components used in rebuilding services to ensure long-term reliability. For those with unique electrical system needs, Auto Electric Co offers a distinct and often essential service.

Auto Electric Co Customer Reviews
Jeff & his team do a great job, he's rebuilding my starter in my 1950 Chrysler Windsor Limousine.

I got 2 Lecee-Neville alternators rebuilt for my '83 Wanderlodge RV. These alternators are no longer available new, so I was very glad that Auto Electric was able to rebuild them. When I put the first one in service (the second is for a spare) I soon noticed that although the voltage was holding steady at 14.1V the amperage was swinging wildly from 0 to 40 amps. I brought the RV to Auto Electric where Blaine looked at it. Of course it was only varying the amps by +/-5 while he was there, He adjusted the voltage and sent me on my way. We are taking our annual winter trip and within 200 miles the Amps were swinging from 0 to 40 again. At our first stop in Jersery City I replaced the voltage regulator with the one from my spare. This voltage regulator generated DC, varying the amperage according to how much charging was needed, but had another fault. It drew a constant 4 or 5 amps even when the engine was shut off. This caused the voltage regulator to heat up and did nothing for our battery life as we overnighted at Walmarts and truck stops on our way west. I ended up disconnecting the ground wire every night when we parked to preserve our batteries. By the time we got to Ohio (within the first 500 miles of operation) this second voltage regulator had begun swinging the amperage from 0 amps to 40 amps several times a minute. In Ohio I hunted down a Transpo 230-16009 voltage regulator and installed it. We are now in Denver and it has worked flawlessly. Folks at Auto Electric - I would suggest not using the voltage regulators you sold me. Two failures within the first several hundred miles of use is unacceptable. One of your people informed me that if I swapped the voltage regulators I would void any warranties, so I guess I'm out the $45 each to replace the two regulators you sold me. I hope this information will allow you to do better by any future customers that you might be considering using the first voltage regulators on.

I needed a starter on my sole work truck. Several Parts stores told me 3-4 days to get one. Auto Electric had it back to me the day after I dropped it off, and had my business back up and running, and they were about 25% LESS than buying a rebuild

Great alternator rebuild service. This company also stands by their work. I had a Mercedes E-class alternator rebuilt there and got it back looking and running like new.

I highly recommend this shop. Outstanding customer service & high quality work. Since finding them last year I won't be going anywhere else.
